June 23, 20214 yr Author Reports coming in that Haaland has agreed to terms with Madrid, but that Dortmund are asking for €175M while Madrid are trying to keep it close to €100M. Assuming it’s true, I think he signs next season when the buyout clause kicks in. We just can’t afford €175M or anywhere close to it. Would also explain why City went after Kane. I wonder if Madrid will try to leverage this into a deal with Mbappe? It’s kind of my dream scenario of things within the realm of realistic financial scenarios. Buy Haaland for €75M and get Mbappe as a free agent both in 2022. Would be similar to when we bought Kaka and Ronaldo.

Yeah I can believe that. I think Real really want Mbappe but they know that's going to be really difficult because PSG have such financial power.

I legitimately think there might be a chance Perez pulls a Perez and gets both, but in 2022. Halaand’s fee comes down to €75M or whatever it is and Mbappe is free. Bale’s salary off the books, same with Ramos. Obviously not likely but a realistic, if small, chance. I do know that is supposedly what he wants. Kind of his last stamp on the club — build the new stadium and bring in two new superstars to lead a third generation of Champions League winners.

If they got 100-ish? for Dembele, Haaland is worth plenty more. The kids a goal scoring machine and only 20yrs old. If he produced those stats at a bigger club and was for sale, he'd 10000% be selling north of 150.

They’re in a tough spot because they know they’re going to lose him on a buyout next summer and everyone else knows it too. Plus the kid is really ambitious and not just about the money, so he’s going to be very selective about where he ends up. BVB has a really good relationship with Madrid, so I think they’ll work something out. We send a lot of players to them on loan as well, so there might be a situation where a reasonable transfer fee is accepted but they get some other players coming there way in return.

BVB do a damn good job finding talent and developing stars. Unfortunately they're quickly sold after. Definitely blows for the competition of the Bundesliga. Like the French league, its a one horse race. When BVB had Lewandowski, Gotze, Sahin, Kagawa, Gundogan all on the same squad it was at least back and forth between Munich & Dortmund, briefly.

They just don’t have the revenue to pay the contracts to keep their own players. Definitely sucks. They’ve got some talent now too with Halaand and Sancho, but they’ll both be gone by the end of next summer.

June 27, 20214 yr Belgium v Portugal could be a cracker tomorrow. And can the Dutch keep it together? Seems like they do well in the group stage then usually ish the bed before they can get to the final. Except that one time they made the WC Final, and lost to Spain.
