The Jets have sucked for years and it’s hard to predict them to be anything other than terrible until proven otherwise, but I really really a, tempted to pick the Patriots to finish last in the AFC East. That roster is a mess.

Yeah but were you a science major as an undergraduate then went into public policy and law?

Matter of fact, I went to university for Neuroscience, and now I handle legal claims for insurance. So kinda!

Goff is a good comparison for hurts in that everyone including the Rams could see that Goff was holding them back.

I think the eagles probably view hurts the same but they're not going to publicly say it.

Maybe hurts takes a bit of a statistical jump this year gets bounced in the playoffs again and has enough trade value to fool a stupid franchise, much like the lions to trade for him🤷‍♂️

I think it's pretty obvious to all but a few that Hurts isn't the guy.

I'll eat my hat if he is.

Is it bad that I actually own that and wear it on Thanksgiving?

False.

The Jets had the worst defense by DVOA (32). Giants were 18th. Not remotely the same thing.

Maybe the Jets were 32 because Minshew helped lay a beat down on them.

The Giants would be down there too if Minshew got to play them twice. Instead, the Giants D got to feast on Hurts.

Hurts vs the Giants D last year:

31/60 328 yards, 2 TDs, 3 Ints.

But, tell me again how his floor is Minshew's ceiling?

Well if it isn't my old friend Mr McCraig, with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg : TheSimpsons

I wonder if Mr. McCraig is actually Hurts? Description fits!

Well, the Eagles put up 27 offensive points and 3TDs against the Giants the 2nd time around.

And it's 1/17 of a season (6%), so your premise is flawed. Minshew produced against the worst defense in the NFL.

Hurts didn't produce against a bottom tier team.

I'm not sure who I like most....between Dr. Nick, Troy McClure, or Lionel Hutz. I think it's gotta be Hutz.

He means season I assume. He's just a bit slow is all.

Again, that's false.

The worst defense the Hurts faced all year was the Falcons (30th in DVOA). For context, the Jets were 32nd. We scored 32 points, while Hurts had 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 264 yards passing and the usual 50+ yards rushing.

Yeah I’d probably go Hutz.

@4for4EaglesNest any chance to look at that bet yet?

230 passing yards per game, 2.4 TD:INT ratio, 65.5 completion percentage. He hits at least 2/3 I win. Bet is moot if he misses at least 4 games. Avatar control for the off-season.

I doubt he hits that completion percentage but based on last year at least those should all be right around "average" for a starting NFL QB. Which would be a big step up.

Let me think here.

AJ Brown hasn't played a full season yet but averages 4.3 catches per game for 70 yards, or 73 catches for 1,190 yards in a 17 game season

DeVonta Smith as a rookie had 64 catches for 916 yards and 5 TD.   4 catches per game as Hurts #1 WR.

Dallas Goedert had 56 catches for 830 yards (Ertz had 18 for 189) so let's say TE had 74 catches for 1,019 yards

Greg Ward- 7 catches

Quez Watkins- 43 catches

Kenny Gainwell- 33 catches

Miles Sanders- 26 catches

Boston Scott- 13 catches

Jalen Reagor- 33 catches

Jack Stoll- 4 catches

Tyree Jackson- 3 catches

Dick Rod- 2 catches

JJAW- 2 catches

Lane Johnson- 1 catch

Overall, the Eagles had 306 completions (265 from Hurts averaged to 300/17 games)  out of 492 attempts.  That's an average of 18  completions out of 29 attempts.  Just using the average numbers for the top 3 (including Brown) that would 210 completions.  You still have 167 completions to just give the other players their 2021 stats in a run heavy offense.  Jalen Hurts would need 377 completions just to keep up with 2021+AJ Brown meaning he would have to go from 17.5 completions per game to 22.  Is Jalen Hurts going to complete 4.5 more passes per game?  My guess is no.  Where I'm going with this is the following:

I don't see the Eagles becoming a pass happy team even if they want to.  It's not Jalen Hurts strength.  Has Hurts shown anything that shows us that he can complete 4.5 more balls a game?  Even if he improves and he completes 2 extra passes per game that's only 331 completions...46 less than the total of Brown+Eagles 2021 numbers.

Are both Brown and Smith going to catch 5 passes per game while Goedert catches 4-5?  Right there you have 15 completions with none to Watkins, Reagor/Ward, Gainwell, Sanders, Scott or TE2.

But let's say Brown and Smith get 5 per game, a slight bump from their averages and Goedert catches 4 (down from his 4.3).  Based off of their career averages, they would put up the following.

AJ Brown- 85 catches, 1,377 yards

DeVonta Smith- 85 catches, 1,215 yards

Dallas Goedert- 69 catches, 809 yards

Right there is 3,400 yards in your top 3 guys.  There's just no way that happens.

I'm getting way off track from the George Pickens bet.  My guess is he catches 50 for 850 and 5 TD so just from averages, no you're correct.  He won't have a better year than the Eagles best WR.

Falcons were week 1, Giants and Jets were back-to-back games, and a far more apt comparison. But go on, defend him some more.

Know nothing about the new guy except that he's small and caught a fair amount of passes in college

Which seems Sirianni values in his backs.

The small back thing is going to hold the Eagles back much more than Hurts, on 3rd and shorts a big back is more likely to keep the chains moving moreso than a small back, I have no idea why the organization can't figure this out, afterall, it was the big backs that played a big role in the Eagles only SB win.

The dumb sheets had better draft Chris Rodriguez from Kentucky in 2023.

Yeah.  You tell em.  Big backs more important than QB. Makes sense.

WTF is your problem?  I didn't mention anything about one position being more important than another.
