Same reason I "cap” the Eagles win total this season at 11.  Look at the QBs for teams with 12+ wins last season.  Hurts has to show much more to be sold on him:

Serena Williams had to go through Venus, Capriati, Henin, Sharapova, Azarekna, Davenport, Kerber. All of them have won multiple majors and are/will be hall of famers. Serena is an all-timer. I don't agree she's the GOAT, but at worst she's top 3.

Happens all the time.  Eagles just did it with their 3rd round pick from 2020.   Difference is, no one claimed Taylor, and Eagles did claim Sermon.  9ers probably were looking to put him on their PS too.

Hopefully, he can figure it out when he gets here.  But, I have no delusions.

I haven't seen anything from sermon that would suggest to me that he's going to be great or good.

Having said that he was a low cost acquisition so no reason not to kick the tires.

Honestly I'm more interested to see what perine can do.

Realistic people fully understand that Hurts will not be the starter for the future. Eagles will not pay him 35-45 mill a year with his limitations at playing QB. He might be on this team next year but its only because he will still be on a low contract. Maybe they trade him, maybe they keep him as a backup. But the future is not bright for Hurts as the Eagles starting QB beyond this year.

The more interesting part of that quote was the nugget about CGJ.   "Wore out his welcome" would indicate that the thought on trading him away, and for so little, was motivated by more than just the contract difficulties.

yeah someone said he stopped taking coaching there. 

But if you listened to his PC, the way he talked about the eagles facility, and the people inside of it being like family sounded like he was implying a crappy culture in NO.

It seems like a change of scenery is very welcomed by him. And I think he is going to feel the love here and be motivated to show out for the fans.

I'm definitely not sold on Hurts but there are so many factors right now including the team's ability/opportunity to actually upgrade with confidence.  We'll see what we see starting in a week

Graf is the best women’s singles player I’ve ever seen.  Navratilova is the best all-around women’s tennis player (although surely some HGH involved there as well).  It’s recency bias to believe Williams is anywhere close to their level, when she really only ever had to beat her own sister for most of her career.

With so many strong arm advocates here, it is hard to believe that there isn’t a recognition of how strong Serena was and coupled with accuracy. Graf was nowhere close to her but seeing Navratilova in her prime versus Serena in her prime would have been great. Even better, Navratilova and Shriver versus Serena and Venus, both in there primes..  I get bored watching most tennis matches but not that one.  Too bad the hot tub time machine wasn’t available.

It’s not difficult. Serena grew up angry. Her father was angry, her sister was angry, and she was angry. With good reason. 
Tennis was once a "gentleman’s” sport. No longer. And "gentleman” here is code for white. What Althea Gibson went through, or Arthur Ash, Serena went through as well. On-court antics didn’t start with her. Connors and especially MacEnroe were far more blatant than she. But they were white and their behavior was somehow loveable.

Please note that I am not suggesting that those who dislike her are racist. Quite the contrary. There’s a lot to dislike. I would just argue that a lot of what many dislike is a product of what she had to deal with all her life. And, as someone pointed out, she’s an individual and thus unsheltered by a team identity. All the warts are there to be seen and, because of who she is, they are magnified.

To my mind the greatest woman tennis player ever and it’s not close.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Eagles defense against the Vikings with JJ, Thielen, Dalvin Cook, etc.  They are the type of team comparable to last year’s Raiders, where Derek Carr went up and down the field at will.  Hopefully the Eagles will slow them down and win handily at home.

Week 1 vs the Lions doesn’t hold the same intrigue for me.  The Eagles won’t win 44-6 like last year, but that game shouldn’t be a one-score decision.

Team is good, but the QB puts a cap (limit) on potential success.

Jordan Mason is pretty good too. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ends up their lead back this season. He looks so much better than Sermon.
