Perfectly good comparison.   The question was, "What if the Eagles win the Super Bowl with Hurts no matter how he plays?"    Dilfer was obviously not the reason they won the Super Bowl.  In fact, that offense was historically bad.  Something like 8 or 9 straight games without an offensive TD, etc.

No matter how Hurts plays... meaning, if he's just going along for the ride, like Dilfer did, he doesn't get an extension.  It was absolutely the extreme case, but for a purpose.  There is a minimum requirement needed for Hurts to play in order to get an extension, even if the team wins the Super Bowl, IMO.  He needs to be better than that.

Sure if you take 'No Matter what' literally then definitely No.  The Eagles could make the SB scoring no offensive points in the playoffs where the points are all scored on D and they give up 0.  Hurts could play OK but then suffer a serious injury in the SB.  Of course there are scenarios where it's No. BUT it sure seems like people are going out of their way to preempt any success Hurts might have and say in advance it wasn't because of him.  We haven't seen the games yet

I’ve been thinking about this…

If we draft a QB and Howie offers hurts like 5-6m to be the experienced backup after next year… What team offers him more?

Chase Daniel, Foles, Mark Sanchez; Howie likes backups that have started a lot of games, and he’s willing to pay for it

That doesn’t seem very realistic. I doubt Hurts is just fine handing over the reigns after two years as the guy. Then you have the locker room situation with the new guy trying to make it his team while some in the locker room will always be "Hurts guys” while he’s on the roster.

Would you stay at your current job if you were demoted?

Please.  Give me one of the UGA tight ends next year.

Brock Bowers = truth

The practice squad is made up of guys who did just that. Some vets. A paycheck is a paycheck.  That said these hypothetical conversations will thankfully be enhanced with some real world play results soon

Hurts has far too much ego and pride for that scenario to work

I love, to hunt dove.

If they gave me a raise with the demotion that competed with or beat alternate employment, I’d consider it

Darnell Washington looks like a Mack truck out there.  Bowers looks faster than last year.

That doesn’t happen to normal people

i just have trouble believing that Hurts resolves his biggest issues of speed of reading and pulling the trigger quickly.  Will result in a lot of short passes.  I also need to be convinced he can use the whole field. Six reps in preseason doesn’t do the trick for me.  Dickerson already lost time in TC and I worry about relying on Seumalo to stay healthy. There is a drop off to Opeta and Driscoll.  The Eagles are light in depth at RB and TE.  Sermon is not the answer. WR is upgraded some.  I also have real doubts that the LBs are that much improved outside of Reddick at SAM.  The DEs are the same plus the return of BG. Bradberry is an upgrade over Nelson but I am not sure Epps is an upgrade and CGJ is unproven as a starting S.  Wallace or Blakenship are a downgrade at S from Epps.  I just cannot buy into the Super Bowl hype, no matter how "weak” their schedule is.  (Weak last season doesn’t necessarily mean weak this season.).

Prediction:  7 wins, 10 losses.

Eagles will improve in sacks this season from bad to mediocre.

I think if you’re Nick Sirianni you have to study what Deshaun Watson did well in Houston and try to emulate that somewhat, although Hurts hasn’t shown the ability to be as accurate as Watson.  I’m skeptical of Hurts’ ability to work an efficient short passing offense

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! a rare Nationally televised Arizona day game.  Can’t telll you the last time I’ve seen them not playing after 8pm

Right, which makes the question you asked difficult to put into context with a pro football player

Arizona has been bad for a few years now. But the previous pac 12 commissioner Larry Scott did next to nothing for the conference having a lot of their games so late. Why I’m hoping we go to the big 12

Jalen Carter is an animal, Bo Nix.., is what he was at Auburn, not very good.  Dude leaves the SEC for Oregon and his first game is against Georgia, lol.

Been told by a bunch of Arizona coaches that WR Jacob cowing is going to be an nfl wr. Good mid round prospect. Played at Utep the previous 3 seasons but they think he’s the best WR Arizona has had since Dennis northcutt and Bobby Wade. So far today had 5 catches for 79 yards and 2 tds at the half.

I thought he was Cams backup at Auburn, j/k seems like he’s been around forever. Plus he was waaaayyy overhyped as a freshman.

Yeah, but Bednarik > Donald.   Yeah, I said it.

BTW, Concrete Charlie sold concrete in the offseason.

Lost times. Never to be recovered or duplicated.

To quote the Great philosopher Ian Patterson, " I could kick you in the head and it's a real mean scene..."

Boys were sent to the sidelines all day while guys like Bednarik ( if there were any) played non-stop.

Standing over Frank sayin " This game is F#n Over!  was iconic.

Concrete Charlie.... Respect.

Edited to add the Pic. Not a value post without it...
