There is a decent list of QBs that got to a SB on their rookie deal.   Warner, Brady, Ben, Kaep, Wilson, Mahomes, Goff, and Burrow.

Wentz would have.  Rodgers and Jimmy G got there early as starters.

It's not hard to imagine us drafting a QB in 2023 and going to the SB, with the talent likely to remain on the roster, in 2024.

Who was then? Because those WRs were beyond putrid on 2016.  Randle would have been the second best no doubt but he had such a piss poor attitude that it cost him a job when he didn't have the top level talent to make up for it.

The Eagles 2nd best receiver never played another regular season snap after you made this statement.

No one will ever be this wrong again.

Why?   What has he shown you in the passing game to tell you this, after one game?   He went 17/24 for 168 yards his first game.  What makes you think he’s the guy?

He hasn’t even had his first rookie year yet, just needs time to develop.

Because he's bonkers good

I have a hard time understanding this devotion and or / crushing over Jalen Hurts.

1) is it his running ability? Are people just wowed by his athleticism and mistake that for QB play?

2) Man crush? They like his swag? He comes off as a good guy?

You can combine those things and I still dont get the undying love some have for him. We all HOPE a miracle happens and he turns into THAT guy who can actually win from the pocket, but I have yet to see it.

Who are the devoted Jalen Hurts people you're referring to? Can't be the blog where there's an anti-Hurts jerk sesh every single day

Yup. There was a run in that game where one of the Rams defenders was holding his leg up and he was getting hit by other Rams players. It was a designed Qb run. he gained i think 5 yards. And the officials waited a good 3-4 seconds to blow it dead. He didn’t get hurt fortunately but that’s a type of play you don’t need him even at his size just getting nailed for like 4-5 yards. Eventually his luck could run out and you lose him. Add on singletary actually looked decent last night on the 8 carries (6 yards per carry).

That's the big head scratcher.

I'm going to say something... even Chip Kelly knew that not every 'RO' had to be a true 'read'.  Sometimes it was a straight run... many times in fact.  Even Chip freaking Kelly understood that exposing your QB to hits too much was a recipe for disaster in the NFL.  Chip... Kelly.

Why is it so hard for some of these NFL coaches to see it?

I honestly think this is part of it.  Also makes me very nervous for the reaction if Hurts isn't the answer and the Eagles do indeed replace him.  The backlash is going to be UGLY.

This is all hypothetical to the point of Hurtd doesn’t pan out. Ideally i think the eagles would prefer to draft a QB in the first round if hurts didn’t pan out. Cause he’d be cheaper in terms of the 5 year contract than a veteran so you could use the savings to build the team up more. However if the Eagles win the division which I don’t think is out of the question and the Saints go 8-9 (which i don’t think is unrealistic) there’s a chance the two first you have are low 20s and mid teens. That might not be enough to vault you up in the first round to get to where you get the quarterback you truly covet. There’s gonna be other teams ahead of you that want a quarterback as well and likely in better draft position. Some also have multiple picks

I am not a Lamar Jackson guy. I think he’s overrated. I think eventually he’s gonna keep continuing to take hits and he’s gonna shorten his career. However if Lamar plays closer to his MVP form in 2022 and reaches the market, I would bet a lot of money the Eagles are gonna have interest. They had interest in Deshaun Watson who had 24 case going against him and a possible suspension for a large portion of the year against him. If Lamar Jackson becomes available, if he returns back closer to his MVP form in 2022 and if would want to play here I’m pretty sure the eagles have interested in him. Whether or not they are willing to pay the price it cost is another story. But i would not be surprised if the eagles were involved in that sweepstakes

I see them everywhere, all over social media,  there is def a few here, then there is the media love? I dont see it, I am trying to figure out the why.

And I am not anti Hurts, I am a realist. I like the guy, I sure HOPE he develops, i have yet to see it, and we likely wont know till the end of the season, after another good team who can take away his run lanes makes him play from the pocket.

There's more but I'm pulling from the Hurts thread

God I hope not. I dont care what color his skin is, and I am multi racial. I just want a good QB. I am the guy who would have traded for Wilson, Said we should do our due diligence with Watson etc. It isn't skin color, it's all about ability with me.

DIdn't Marino make it there in his 2nd year?

You're not drafting Richardson for what he is (although that's still good). You're drafting him for what he could. A fast, athletic, strong QB who has a ++ arm and will have SEC experience is going to be drafted very high because of the tools. His accuracy/arm motion is also fine. The issue is processing/reading defenses, because he hasn't had to do it a ton.

There are several reasons people like Hurts but there is one main one.  He's the best option at the moment.  If this past offseason the Eagles had the top pick in the draft and a Trevor Lawrence type were there then most people would have wanted Hurts replaced with that guy.  If the Eagles got Russel Wilson this past offseason fans would have loved it.  But in all the realistic scenarios Hurts was the best option or at least the better options weren't clear cut. So most fans rally around Hurts. It's really that simple

At this point, if an Eagles fan is worried about the skin color of the QB... they haven't been paying attention to the QB position for the Eagles.

Cunningham, Peete, McNabb, Vick, how many African American QBs have the Eagles had over the past 35 years?

I don't think race plays nearly as large a part in it as you think.  It's a factor to some people (it always is), but if the team can't reach expectations this season the QB is almost always the player who is held accountable.  That's why I like the national media "stroking the Eagles' jock".  Expectations are good in sports; it promotes competition faster, even if the coaching staff may not.

One of these should be our next QB.

He's always just going to run and run, and run way too much.  Zero interest at all in Richardson.

the media promotes the race card more than anyone, I wouldnt care if an olive skinned guy led the eagles to a sb win

I hope you're right but man if you go to any Jalen Hurts thread on any social platform and go to comments...it's not pretty.
