It's all we got manThey were never gonna do it, but it made more sense to just let Castellanos play his contract out rather than spend another $10 million and pay casty to not be here. now paying $30 million on that position plus the luxury tax on it.

The amount of sheer financial waste on doomed poor contracts on half-measures per year over the last 4 years could probably equal one near superstar contract at this point.

I showed the math on it this past off-season and even last year. There was roughly around 80+ million dollars wasted money on bad contracts. With $80 million you could’ve had a superstar type player and two good players on this team. Instead, we have all this money invested in guys who are just not very good and unproductive on multiyear contracts. I can kind of understand why Middleton doesn’t want to spend anymore. He’s given Dave a lot of money and a lot of it has gone to waste. So what makes him think just giving him more money it’s just gonna solve the problem. There’s a better chance Dombrowski makes another bad contract.
