April 22Apr 22 It’s too bad that Bohm and Stott have no options. If they did, there would be no resent not to send them to Lehigh for a reset.
April 22Apr 22 I can't wait for DD to be fired. Yeah they'll have to move on from Thomson and Long (finally) too but DD is the key. Don't want that smug POS doing anymore damage to the roster or the farm system. I never understood the hype for this guy. He was given damn near a blank checkbook by Middleton, spent a ridiculous amount on bad contracts and unnecessary extensions and here we are.

(Mets have 12 in a row right now)I am canning DD, Robbie Thomson, and both Mattingly'sBring in Jimmy Rollins or Chase Utley to run it. Or Mitch Williams.

He was given damn near a blank checkbook by Middleton, spent a ridiculous amount on bad contracts and unnecessary extensions and here we are.Yup. I am not a Thomson guy. But I’ve said this in the past Dombrowski is the biggest reason for the Phillies issues. Thomson has his flaws and also deserves criticism for some of the moves that have blown up in his face at critical times. However since 2023 Dombrowski given out so many bad contracts. Nola, Walker, Romano, picking up alvarado’s option, Garcia, Kepler, realmuto’s new contract, Merrifield and so on. basically screwed the Phillies. Middleton didn’t want and according to Jayson stark really couldn’t significantly add more budget and that going forward couldn’t make up for Dombrowski’s poor decisions and spending. Furthermore it’ll continue to Hurt them financially in the next core as can’t get off some of these contracts. then you add on their farm system was not capable of continuously trading away guys to fix problems because he hasn’t done a good job of replenishing after he trades or just in general they aren’t a great farm system.I’ve always said I was fine if they moved on from Thomson. They needed a shakeup and a new direction anyway. but the reality is Dave Dombrowski doing a poor job since 2023 and wasting a lot of money that most managers are giving you the same ending of 2024 and 2025 were coming. 2023 id argue result may have been different however i still argue DD not finding an actual replacement for hoskins and not adding multiple BP pieces so that we don’t even have to rely on kimbrel down the stretch at the end of his career. IMO Bohm or Realmuto being a cleanup hitter for multiple years goes on Dombrowski as our options stink. Replacing Castellanos with Garcia is on Dave. Having Walker still on this roster and no SP in the minors to Step in is on Dave. Our backup C being useless cause we still have Marchan and Stubbs here and no developmental catcher in the system (even the kid we traded to the twins isn’t long term Being a catcher) as of Today. There are so many failures with this roster, spending -!: the farm system that go directly back to Dave. To me, he is the biggest culprit for why the Phillies are going to be in the position. They are now and for the next 2 to 3 years because he didn’t do his job very well.
April 22Apr 22 Who would’ve thought an older catcher would start getting injured more and miss more time? Not Dave.

April 23Apr 23 I know exactly who will disagree with this strongly, but I’ve been on the anti Stott bandwagon for a couple years now. I actually think he’s the worst pure hitter in the lineup. His terrible bat speed just makes him easier and easier to pitch to now that he’s well known. That’s not Kevin Long issue. Near zero power, can’t get the barrel around…pitchers toy with him just by going fastball change.

Garcia is clearly worse and so is Bohm. Anthony talked about the analytics this year are actually showing that Stott is hitting the ball harder than any other season prior to this on the Philly special. Add on his expected hit rate indicates he’s actually been one of the most unlucky hitters in the league this year. He’s actually swinging at first pitches and changed his approach. I would also add he just came off of 7 game hitting streak where he was hitting 270 with a 345 on base percentage over that time. Which is better than anybody on the team over that period besides Bryce. That includes CrawfordI’m not gonna argue with you that he’s not played well this year I’m totality. But the last week you’re complaining about him and he’s been their 2nd best hitter and his on base percentage was near 350.
April 23Apr 23 Worst run differential in baseball by a mile. 2nd worst record in baseball and only off pace but 1/2 game. It was a quick transition from its early to its over. And it’s over.

Literally nobody else on the team is close to that besides Bryce Harper and possibly Turner over that timewanna say he’s the worst hit on the team? Alec Bohm is by far worse this year and it’s not even remotely close.

Bottom line is he’s going to be a near zero power .250 hitter upside with an easy blueprint to pitch to soft, late contact. That’s unquestionably who he is.

That’s unquestionably who he is.Because he just had a 7 game hitting streak and you’re picking on that guy. So even when he does well and has one game (he didn’t even start) out of the last 8, you’re gonna say something. There’s guys on this team who have been awful for 3 straight (Bohm and Garcia) weeks yet nothing on them.Secondly, he’s a second baseman. If he can hit .260-.275 for prolong periods with .345-350 OBP that’s what you want out of him. He did that for a week and then had 2 ABs off the bench and he gets dragged meanwhile worse hitter on this team in Bohm and Garcia not far behind were far worse for 3 consecutive weeks. Furthermore you didn’t draft him to be a power hitter. That was never what he was gonna be. You hoped to hit 13 to 20 homers psycho and got on base consistently.Again, look at the deeper analytics also disagree with you on his soft contact this year. Again Anthony who gets paid to do this brought the analytics up on Philly special and it basically says this year it’s not what you’re alluding too
April 23Apr 23 Just now, eagle45 said:He’s got the worst career slugging % and OPS of anyone in the lineup.JFC he’s a second baseman. He’s not chase utley. ideally want out of your 2B getting on base and a decent average and hope for a little pop. If he played outfield, particularly the corner, first base or third base I would be more concerned with his slugging. Go look around baseball most teams second baseman arent their top guys for slugging, OPS or HRs. Second base are not usually power hitters. If you have one, it’s a rarity.

He did that for a weeka week is not a prolonged period. He’s the worst hitter in the lineup, a bad lineup, over a career. Bohm and Garcia are gone in a year. Stott won’t be. He’ll be here hitting like crap again next year. So that’s why I’m picking on him.

They’ve been far worse analytically than he has and yet you’re sitting here telling me he’s the worst. The analytics tell you otherwise. He is also making the least amount of money out of everybody in that lineup besides marsh (who is still awful against LHP) an Crawfordso you know here’s his rankings in 2025 for 2b: had 499 ABs (includes some guys that got labeled as 2B as they played there for a couple games and it’s not their normal position)HR- 22nd (someone these guys are not pure second baseman; for pure second basemen he’s top 15)RBI— 13thTotal hits— 16thAvg— 16th batters with a minimum 400 ABsOBP- 17th minimum 400ABsSLG— 19th minimum 400ABsOPS— 17th minimum 400 AB:WAR— 6th by fangraph (defense helps him here)If I went by just pure second basement and guys who aren’t multiposition players who are expected to have more power like 3b who can play SS and 2B that counted for 3-4 games they played at 2b. he would actually move up on those rankings and be closer to slightly above avg in 2025So let’s just say last year offensively he was league average for 2b and he is a great defensive player according to the analytics. So the analytics are not on your side stating he’s the worst hitter on the team cause his position he’s league avg (frankly slightly higher if we just went pure second basemen). Guys on this team who were below league avg for their position last year.I’d also point out they’re 10 guys in front of him in HRs last year at second base with 1-3 more HRs. So he wasn't far off from going from 22 to top 12. Were only 6 qualified "2b” that hit 20+ homers. 2b who did it predominantly as 2b was altuve(moved him to Of part time now), Lowe, Marte and Polanco. So in all of baseball 4 out of 30 teams who have 2b that are predominantly 2b who are in the mold. Top 30 HR hitters at 2b the avg was 15.8 in 2025
April 23Apr 23 If you are going completely ignore or deflect his hitting deficiencies simply because of his position, then you need to acknowledge a few other things about 2b. Outside of catcher and bullpen, it’s the lowest paid position in baseball. 2b is one of the most shuffled, platooned, and replaced positions in baseball. More talented mainstays drift towards other positions and utility infielders end up at 2b. So if you really want to not evaluate Stott as the isolated bad hitter that he is and only compare him vs 2b….then make it even more apples to apples and compare him to the select few second basemen that actually keep their jobs year in, year out and have held onto the starting position for 4-5 years with one team without getting cycled out as utility infielders.
