If Stott were so good, why does he keep finding himself in a platoon with career scrub Sosa? No player that is a 5 year mainstay starter should be consistently giving way to a platoon.

If you are going completely ignore or deflect his hitting deficiencies simply because of his position, then you need to acknowledge a few other things about 2b. Outside of catcher and bullpen, it’s the lowest paid position in baseball. 2b is one of the most shuffled, platooned, and replaced positions in baseball. More talented mainstays drift towards other positions and utility infielders end up at 2b. So if you really want to not evaluate Stott as the isolated bad hitter that he is and only compare him vs 2b….then make it even more apples to apples and compare him to the select few second basemen that actually keep their jobs year in, year out and have held onto the starting position for 4-5 years with one team without getting cycled out as utility infielders.

You really wanna talk about it deflection, you literally told me he’s the worst pure hitter on the team but the analytics in 2026 tell you Garcia and Bohm are worse. And when I brought up, they were worse you told me they’re not gonna be here in 2026 so it doesn’t matter. That is the definition of changing your narrative after the fact you said something that turned out to be untrue.

he had 499 at bats which would be top 15 at his position in 2025. And for guys who just play predominantly 2b he’s top 10.

Nobody said he was great. My problem with you is your definition of he sucks and is the worse is based on not knowing the rest of the league. because the league average and stats tell you he’s basically been league avg as a hitter for second base over the last 3 years

You asked me why I’m singling out Stott. He’s been here 5 years. He’s not imminently going anywhere. And he’s a bad hitter. Garcia is here for a cup of coffee. I don’t see much point in debating how he sucks.

He has one year more than Bohm because bohm is in his 7th year. Yet we haven’t replaced him and he’s been below league avg multiple years in multiple categories of his career at a position you need SLG, HR and OPS. Also, just because Bohm is leaving next year does not mean he’s not the worst pure hitter on the team right now. he’s at a position where you need power and slugging and OPS. Yet he has been mediocre with power and slugging second half of 2024 and 2025 hasn’t been all that much better than Stott. Heck Stott has 1 less HR the last 2 years to Bohm who plays a power hitting position. Also Stott has had more doubles than Bohm in 2 of the last 4 years. Again Bohm should be significantly better considering his position and what you need and expect from it.

furthermore he’s not a bad hitter if he’s a league average for his position. 2025 he was the definition of league avg hitter at 2B. Which the analytics showed in 2025 (in 2023 he was above league avg and in 2024 he was below). So over the course of the last three years, he’s basically been league average hitting second baseman. So your definition of bad is based off you wanting him to be top tier 2b and not what the avg hitting 2B gives you. cause the analytics/stats say he is league avg. if you wanted to tell me, he’s a league average second base offensively then I would agree with you. Saying he’s bad is basically ignoring the statistics/analytics at second base for entire MLB that he’s hovered around league average as a hitter for his position

Finally, that wasn’t your initial argument. Your initial argument was he’s the worst pure hitter on the team. That is not a true statement as the analytics indicate Bohm is significantly worse right now (Garcia has gotten worse since the 1st week of the season and was signed to be a power hitter and his power has 2 more doubles and 2 more homers than Stott, Marchan maybe the worst player in MLB as a hitter but he’s not a starter). As soon as it was brought up Garcia and Bohm were worse, you changed it to they are not back next year so i don’t care to discuss them.

I’d also point out it’s not a given Stott is back next year. Aroon Escobar is in double A. If he continues to progress and get to triple A by years end then they could theoretically deal Stott to avoid paying him his last year of arbitration and go Escobar at 2b to save money.

lol

Seriously? What a load of BS. I’d fire him just because he said this BS and it’s absolutely ridiculous

Walker makes every Mario Mendoza out there look like either Ruth or DiMaggio

r/phillies - [JimSalisbury215] Phillies release Taijuan Walker

Be nice if they would hold some of the losers on offense accountable in some way too, just don't really see how.

r/phillies - Enter Dombrowski

I wonder if Middleton is aware of all these busts and how much money of his DD has wasted. Who knows, maybe Middleton has his head buried so far up Dave's ass that he doesn't care. I do wonder how much different the team would be run if Preston Mattingly took over. This team needs a major reset in the worst way.

Tbh I’d just blow the entire thing up. You have these contracts that you really aren’t going to be able to get out of. So you are likely on this downward trajectory for the next 3 to 5 years. So you better have someone that can identify talent and put guys in place to develop them.

So go out there and look at guys who have worked in organizations or who have done a revamping of farm systems with success. Because the way you’re gonna be able to overcome some of these bad contracts and when they eventually get off sustained success is to build your farm system up the right way while adding pieces in FA or trades to it. need somebody who can identify talent, but also put guys in place that he trust and knows to help develop and enhance that talent. That’s the point you’re at now. Whether the Phillies want to admit it or not, Dombrowski needs to be fired everybody and the organization needs to be gone because they haven’t done a good enough job, particularly with hitters developing and identifying the right talent.

Walker was his worst signing in my opinion. I mean, Nick actually had some big hits while he was here, although I’ll concede that had become a rarity.

Is there a big market for right-handed pitchers with an ERA of over 9???

Watch Dave just bring him back on a new $5 mil contract

Man, I would love to "get fired" and still collect millions of dollars. Should have been a Baseball Player. 🤓🙃🤓🙃🤓

Terrible job by Sanchez

Or good job by Sanchez if he’s trying to get everyone fire…

5 runs and scored in 3 innings so far, I smell a world series now

The offense finally does something and claws their way back into the game after a stinker by their ace, then the BP IMMEDIATELY gives them the lead right back roll This team is perfecting the art of sucking ass - it's really quite impressive
