May 10, 20251 yr Might as well transition Nola to the bullpen at this point. He cruises along okay for 3-4 innings then serves up gopher balls by the 5th or 6th.

Bryce just looks like a 20-25 homer type of guy which is ok, but not what he is getting paid for.And this is the real reason the window is closed. No fault to Bryce specifically. His signing opened the window and was the best thing this era of the franchise ever did.Every team, every sport….when you sign a really good player to a long term contract, part of the negotiations are tagging on years and money that both parties know aren’t going to be cost-effective. Whether those years are a big mistake, look really bad, are worth it for the earlier years but simply cost ineffective…that’s the surprise based on how they age. And the other big question, of course, is when they cross that line of being cost ineffective. The Phillies window has closed because they’ve officially crossed into that range with Bryce and went into that range much earlier than expected in Turner, Nola, Walker.
May 10, 20251 yr If you get this Ranger going forward they really should just deal Nola and get back either an upgrade at 3B or CF or even a legit closer/BP arm. Use the money they save getting off Nola’s contract to sign luzardo and Ranger.

It's a no win in more ways that one. Stay the same without better pieces around him or watch him walk for nothing. Best option is to honestly trade him and get two top ten prospects from a team. No way they do that but the 76ers and Phillies have no forward thinking like Howie.

I’d be comfortable overpaying him on a 3 year extension. $90m/3 years. Something like that. I don’t really want to commit to him past the age of 35. That said, JT will be good as gone if he doesn’t want to accept a short extension in the $10M AAV range.

Thats a deal the Phillies would take. Imo i think he wants 5 years (guessing around $125-130 mil which is around $25 mil per). If he reaches free agency and continues this pace then he’ll get it from another team. I don’t think the Phillies want to give out a 5 year contract due to his age his last two years.
May 12, 20251 yr With Schwarber primarily being a DH though his age shouldn't factor as much into the decision - they need to re-sign him. Harper has come out and said he wants him back, so if he's willing to play ball he'll be back.
