September 20Sep 20 In the last 8 games and the only time we’ve scored over three has been both Sunday games. So clearly the Phillies offense can only play on Sunday.
September 21Sep 21 I have to give the Phillies credit. They are a very slowly sinking ship with this generation of Phils, but if the planets align and they can get Wheeler/Sanchez/Luzardo cooking in a playoff series, they could have a shot. I don't understand the Luzardo bullpen stuff...I can't fathom starting Nola over him. If he's not healthy, he shouldn't be pitching at all.The real question is the health of the Dodgers rotation. They could fall apart completely, health wise...but if they don't, there's really no way they don't steamroll everyone.
September 21Sep 21 Magic number is three. Can the Phillies win three games or get some help from the Rockies and padre because the diamondbacks have the Rockies up next. I don’t expect the dbacks to lose any of those cause they generally just beat the crap out of that team. The Padres faced the Dodgers. The Dodgers still have the one seed in sight still but that looks less likely. And then the padres faced the diamondbacks. But they might already have clinched by the time they get to the diamondbacks because their magic number is two.
September 21Sep 21 I actually think this will be great. Phillies get to face the teams they will face in the playoffs this week

So there’s a good chance that the rays have nothing to play for in that series. I’m guessing they’re not gonna overextend guys. So really the Phillies should be able to win that series.Brewers are up 2 games in the dodgers for the top seed. So you are going to get their best. Albeit missing mizio

It really only works if you win game one. Cause if you lose game one, the Braves have momentum. Also gives them a different mindset that they could win this series. The Phillies the last two times they played them have won game one. Even though they’ve lost game two in both of those series it still put the pressure on Atlanta and put doubt in their mind. I always go with my best pitcher first. Frankly, if you need to, you could always bring Wheeler back in game three for an inning as it is a throw/toss day. If you do it in game two there’s no way the very next day you’re bringing him on the mound.

Then I was like you know what that isn't the worst idea in the world. Ultimately, I agree with you though.

I wouldn’t do it because I don’t fully trust Nola to come through. I know he’s had games where’s he’s been really good down the stretch but I trust Zach Wheeler in a big spot in the playoffs. I think you have to go with your best and set the tone. Also needs to be brought up, if he starts game two, then he’s not gonna be able to pitch in game two of the NLDS unless he goes on 4 days rest. Game two of the NLDS is Sunday. Game two of the wildcard series is Wednesday. He would be on four days rest for game two. The argument would be well you’re gonna pitch in for an inning in game three if we need too. The difference is you’re hoping not to have to use them in that game three but, you’re only allowing him to throw one inning. Comparatively to you need him for that NLDS to go at least six innings because of how bad this bullpen is. so essentially by pitching him in game two you eliminate the likelihood he can be used for an inning in game 3. also putting him on short rest if you win the series. And if you don’t wanna pitch them on short rest then you’re only gonna get him once in the NLDS series.
September 22Sep 22 We went from "Nola blows and we are stuck with his sheety horrible arse for years" to "let's start Nola in game 1" in a matter of three months.
September 22Sep 22 Brandon marsh hit a two run homer?!?! IN THIS ECONOMY?!?!?! ON THE FIRST DAY OF FALL?!?!?
September 22Sep 22 I would like to point this out. We’re living in a universe that the last two months Alec Bohm has been our best hitter.

He is a solid playerThe biggest problem he has is that the Phillies consistently try to make him a cleanup hitter. He’s not good with that pressure behind harper. The same thing that they’re doing with Arraez. That’s not where he should be hitting. If they put him in the six hole, which is probably the most ideal spot for him, he would actually be fine. I don’t think he’s great, but he would actually be OK. The fact that they kept trying to make him a cleanup hitter was the biggest mistake they made with him. Cause he’s not that.

September 23Sep 23 I want them to make the playoffs. But at the same time them not winning another game the rest of the year missing the playoffs would also be really funny.
