Official Philadelphia Phillies Thread - We can't hit for crap

Ranger is continuing his trend of a hot first half start followed up by a mediocre second half. He has an ERA of 5.05 and WHIP of 1.46 post all-star break.

Toward the start of this season I was starting to think we should've re-signed Ranger and not Luzardo because Luzardo was not good but he's completely turned it around and actually having a great year overall.

Yup. The stories out here about him off the field have been crazy. The fact that the diamondbacks wanted to trade him and he’s a very good player tells you a lot. They’re sick of his crap. It’s been this way for like two years now.

So Phillies are currently 6-19 against current NL playoff field. Next 13 they have 10 games against Atlanta and dbacks. So would like to see us play better than .240 ball against them

19 of 25 games left against current playoff teams - we're going to find out very quickly if this run is more because of the recent shiddy competition or if the new approach at the plate is for real.

At least they listen to me at the beginning of August. I said if they’re gonna make the playoffs, they have to go on a run in August. Was the softest part of their schedule. September is extremely hard so if they screwed around in August and just played .500 baseball or worse they were in a lot of trouble and stronger chance to not gonna make the playoffs. They gave themselves at least somewhat of a buffer. If they could somehow win 2 of 3 in Arizona, it gives them tiebreakers over padres and split 3-3 with Arizona. Really if they do that can go .500 rest of the month and likely a lock for playoffs. That said to get homefield for WC round need to finish 1 game better than cubs over the next month as they got destroyed by Chicago this year

Are the Astros a playoff team? Currently yes. But also they’re one game over 500

Most of the American League is pretty bad. The Orioles are 1 game under .500 and 1 game out of the last wild card spot.

Bullpen needs to figure out how to get 12 outs without imploding

Got a bad feeling about this

Mattingly is a Fing idiot leaving Nola in to face the dbacks two best hitters in Moreno and Marte especially when Nola looked like he was wearing out last inning.

Well the escaped that lol. I wasn't feeling to good about that lol

I hope they get some runs here with d!ck face warming up

The issue is more you didn’t need Nola to face arguably their two best hitters after giving you five innings and one run. You don’t want him to get into a situation in the playoffs where you face arguably the two bad sits on the other team and they crushed it and make you pay for it.

Offense has decided to take the night off after the 3rd inning

Can’t wait til Kerkering Fs this up

Not good with the bullpen needing to hold it together with only a 1 run lead and numbnuts set to pitch

Arraez hitting .241 with RISP and .300 with no risp. He’s not a cleanup hitter. Add on he could have at least 10 walks since coming here if he just didn’t swing at balls completely out of the zone. That entire at bat he swung at pitches out of the zone. Only 1 was in the zone

Alvarado looking to implode here... Arraez hasn't impressed me even with batting where he shouldn't be. He annoys the sheet out of me with the theatrics after every pitch lol

Mattingly survived nola going two batters too long, Kerkering near implosion and Alvarado. Like talk about trying to lose but somehow being super fortunate

Issue is he should be batting leadoff or second. They won’t do it cause refuse to move schwarber to 4th or have 3 consecutive LH. There’s a reason why other teams refused to use him as a cleanup more often. You are seeing why. He’s got to be leadoff or 2nd

Lmao! Dead silence then you hear just before the pitch Alvarado!! You suck!! Lmao @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! To bad you weren't there you could of taken credit for that 🤣🤣

I always hated Schwarber in lead off wish they would stop with that. I know why they do it but, still

Whew!!! Tough win

We tried our best to give the game away but managed to win it with questionable managing and awful hitting
