At this point, I think they peaked in April and May. They can’t sustain a level of play that’s even remotely close to just being a good baseball team. Since they went on that Rockies and Giants road trip they just haven’t been good. They are 32-34 since then. Thats 41% of their season they’ve been a below .500 team. They have flashes where you think they’re gonna turn around and they’re going to be good and then they just revert back to what they’ve been.

they’re gonna make the playoffs and likely win the division because of how bad Atlanta is playing and how the Mets are kind of frauds. But they’re gonna get to a playoff series and they’re gonna run into a team like the Diamondbacks that they can’t hit worth crap to save their Fing lives.

Nola since the All-Star break has a 4.55 ERA. And for the last two months he has a 4.38 ERA. So he’s basically right back to where we were last year. Every week someone new is a disaster out of your bullpen.

Like i said they are going to get to the playoffs and the same flaws they had at the start of last year are gonna reveal themselves. When hoskins went down a massive hole in your lineup also went with him. You had to replace that bat that lineup. Never did it. Got an entire off-season. You didn’t Fing do it. You had a trade deadline and you still didn’t Fing do it. So you’re going to pay the price for being stubborn and naive. I’m sorry that’s the reality 

Marsh is terrible. To think we traded away a top catching prospect for this bum. It was bad enough he only played part time aside from that he stinks when he's in the lineup. This offense's inconsistency is going to be their downfall. We can't just hang our hat on their record and say we're fine, best team in the NL.

Since June 1st his K% is 38. Thats how awful he’s been. He’s identical to what he was with the angels. So after 2 years of Kevin long working with him he still hasn’t figured it out. Like i said at the time of the trade and now, it was a bad trade in terms of value. Not cause you dealt O’hoppe but the fact you had to fix him and he was never good enough as a fielder to be a CF while giving up a highly rated and coveted prospect.

Also the Phillies have way too much confidence in Long. Besides Bohm, what young player has improved as a hitter this year? Stott regressed. Marsh is the same as he was when he got here. Rojas has the same issue he has had since ST. Long is basically riding guys like schwarber, Harper and Turner who were already established players with previous track records. At some point when you have the same flaws and issues for a prolong period of time then you likely need to move in another direction

So against good teams they can’t hit with RISP. Thats what they showed in the playoffs last year too

 

 

At least they moved marsh and Jt down. But Stott also not a 5 hole hitter 

 

At best they will finish as 3rd division winner and probably lose in first round or get destroyed in NLDS this year. Sorry i used up all my positivity

 

Only person that gives consistent good at bats is Schwarber, they are an aging team on one hand an average young talent on the other end

I agree with you. They top out at the NLDS. That will be the second consecutive year of regression (lose the World Series, lose the NLCS, lose the NLDS). IF this happens, how much heat does DD get? This is the team he put together and he is the one who chose to bring back the same team after the NLCS choke job last year. Can they bring back Thomson?

Thomson deserves heat. However Dombrowski deserves way more heat than what he has gotten. Like their failures last year was cause they needed a right handed power bat in the middle of that lineup from the time Hoskins went down. They got to the deadline and they acquired Castro who was god awful. Went into the playoffs lost because of Kimbrel, but really they couldn’t hit with runners in scoring position to save their life the last five games of the NLCS.  If they had Hoskins, maybe he’s enough to get you over in games 3 or 4 like he did against Atlanta.

Then came the off-season, you literally didn’t do anything except bring everybody back and add with Merrifield who should’ve just been a bench guy. That would’ve been fine to bring on as a bench guy. But you still didn’t fix the problem that you had. Brandon marsh we knew was a platoon player then. We knew Rojas was probably not gonna be ready to be in every day hitting centerfielder. The only thing you can say you didn’t expect was that Stott would regress the way that he did. But you knew you still had a hole in the middle of the lineup and it couldn’t just be filled by the guys you had on the team.

then you got to the deadline this year. Again, you had a chance to solve the problem. They went out and got Austin Hays. Nice platoon player not the difference maker in the middle of the lineup. If they had upgraded over marsh and Rojas, he’s probably fine as a starting LF. But they don’t. So we’re right back to where we were as soon as Rhys Hoskins got hurt. You have a hole in the middle of your lineup because you don’t have a right handed power hitter that can hit with runners scoring position.

this all comes down to Dave continuously ignoring the problem because either he is too stubborn or naïve to think that that is the problem. Add on his trades like marsh look worse now
