Closest since was 2022 when both made the playoffs.

The issue is marsh couldn’t hit LHP when we got him. He still can’t. The reason they made that trade was so he could be an everyday player. No offense don’t love hays or Wilson playing as much as they are going to in this series. Wilson is a bench guy and hays isn’t healthy nor has he been all that good when he did come back from his kidney issue
October 4, 20241 yr Phillies record vs Mets this year: 7-6 7-3: Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Cristopher Sanchez, Ranger Suarez starts 0-3: Taijuan Walker startso

But the Mets seemingly look like they are playing pretty loose and with house money. The concerning part is the last series with the Mets, they managed to win 3 games started by Nola, Ranger and wheeler. We really need to hit better with runners in scoring position then we did in the last 7 games vs. Mets. They were 14-54 (.259) but it’s kind of skewed cause one game they were 6-17 and the other 6 were 8-37 (.216). Imo have to win game 1 and 2. If you go back to citi field down 0-2 you are likely done. If it’s 1-1 you gotta hope nola or ranger shows up big. Not sure i trust Ranger to with how he’s looked down the stretch since he got off IL
October 4, 20241 yr Some stats: The Phillies head to head vs the Mets in the last 10 years are 44 games above .500. That's the biggest disparity of any two teams in pro sports over the last 10 years and greatest disparity over a 10 year period in sports history between any two teams. They also have the biggest disparity over the last 5 years. In short, the Phillies own the Mets. The Phillies have hit twice as many HRs as the Mets have over the last two seasons. Pete Alonso has never homered against the Phillies. Pete Alonso has never hit a home run 400 feet or more in his entire career. Hits a ton of cheapies. Diaz has the worst percentage of pitches thrown inside the strike zone in the history of baseball. He mightily struggles to find the strike zone and is horribly wild. Diaz has never struck anyone out looking in his entire career. No two players have ever homered as many times combined over a 3 year period as Harper and Schwarber have against the Mets.

Umm is this entire thing just made up statistics and just a bunch of rambling nonsense? last 10 years the Phillies are 74-95 against the Mets. Would be 21 games under .500 It’s closer the last 5 years as we are 35-39. 2015: 5-14 2016: 7-12 2017: 7-12 2018: 8-11 2019: 12-7 2020: 6-4 2021: 10-9 2022: 5-14 2023: 7-6 2024: 7-6 They’d have a better record vs. the Mets last 5 years if we weren’t god awful against them in 2022. But then again re-reading this is it’s just made up crap

The home run was part of a five-hit, four-run opening inning for the Mets, who went on to win the game 9-1. Alonso's longest home run was a 489-foot shot he hit in Minnesota during his rookie season in 2019.

I think the Phillies underachieved in the regular season that year considering the talent they had and how bad they were to start and then nearly collapsing and being saved cause the brewers were worse. For the Mets i actually think they overachieved considering the talent they have
