October 10, 20241 yr I’m sure Kevin Long tells these guys to swing at pitches 6-12 inches out of the zone.
October 10, 20241 yr Flyers fan checking in here, your baseball team is doomed, they are stuck with bad contracts, no flexibility to do anything, come root for an up and coming team

They went to Colorado and SF, they were 59-56 from that point. I’ve said this a lot whatever happened from that homestand to that road trip they just were never the same team. They just weren’t when you watch them offensively they just could not get themselves back to having any consistency. And there were times were there bullpen was just bad. Like bad like they were in this series
October 10, 20241 yr They need to throw the checkbook at Juan Soto. That’s the only way they get out of this mess offensively. He’d be perfect for this line up. With $53m coming off the books after 2025 from Alvarado, Schwarber and Realmuto, I think fiscally it could work.

You definitely have the money to do it especially if you’re not going to extend Bohm and Stott . you have Aiden Miller coming up so one of them doesn’t need to be extended. The problem is if you trade bohm, you have to go get a third base until Miller’s ready. If you trade stott, you have the same problem at second base until Miller is ready. if you’re not gonna extend either one of them long-term then you should probably trade them and get the value. And you probably should sign Alex Bregman to play third base if you’re gonna go that route. I don’t think they’re gonna go that route. I think one of those two is going to be here long-term. If I had to guess I kind of think it’s gonna be Stott. I think they believe Bryson could still be their Jean Segura . I think Alex is the guy that’s gonna fall out of favor and they’re gonna try to trade him to get a better outfield.

Turner Soto Harper Casty Schwarber Bohm/Replacement Stott JT Rojas/Replacement —— Marsh traded for BP help

If we get him I’d be ecstatic. I think it’s more realistic that you wind up with Alex bregman at 3B. Use Bohm to trade for an everyday LF. Marsh/rojas platoon CF until Crawford is ready.
October 10, 20241 yr I don't know what's a bigger letdown. The birds last season or the Phillies this season. It's like we see these patterns that affect the whole city. Remember just a couple of years ago 4 of our teams went to their respective championships and they all lost? Maybe the new cycle is start strong, look unstoppable, then crap the bed when it matters most.

Then were mediocre the rest of the year. Eagles were 10-1 but they were pretty fortunate to be 10-1

Make it one less step than the last year. 2008: Win World Series 2009: Play in World Series 2010: Play in NLCS 2011: Play in NLDS 2012: No playoffs 2022: Play in World Series 2023: Play in NLCS 2024: Play in NLDS 2025: Play in wild card round? 2026: No playoffs?

I’d bet the make the playoffs next year just cause wheeler, Sanchez, Nola and Ranger are good enough and the extra playoff spot. Really the 2026 season is where i think you’d see them miss. Chance wheeler begins to decline by then. Ditto with Nola. Would have to hope painter steps up. Schwarber likely gone. Castellanos in the last year of his deal. Harper in his mid 30s. I feel like that’s the cliff where they miss the playoffs and you are in for like 4-5 years of just mediocrity or bad baseball
October 10, 20241 yr At least our pain and suffering is now over until 2025 with this crap team. Now I can switch to the Eagles for additional pain and suffering for the remainder of 2024.

October 10, 20241 yr It’s not that they lost, it’s that they never even showed up for the series. They are lucky they didn’t get swept. Completely non competitive.

October 10, 20241 yr Why would Soto want to come here? Other teams will offer him a lot of money too and we are the biggest choke artists in the league now.
