Knapp blows. Seriously drops a throw home and was saved by the Padres. and then allows that ball to get by him

Hoskins back and Bohm sent to Triple A. I also read that Andrew Knapp only has 3 hits since July 4th. I know a backup is a backup for a reason but that is utterly pathetic.

Thank God they activated Rhys Hoskins. Would’ve been nice if they did it four days ago when he was eligible to come off the IL

Does Bohm going to AAA technically mean we have a prospect in the system again?  🤣

Mccutchen is sort of the Darren Sproles of the Phillies.

What makes mccutchen worse is that they gave him a 3 year contract when there was no need. He was declining and they overpaid. Brantley a year younger got a 2 year cheaper contract and is one of the better hitters in the AL.

4-8 post Mets sweep, Braves are 9-1 in last 10

not what you wanted

Pretty much saw this playing out, though with the games vs ARI thought the Phils could go .500 and try to stay in a stone's throw of the Braves.  Braves have made their move to pull away and leave no doubt.

So we are stuck with him for another year?

No his contract is over at the end of this season. Brantley signed an extension with the astros so it’s why he is in his 3rd year there. His original deal when mccutchen signed here was just 2 years whereas mccutchen got three and more money.

Maybe we can have this kid be our # 4 starter

He’d likely get here and pitch gems and the Phillies would score 0 runs

you’d think the offense would be way better than what they are. Harper, realmuto and segura are the only ones who have been somewhat consistent. Rhys has been either really hot or really cold. mccutchen and Herrera are really just not good enough. Mccutchen is way more cold then hot at this stage of his career. Herrera is what he always has been where he has 3-4 weeks of good hitting then comes crashing back down to either. Didi looks like he is just done. Torreyes is a nice bench piece but the more he starts the more he’ll get exposed. Bohm just isn’t ready defensively nor as a hitter and might just ultimately be a Dominic brown where he was highly thought of but wound up just never being what we thought.

We could use a SS, CF, LF and 3B next year. That does not even include the fact we need to still add to the bullpen and likely add a starter or two.

Luckily for the Phillies, most of those positions are going to be stacked next year.

I think they wind up with one of the top SS's (Correa, Seager, Story) and/or 3B (Arrenado, Bryant)

They can then use Stott and Bohm as trade bait for pitching

That's 100 out of 112 batters he's K'd.  That is nucking futs.

Idk. Even if you sign story and Bryant then you are going to be ridiculously into the luxury tax to the point where you aren’t going to be able to make the moves to add some one major to the rotation even in a trade. I just don’t see the Phillies paying Bryant, story then adding a pitcher that’s likely making 20 mil. Their payroll would like be all the way up close to 260-270 mil and would be close to that for a couple years considering they’d have harper, realmuto, bryant, story, wheeler and nola making big money for another 3-4 years at minimum. I think you get get likely one of bryant and story. Then some minor moves.

Now THAT is some epic analysis right there.

Their O is so easy to shutdown and this coupled with bad fielding and untimely pitching is a recipe for mediocrity at best.  Harper is going to waste his prime years with this poorly run franchise, but he can laugh his way to the bank while doing so.

What the hell is with the Phillies and keeping all their failed front office personnel in the building with other titles?

My guess is they are too cheap to just fire them and pay them for not working

Did anyone actually think after that little run they went on that they would sustain and keep the division lead?

Meanwhile the Braves lost their best player, who is also a top 3 player in the league, and are running away with it.

Gavin Weir with his 2nd No Hitter in the LLWS at Williamsport, fanning 14 of 18 for outs.  Don't know how many, if any he walked, but did see a runner on 2nd in one of the highlights.  That South Dakota team has no given up a run so far.  The LLWS seems more entertaining than the Phillies.
