We have a solid RB room with varying skill sets. I think Gainwell & Swift will play the same role and Penny & Sermon another. I think this could be the year Scott doesn’t make it because he’s more in the Gainwell/Swift category. We did give him 800K guaranteed though. This is of course if Sermon carves out his role.

I wonder what type of FA the Eagles will target. I dreamed about adding Ngakoue, but that was before the draft and they added another edge, so that will probably be redundant even if you can never have enough pass rushers. I doubt they go that over the top with it.

The FA LB class is super weak so doubt they add names there.

I'm guessing if they add someone possibly John Johnson, Adrian Amos, maybe a depth OT like Wynn or Lewan.

Even if Scott makes the 53, it's hard to imagine him dressing on gameday unless someone is hurt (which isn't a stretch). I can't imagine that returning KOs would be enough alone to keep him on the gameday 46.

I think they will trade for a LB before the season starts

I was thinking they might keep all 5 and have Gainwell mostly in the slot...  Have him fight it out with Zaccheaus and have Quez be the main backup for Smith

The best LB this team could get is Kwon Alexander. Has lots of WLB experience. Played in multiple systems. A very good run defender, which we desperately need at the 2nd level. We don't need Patrick Johnson or Davion Taylor.

Idk who else would return kicks though. As usual we didn’t bring in any KR competition.

It worked for Covey...wasting 2 spots on return guys would be terrible.  They NEED to find a position player that can do it all.

I mean, that's a really stupid reason to keep a 5th RB and have to dress 4 on gameday. Assuming we dress 2 QBs, 5 WRs, 3 TEs and 8 OL, that would make 23 on offense. Dressing only 20 on defense would be a real problem, since they likely will dress 10 DL/rusher (Cox, Davis, Carter, Williams, Ojomo, Graham, Sweat, Barnett, Reddick, Smith) and 4 off ball LBs. Can't have only 6 DBs. So it's either dress only 3 RBs, only 7 OL or only 9 DL/rusher. I'd want the lineman up. It might be 3 RB, 9 DL/Rusher (sit Ojomo) and 8 DBs. but I'd want Ojomo to spell Davis.

Alright, we all love the draft but let's slow down with it now.  I don't want to get dream team vibes from this class.  They were terrific college players.  We need to see them perform in the NFL now.  High hopes, but I'm ready to move past the praise.

It is what it is, we've been praised before for drafts that ended up being good and some ended up being bad. Here's the fact of the matter: The Eagles were loaded in 2022 and still couldn't get by Reid and Mahomes. I remember saying in the days leading up to the SB if the Eagles can't beat them now, when can the Eagles beat them? Granted, I think it was a fluky game and if the Eagles and Chiefs played 100 times, the Eagles win 60 of them. But if you want to get by Reid and Mahomes you need to load up. It's the only way to beat that team they're that good.

I honestly don't want to cut him for those 2 games...if we can get him to PS, there are his 2 elevations. 

We're going to have some hard decisions on the 53 this year.

We carried 4 RBs all of last year. We know the 4 RBs this year: Swift, Penny, Gainwell, Scott.
Of the 4, I think Penny is the most likely to be inactive.

I believe there is a requirement that all teams dress 8 offensive linemen on game day.

Most underrated pickup this offseason.....hard to believe. Ty Zentner. Siposs cost us big time. This guy can boom it 60 to 70 yards pretty often. Looks like a change of philosophy. Got too cute with Siposs and failed overall at directional punting and placement. Just kick the eff out of it!!! Upgraded speed on special teams will also be beneficial with the coverage units. Expect to see a huge difference there. Added bonus with Zentner, good on FGs and kickoffs as well. See good value here.

I can't think of any reason in the world why Rashaad Penny would be inactive so that Boston Scott can dress.  That would be foolhardy.

If you dress 8 O-linemen you get 2 additional actives … 48 in total.  Using your 23 on O and 3 specialists that leaves 22 available for the D.

I think Penny has been severely underrated. When healthy, which is rare, he's really good. If he gets hurt again, sure he could fall out of favor. But if he's healthy I'm confident he will lead the team in carries. He's just the best runner of the Eagles RBs by a wide margin. The guy is a stud.

Boston Scott is our primary kick returner. We don't have anyone else on the roster who is good at it, so he has to dress.

Penny, Swift and Gainwell will all dress. No way in hell Penny is inactive. Scott and Sermon are battling to make the 53.
