If the latter, the Democrats are in a for a world of hurt over the next couple of election cycles.

If you think the gop is going to break the trend of losing the mid-terms after sweeping in a presidential election year, I think you're going to be disappointed.

You’re probably right, but I will say, those demographic voting shifts plus the exhaustion of anti-trumpism on the left might dampen the results. It’s pretty clear the left has been demoralized and suffered a tremendous psychological defeat. I actually was expecting a much bigger reaction to Trump’s victory. Instead it has been defeatism. No energy at all. They’re looking around and realizing their insanity is a minority position, which creates a massive cognitive dissonance and undermines their moral legitimacy.

They also get their marching orders from the top down, and, surprisingly, the news media has generally been relatively subdued after Trump's win. Compared to 2016 when all the "punch a naughtzee" stuff was all the rage and the media was whipping the NPCs into a fervor, 2024 has been a breeze so far. Make no mistake, though, if the TV starts telling people there's an existential crisis going on, they'll respond.

With 24/7 cable news stations, they'll discuss every possible angle to a story and the more sensational it seems, the better ratings they'll get. I think you're believing things you want to believe. Biden did not sabotage her campaign, he wanted Trump to lose at all costs for obvious reasons. He believes the country will be worse off under a second Trump term and any potential personal differences would never change that. To imply otherwise is exactly the type of behavior we have already seen from Trump himself. And with two words, he proved exactly that. "So what?" Again, I thought the conspiracy theories would go away after he won.

Nor did I pull the "Trump rigged this election" out of the air either. Plenty of people are talking about both. Just on a macro level it seems a tad odd that Democrats bled 8-10M votes of popular vote support, while Trump didn’t bleed any support despite a public record of statements that would have cost any other candidate significant union, military and female voters

A lot of you haven't been paying attention to how things have been falling apart the past few years.

Even my kid voted this election.
