Yep, he gets paid but his remaining contract is off the books.

Saw a clip today where someone "deep in the know" said embiid was shocked that they wanted to give him that extension.

With all the negative stories out there, indicating the whole league knows about Embiid's "bad" knees, I am surprised the Sixers are not moving forward with the signing of Quentin Grimes.

That would be a positive news story. C'mon Morey. Get it done.

On the Embiid issue, Sixers should start negotiating a retirement settlement.

Sixers should offer to pay just the first year, not the remaining two.

I hope that all the negativity in the media is the 6ers PR building public favor for moving towards medical retirement for Embiid. Fingers crossed that we get that news pretty soon.

Most of us saw the writing on the wall. A freaking NBA executive didn't have the foresight to trade him or the wisdom not to extend him.

Boston signed Boucher for 1/3.3 million. Meanwhile Daryl is sleeping and we have the ghost of Embiid, and sucky Drummond.

Boucher was a move that was waiting to happen for a competent GM. We dont have one of those though.

Aside from signing Quentin Grimes, is there another move to be made? Maybe with the MLE?

With Embiid and PG potentially out for the start of the season, will there be an effort to get another PF or C? Maybe via trade?

Will Oubre or Drummond get moved before the start of the season? Or is that a trade deadline thing?

If Morey can't reach a deal with Quentin Grimes, then we need to fire Morey.

Morey already totally screwed up by extending Embiid and signing Paul George.

So, we should fire Morey no matter what happens next.

Unless you want to make him clean up his mess. Retire Embiid. Trade PG.

And, for God's sake, stop trading protected 1st round picks away.

I have no problem with Grimes on a 1 year 8.7 million dollar deal this season. Kelly Oubre initially came here on a vet min deal and the next season got a decent contract.

We saw an excellent version of Grimes as the teams 1st or 2nd scoring option. This year, Grimes may not be worth 15-20, 30 million a year.

Lets see how much he can keep his scoring up when he has Maxey AND McCain to share the load with. And, maybe coming off the bench.

If hes still getting you close to 20 a game, then give him a multi year deal at that point.

a little more info on the Grimes situation.

Thomas and the Nets remain far apart on a new deal. Brooklyn hasn't offered Thomas the amount of salary, nor the number of years, that Thomas feels he's earned. That could lead to him signing his qualifying offer.

Grimes and the 76ers are seemingly closer, but still haven't landed on a new agreement. Philadelphia continues to say that re-signing Grimes to a long-term deal is their priority for the remainder of this offseason. If no agreement is reached, Grimes could also be candidate to sign his qualifying offer.
