Best predictor of future performance is….

In the NFL? Generally it’s physical talent + coachability.

Definitely beats past performance.

I think Marlon dresses and has a decent backup size role. He played more than you think last year, he averaged 26 snaps a game.

He did but that was a team that wasn't playing Jordan Davis enough (before his injury), didn't have Jalen Carter as well as Ketavius Street (even though he's more Milton Williams).

The Eagles were dressing 6 DTs at the end of last season (Hargrave, Cox, Williams, Davis, Suh, Joseph).

If they continue to show 5-man fronts, expect that to continue as well.

I think a lot of that had to do with Cox, Suh and Joseph all closer to retirement age.

Oh wise one, can you explain if that is in season IR or season ending IR.  Would think it would be the former, in which case, clever move by Howie.

Season ending, unless they come to a settlement. It was done before the 53, so he's not eligible to return to the active roster from IR

Look at Jimmy's list.  The Eagles are 12th OLDEST.

That's my point. Rueben Frank is suggesting they are the 12th YOUNGEST.

He also claimed taking off Kelce/BG makes them the 4th YOUNGEST team with an average age of 25.8. But on Jimmy's list that puts them tied with 14,15 and 16.

Ahhh yes, the 2023 land of journalists who impost their opinion as facts. Across the board, this is why journalism is dying. Opinions are regarded as facts with no push back but facts are questioned more than ever.

Me thinks you're taking a tongue-in-cheek joke a wee bit too far here.

You probably ruined the tertiary tasting notes when you mixed your Nebbiolo with sildenafil and hers with rohypnol.  Pair it with a light red sauce next time.  😛

It was a 100% natural event.  The superb Italian dinner that went with the Nebbiolo helped

Cleveland move this year is the same move Howie used with Ward last year, IIRC.

Yep

There's literally no reason to be doing this.

Why do you care?

I don't need further convincing that he is useless.

I still irrationally hate Bobby Hoying, and I can’t really explain it

Sometimes I’ll be sitting doing nothing and suddenly get really upset about Bobby Hoying

F that guy

He has one of the worst NFL records: Most pass attempts in a season without a TD pass at 224

He's like the Wayne Gretzky of this stat.

1998 was a weird year. The Seahawks crushed the Eagles 38-0 in week 1 and I was thrilled because it meant Rhodes was done.

It might be the season I paid the least attention to the Eagles.

I’m not sure why I continue to respond to you, I must be a glutton for punishment

I couldn’t have said it better myself

What 2 things do the Dolphins, Ravens, and 49ers have in common?

They pay fullbacks and they don't win Super Bowls.

I think Jerrah needs a 7m a year fullback.

Edit: The BB and Brady Patriots used a FB but they paid him minimum wage and snuck him some illegal Dunkin coupons for breakfast sandwiches.

If so, whom do you drop from the 53?

If they sign him after Noon then no one.

7 DT & 7 CB are other areas but I think they would trade, not cut one of those guys not named Street. I think Street is a cut candidate.

Only 3 off-ball LB and 4 WR is super light. I'm expecting some moves there.

Someone will go on IR before Street is cut.

You have more bad takes than Skip Bayless.

I'd pay Keith Byars $7M in today's NFL without hesitation.

He'd be the 2nd or 3rd best receiver on most teams (on this Eagles team he'd be 4th).

I'm surprised teams don't use backs as receivers more often, Westbrook was a killa in that role, I think Swift could be a difference maker - that was the biggest disappointment with Sanders, never developed as a receiver. With this O-line, they should be running screens more often, that was an AR staple.

There's nothing inherently good/bad about having fullbacks. A good FB > a bad #3 WR, #2TE just like a bad FB doesn't help you.

Breaking up the blogs into sections is fine. What's key is having everything in one thread to make it easy to follow.

TATE used to be a lot more active. Now everyone just uses the blog so there's really only the blog and the GDT that are active in TATE

How many teams are still using a FB?

Absolutely love that movie.  Speaking of off topic, best baseball movies?  I got:

1. Major League

2. Field of Dreams

3. 8 men out

4. 42

5. sandlot

Marlon is the only viable backup NT -- he will dress. The question will be does Street dress (I'm assuming Ojomo won't). So, we can have 48 active players not counting McKee. Assuming we elevate Siposs and Covey for week 1, we need to deactivate 6 of the 52 (excluding McKee) on the active roster. Here's my best guess:

OL: Fred Johnson - Driscoll fills in at RT if Lane gets hurt, Steen at LT for Mailata. Need to dress 8 OL to have 48 active, so only deactivate 1

TE: Albert O - New guy needs to get up to speed

DT: Ojomo -- too raw to play on gameday

CB: Ringo and Ricks -- Jobe is the outside backup, Goodrich dresses as the backup slot since Maddox is injury prone

That's 5 -- need one more. It's Street or Scott, and I'm guessing they dress Scott. Injuries will impact this after week 1.
