He said that in 2024, in response to criticism about the low passing numbers. There was more context to it, and in the same answer also talked about doing what the coaches call and doing whatever is best for the team to win. They won the SB that season.

Last year he was subtly critical of Patullo, seen chewing him out on the sidelines. Other players were also critical of the OC last year too.

That's funny because in my mind he won't. Not sure why we are comparing him with Josh Allen but I will definitely take the sb win. No it wasn't all Hurts but he did play well. Since then he's played meh.

I guess pretty standard answers from Mannion. He didn’t say anything there that makes you think oh wow that’s going to be interesting.

We know Jalen works hard and is always keen to improve. We know he’s a committed guy who takes football very seriously. The key is going to be whether he can play in an offense that requires him to do things he hasn’t typically done well or seemingly liked to do in the past. Can he work more under centre? Can he throw with better anticipation? Can he work the middle of the field more? Those are going to be key to whether this offense works.

Jalen will have ZERO excuses this year for fans/reporters etc to provide. The new offense is designed to open receivers with rub routes, mesh concepts etc. So now the key is can Jalen pre/post read a defense, make the correct read and trust he can make the tight throws if needed in the middle of the field? This has been his biggest struggle since joining the league. They tried it in the Chargers game last year and it was a nightmare situation for Jalen.

I have to agree with this entire post....AJ is gone and all this talent at WR and he has absolutely NO excuses this year....this new system, personnel, offense, etc will be designed for him to spread the ball around so we shall see what he makes of all of this......

Yes he "could" suck but I do not look at things in a pessimistic way....I do not think there is a worse playcaller than what we saw last season and we have seen some BAD OC's as fans....so yes, he could suck but I seriously cannot imagine him being worse than Patullo, particularly with his track record....yes this will be Hurts' sixth playcaller and yet he has overcome all of them so I really do not think the scheme will be the problem this year...I just really do not think so. Fair enough and I’m optimistic about Mannion as well.

But it will take time for Hurts to be comfortable in his scheme. OL injuries and depth are both massive questions. Lots of potential, lots of question marks.

Agreed.....we agree on this.....

I think the idea that Jalen is playing for his career with the Eagles is exaggerated. First off I don’t see why Jalen would want to sign a contract right now. Has any of his counterparts signed yet either? The first one to sign will get the cheapest pay. Also the Eagles are installing an entirely new offense. So the Eagles are so impetuous that they’re going to give their quarterback one season to run it after year meanwhile year after year continuously giving him another play caller doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Funny thing is when the team and the players say things contradictory to the gossip, the people believe the gossip. Everytime people have doubted and counted out Jalen he proves them wrong time and time again. Yeah the Eagles are going to give up on their SB winning MVP quarterback in hopes some rookie pans out.

Me personally I do not think he is playing for his career. What I think is that this season will truly tell us what we as fans need to know as far as his ability to adjust to a new offensive scheme. We saw how last year played out and agreed that the OC truly needed to go as the playcalling was ridiculous and predictable. We have seen Jalen adjust to a new playcaller basically since he first arrive, right? But last year would have been the time for him to prove he could put the team on his back and win DESPITE the bad playcalling and he did not do that..he actually looked horrible in some games last year. AND...this was the first time I have ever seen AJ Brown kind of hint that Jalen was part of the offensive struggles on the team....to my recollection, he has never done that before. Now...there are some of us who have said that he is a very limited QB....nice guy and nice leader and all of that but he is just an average game manager. Look, I have also wanted to be wrong about QB1 but there were times last season where I said to myself that I have always been right about his limited skillset. It's not that some of us wants him to fail...its that we want to win it all and at some point we have to be honest about what the team's issues are and he is a part of that. I think ALOT of us got blinded by the two superbowl appearances and the one win but I PERSONALLY believe that this is the season he can really prove everyone wrong who has doubted him.

This is why I used to love Donovan McNabb play....he actually DID put the team on his back and got to four consecutive championship appearances and a superbowl with not-so-good time management and very few offensive weapons....I just want to see this kind of effort with Jalen and think this is the season to do it with the departure of AJ....

He did that in the first half of the Dallas game last year as well. Jalen doesn't get the credit he deserves when he does these things. In my opinion the bigger issue here is the fact the HC doesn't call plays. It's why Jalen's on yet another new play caller. Question: What happens if the Eagles go to the SB or deep into the playoffs this season? Answer: Mannion gets a head coaching job, and Jalen gets ANOTHER NEW PLAY CALLER. It's a vicious cycle the Eagles have been in since they drafted Jalen. What do the Eagles do in this situation? Do they continue to yo-yo the offense every other year or do they finally bring som consistency here by promoting the OC to HC? Every season a new play caller. What quarterback in the league deals with this? What quarterback in the league deals with this, but consistently finds away to win double digit games and get his team to the playoffs? This isn't a functioning cycle to continue and be successful. This team can't keep hiring coaches only to watch them leave for HC jobs or get fired after a year for ineffectiveness. What do we really know about how well Jalen will play when he never gets the same play caller? Something has to give and I highly doubt some rookie can come in and easily handle this situation.

And I am not disagreeing with you on any of these points. Again, there were games last season he looked absolutely dreadful and I recently watched Acho point out multiple games where he is not seeing wide open receivers, escaping a very clean pocket, etc and it looked like 2023 all over again....No, NO QB in the league has to deal with a constant rotating play caller and yet like I mentioned before, he has overcome all of that....he stopped running for firsts and just goes out of bounds, the constant 3 and outs were the highest in the league and downright embarrassing to watch...its like he forgot all of the fundamentals and I just want to see him really carry this team when he needs to during the regular season.....I don't think its too much to ask for the leader of the team....I DO give him credit when he is deserving of it.....

I would like to see the man play in the same offense for multiple seasons before make any comments good or bad, but I have serious doubts that anyone can come into Philly and play quarterback here and be successful.
