Every player in the NFL is a bad year away from being on some temperature of the hot seat. Only truly pathetic cults wish that their starting QB can have a bad season so they can get some mediocrity to replace him. If he did somehow struggle this year in a new offense and the Eagles were stupid enough to pick Siri over Hurts there would be 12-18 teams lining up to make him their starter next year. They all want to win and he is a legend in the Super Bowl.

He had 26 TDs to 11 turnovers as a first year starter on a garbage offense.

Reagor, Quez, and Ward had 130 targets. Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard were the top 2 RBs.

DeVonta was a rookie.

He's averaging 32.8 TDs a year as a starter. (35.8 per 17). That's the average year, not the best year.

Mahomes is averaging 33.4 TDs a year over the same time (35.3 per 17)

Herbert is at 28.5 (30.2)

Stafford is at 28.4 (32.6)

Goff is at 30.0 (30.1)

Lamar is at 27 (32.8)

QB1 Allen is averaging 41.4 (42)

That Hurts average goes to 34.5 (37.2 per 17) from 2022-on.

He's even with Josh Allen at 20th all time in passer rating.

He's 12th all time in passing TD to INT ratio. Josh Allen is 16th.

Allen, Lamar, and Hurts not only run for lots of yards and scores (more yards less scores for Lamar)

They also make the run game better by being that extra QB keeper threat.

Run yards rank the last 5 years for all 3 teams:

Philly 1, 5, 8, 1, 18* (The outlier 18 is for Patullo/Siri/Calcaterra)

Buffalo 6, 7, 7, 9, 1

Baltimore 3, 2, 1, 1, 2

That #1 rushing offense of 2021 came with Saquon in NY and AJ in Tennessee.

Driscoll, Dillard, and Herbig started 19 games combined.

I can not stop you from being morons. I can only point it out to everyone else.

  • All of those guys changed teams  I like where you are going with this

  • Coaching and play design?  I don't understand why Hurts has so many plays where he stands in the pocket and delivers accurate passes but you guys never talk about that, only the bad plays.

I just want Hurts to win next year.

Not a little. Win the whole thing. Win the SuperBowl and the MVP.

He can get us a 3rd ring and a second one for himself (and Siri / the rest of the team).

Then, all the Hurts Haters will sit down and shut up for like a day or so.

I don’t see the Eagles just offloading Hurts without a clear plan B.

I guess it really depends how they (and now Sean Mannion) feels about McKee? If they think he can be a decent bridging QB then they might be okay with having him as a starter for a year?

There's a part of me that does wonder if the Eagles would have any inclination to trade Hurts. They definitely seem like they want to run a different offense with Mannion which would put a lot more on Hurts' ability to read and react to defensive coverages. That doesn't really seem to be a strong suit of his...quick reads and know where to go with the ball accordingly, etc. I always wondered why the offense was the way it was....Sirianni's lack of creativity or did he design it that way because of his thoughts on Hurts' limitations.

They could still be looking at this year as a trial run for the Mannion/Hurts combo and if Hurts can perform. Or...they could get into TC and see that he will likely struggle with it and they decide to move on. It would be a shocker, for sure. But...who knows? I mean, they brought in Dalton, have McKee and just drafted Payton. Logic says McKee would be the most likely to be traded...but...? Doubtful, but you never know.

Yeah, not doubtful.

McKee gets traded.

Hurts gets traded.

Cole Payton starts next year.

I think it's more because they wanted to feature his strengths. The old offense was the "Jalen Hurts Offense." It was effective when he was a legit threat to run. The decision to shelf that part of his game (to supposedly lower injury risk) led to what we watched last year. They virtually removed one key element, without replacing it with a new one. I've always felt that the reason we don't see a lot of passes in the middle of the field is by design to keep that as a run / escape option for Jalen. With an emphasis on him running less (other than the tush push), they should have opened every part of the field up with the passing game.

I believe Jalen can learn / adapt / run different schemes. I'm curious to see if we really do change the offense this time or continue to force the OC to add just a little to the "Jalen Hurts Offense."

I think they will definitely be changing the offense this year. Or...at least want to change the offense. That said, if Hurts struggles with the desired changes, I'm sure Mannion will have to scale things back....probably back to the "Jalen Hurts Offense" with maybe just a couple manageable tweaks. I want to believe Hurts can adapt and thrive in different schemes, I'm just not sure he can (well, the key word there being "thrive").

Everything that has a beginning...Has an end. I would not be surprised if within several years, IF???? someone thinks that Hurts may transition from our great line and the rest of the talent, to their team, and offers us a good value in trade...then Hurts may move on. The trouble is I am not sure that anyone is that stupid. It would be extremely hard for Hurts, not being a pocket QB, to transition to anyones system. But There is always a chance.

However If Hurts stinks it up this coming year...then something may change. We will see.

When Hurts stinks it up this year.

Book it. Game 1.

Hurts won't play during preseason. He'll be rusty.

Really wouldn't need to scale things back as he would just need more time with the offense. It's another new offense and his first year in it - he would need to show improvement in year 2 or else risk being traded. I know we've had a lot of success in the recent years with QB play, but it's actually hard to find a franchise guy. Simply tossing Hurts to the side after 1 season might not be the best solution.

I think it's a little more of an overall complex situation. Hurts is a mixed bag....he has performed very well and played his 2 best career games in each of the Super Bowls. But his overall body of work shows he's basically an average QB...particularly if running isn't part of his game. This is the last season of guaranteed money in his contract...it's very, very unlikely he will go into the 2027 season without his deal redone. So, it leaves this year for the Eagles to decide if they want to pay him again and be tied to him for x amount more years, or move on.

And you're right, it IS very hard to find that franchise QB. All teams are desperate for that and many teams pay QBs like that even though they're merely average/mediocre type players. The question with Hurts will be about the evolution to his game...can he become more of a pocket passer who can read defenses, make quick decisions and be accurate with the ball? He didn't run much last season or at least it wasn't emphasized as part of his game. As he gets older, he will obviously run less or at the least, not be as effective when he runs. But in a QB starved league where Kirk Cousins should be in the business HOF, you can certainly do worse than Hurts (as he is right now).

I don't really view him as an average QB, because he does certain things many average to great QB's can't/don't do. He's only been "average" in passing yards/TDs because the offense isn't designed to air it out. Plus, as you mentioned, he does run a bit, and we tend to just sneak it in on the goal line for ugly TD's a lot. I mean, we could criticize his passing stats for that, but points are points imo, and the guy has been to two super bowls with this recipe, so I don't know how harsh we should be.

I agree that he will need to adapt to fit the offense Mannion wants to run, and I think he can accomplish all those things you're hoping to see out of him. My only real concern is whether or not he'll be given enough time to fit what Mannion wants to do, and if these offensive changes will actually benefit the team as a whole. We aren't only changing up things in the pass game, but the run scheme is also being overhauled. If Barkley suffers and stinks it up, will fans get down on him too?

I view Hurts as "average" if you take away his running. The offense under Sirianni and whichever OC has always been mostly the same. I've always wondered if the offense has been the way its been due to Sirianni's lack of creativity and ability to design an actual offense, or if he designed it that way because that's all he felt Hurts could handle. Their style has needed their players to win their battles and simply just be better than their opponent. In essence, we have very much relied on Brown/Smith being basically elite, Goedert to be above average at the least, and each O-lineman to perform extremely well. They were struggling with the pass game in early 2024 and the OL basically told Siri to switch to the run game...and of course we know what happened after that.

My point is, Hurts needs a strong run game and elite pass catchers to even get to being "average" as a passing QB. It's the reason why we've heard several times over the years about opposing defenses saying they want to force Hurts to beat them with his arm (i.e., take away the run, make him pass).

This isn't to say that Hurts sucks or anything like that. He can make some plays and can be very effective in an offense that is hitting on all cylinders. He just has deficiencies as many NFL QBs do.

This year is going to be very interesting in terms of the offense they end up running and how Hurts performs within it. He won't have AJ....let's see how good he is at spreading the ball around by making better/quicker reads. But besides all that...he is really gonna need the OL to get back to playing at a high level or nobody is gonna do anything in the offense!

20th all time in passer rating while also running for 600+ and 10+ is about average now?

12th all time in TD to INT?

Only player with 10+ TDs rushing and passing in the playoffs?

Highest completion % in SB History?

Consistently in the elite for completion % over expected. (throw difficulty)

Watch some of his AJ highlights. Even when AJ is trying he is almost never open. Hurts has to dot him constantly. Perfect throws over and over.

Now watch Burrow throw screens to Chase. Watch Chase get open.

Watch Adams and Puka get open constantly.

Oh no, Hurts is doomed with a new set of pass targets who get open!

One of the best deep ball QBs of all-time and one of the best running QBs of all time and the cult cries about 10-19 yards in the middle. We want more deflection picks like the Chargers game!!!

Led his team to 95 points in the NFCCG and SB with SB MVP... average

Yeah, like 16 dudes starting in the NFL can do that. 🤡💩

Stafford won a SB. He put up 43, not 95. I wonder if his D carried him?

I wonder if Jaquiski dropping a Stafford gift factored in?

30+ TDs every year... that's about the NFL average, right?

Hurts puts up 30+ seasons as a starter at an 80% clip (4 in 5) 100% the last 4 even with Patullo/Siri

Allen is at 75%

Manning 58.8%

Cousins 54.5%

Brees 52.6% (Nine in a row)

Mahomes is at 50%

Burrow 50%

Goff 44.4%

Wilson is at 42.9%

Lamar 42.9%

Cunningham 33.3%

Herbert 33.3%

Young 30%

Fashion Fool Newton 30%

Stafford 29.4%

Marino 25%

Montana 22.2% (not counting strike years)

Kelly 10%

McNabb 00.83%

Elway 00.63%

Aikman 00.00% (he peaked at 24 , only hit 20 once more, and averaged 14.5 a year)

I think the entire list of QBs to put up 30+ in 4 of his first 5 as a starter is:

Mahomes

Hurts

End of List

Go ahead and do some research on QBs who can get WRs 1 and 2 to 1400 and 1000 two years in a row.

You are not finding 5 current starters.

Hurts was going to do it 3x in a row even with a 3000+ rushing yards team but both WRs missed 3 games and all sat out week 18.

Burrow can't do this. Burrow can't even stay on the field. Dude is tub elite. Dude is throwing balls at target robots elite.

Chase had better numbers in 2025 when Burrow was out.

AJ was a 1000 yard dude in Tennessee. Hurts made him 2nd team all-pro every year he actually gave effort.

How about when Hurts left Alabama for a new system with Lincoln Riley in Oklahoma?

Did he finish 2nd in the Heisman Average QB Award?

Again, I can't stop the stupid. I can just point and laugh.

When people make the argument that a defense carried a particular team, I think it's important to show context. In 2022 and 2024, our defense was really good for most of those two seasons, but much of the statistical success was directly influenced by a successful ball-control offense that limited the defensive snaps per game. In 2022, we were also pretty good at jumping out with a nice lead early and forcing teams to be 1-dimensional in the second half. I would contend that our defensive stats would be much worse (statistically) if not for the offense. Last year was an example of how a small decrease in offensive effectiveness also hurt the defense's effectiveness.

2025 our defense did carry this team. There is zero arguments that can be made to say otherwise

34 TDs to 3 picks with 18 rushing TDs in his last 24 outdoor games (24-25)

That's not counting the playoffs (4 TDs 0 picks 4 more rushing TDs)

So that's 60 combo TDs with 3 picks in his last 28 outdoor games and the cult wants him replaced.

The 2026 Eagles will play 15 outdoor games.

Don't forget the league high worst 30% 3 and outs. Who will they ever find to replace the King of 3 and outs? If you love watching 3 and out football Hurts is your guy. Tell AJ how great he is. 😂

Yes, but you’ve got a clown that keeps rattling off random statistics and writing pages and pages of prose to show his love for Hurts. I’ve never seen someone this infatuated with a player. It’s weird and creepy.

They probably have a shrine to Hurts in their basement and they watch the game downstairs by themselves. Just them and a box of tissues.

Just a matter of time until Cole Payton takes over.

No one actually reads a word SkippyX writes. Most either have him on ignore or scrolls right by his posts. He only writes it to pleasure himself.

In reality I think Hurts probably needs some time in this new offense. Hopefully Mannion is pretty good and stays for at least a couple of years. Last time he had an OC for 2 years in a row he was Second team all-pro.

As you say, it’s not easy to find a franchise QB. Eagles could use 2/3 firsts to try and draft one in the top 10 next year. Or they could use it to bolster the team. We know Hurts can win it all with a strong team around him.

Yeah I don’t think it’s fair or realistic to think that Hurts is going to put up career best numbers in 2026. I think what the team are going to be looking for is probably a willingness to work on his weaknesses, a willingness to run this scheme and no need for the OC to revert back to the scheme that has been run until now.
