Different outlook on doing the job on D. Basically a LB whisperer…of fairly legendary levels. But his D is so designed for Baun’s position to be that guy to make plays. Without it Fangio’s D wouldn’t even be very good.

His big move to start was about to become a plumber because he knew he was washed up. Been some really horrific team building philosophies taken place at LB here. TJ Edward was a sleeper pick of mine. He worked out very nicely. Think even undrafted? Or super late pick. But just can’t deny when we’ve had any LB play not killing us….we’ve had very successful seasons and D. Don’t think he ignored it as much as he overvalued our in-house guy in Dean and he also signed two cheap LB last year if I recall that didn’t breakout in Morrow/ Cunningham

February 7, 20251 yr But now we have Burks as our starting LB. The guy the Chiefs just completely targeted and abused to win their last SB. It’s scary to consider in that context. Even though Burks stepped up so well when needed…for us. AR singled him out like he was Avonte Maddox…that was on the fly in game. Now two weeks to prepare how to expose him.

Not sure if it’s just because I’ve been that Eagles fan went through that so specifically with Jerome…but can’t help but consider it with Carter. Fair or not. Can’t even describe the levels of pleasure given this season by Jalen Carter showing nothing but a drive to put in the work and dedication to be the best this season. Not sure he is remotely the player he became this year…on any other team.

Never denied anything never said we did great at our LB philosophy I just stated it hasn’t changed the the times we have good LB play it’s a mid-late round draft pick stepping up or a cheap FA signing playing way above his level. And the years it doesn’t work at LB we follow that same blueprint the picks/signing just don’t work out nothing changes in the approach though Not saying it is the right approach just saying it hasn’t changed we do the same thing all the time. I will say Baun will likely get an extension from us similar to the way we extended Bradham

Jack was the original big plan. With Dean being the plan. Like I even admit…was real high on Dean. But he didn’t even earn any snaps the previous season. Just nothing to have put that in place as the plan. At least Nolan balled out at the very end last season. He kind of proved it was coaching error he wasn’t utilized more…and much sooner. Show that flash…nothing to really really definitively on he was going to produce the great season he ended up having this year.
February 7, 20251 yr Myles Garrett stated in a podcast that Philly has been coming out in full force about him joining us
February 7, 20251 yr And want to make it clear again…plenty of great positives occurred with this year’s squad. No doubt. I just was pointing out how I can’t ever think of any dream champion season that had so many things this Eagles squad did. Was far from just everything working out so perfect on a dream season. Which is almost always how SB champion stories go.

So again then we followed the blueprint I’ve said we use every year cheap flier LB signing and mid-late round draft pick lol. Difference last year our FA didn’t turn into White(2022) or Baun lol. And Dean didn’t break out and got hurt early on didn’t he last year
February 7, 20251 yr The more stuff that comes out, you really see into how Jeff Lurie did his best job as an owner. Being patient and taking in all the information from Howie and Siri. Even consulting a few outside sources such as Belicheck. You could see each issue get addressed. Siri’s request for two new coordinators. One in Moore that was a complete set of " new eyes" with different approach. The other in Fangio that stuck with the philosophy they want, but just more experience. Then you go to addressing the players and the holes in the roster, but taking in the influence of the coaches. Fangio being old schoo you could tell had zero tolerance for Reddick’s BS and his vision for what Baun could bring. Addressing the 3 weaknesses in the secondary that had Slay and Blankenship as the best two last year ...BY FAR... now with a complete 5 man stud unit. The pre planning of drafting Jurgens, letting him sit and then putting him in at RG last year, gearing up to be ready to move back to his natural position where he could excel. Carter, a stud, just needing a year to mature after seeing what the NFL is about. Combo with the natural obvious maturing of the other DTs and a guy like Smith on the edge. Adding Barkley to elevate the skill positions as a whole to clearly the best group in the league. Then credit Siri for the idea of using a former top pick at G. Pure physical stud. The OL from a physical standpoint is much more dominant. That was a great start, and then the obvious regrouping during the bye week ...finally getting Dejean ready to take his starting job and offensively listening to the OL and Hurts suggestions of simplifying the offense. Just a great example of... identifying issues and finding solutions.

Like Trent Green going down with an injury that led to grocery store stocker Kurt Warner leading the greatest show on turf to a SB that type of dream scenario? Peyton Manning who could barely throw a ball and Brock who was awful getting carried by the elite broncos D was a dream scenario? Brady taking over for Bledsoe to win the SB in 2001 was the dream scenario? Not to mention the Pats QB coaches died before the season

Cunningham was a saving grace after the fact fallback move that worked out miraculously. He did overvalue Dean AND ignored the whole position group. Any fans that believed and felt we were a serious contender last season could see that alone as a fire-able GM performance. Dean couldn’t even get on the field the previous season. I’ve been high on him even. But last year even when he was on the field he didn’t look ready…clearly not good. GM job is putting together a complete roster the best can be done. Just can’t ignore a whole position group so egregiously. Bradberry was a terrible signing. Still dealing with that this season. But that move was more understandable. He played great the previous season at least. Rosie been able to just sign Ceedy Duce at S at Bradberry signing almost definitely doesn’t happen. So a bit of a double whammy there. The moves at S were weak as well. Brought back the washed up Vikes S. Which ok…give a guy a shot…sometimes works out…new environment…not being asked as much of…but we already had that old guy the season before show us…he was washed up. Bringing him back as the starter after that was just brutal decision making. Blankenship completely came through and masked how bad things had been handled. Egregiously …Fire-ably bad. But then…gotta give full credit for Blankenship success….if ripping the other terrible decisions.

Also is a clear fit here. Win now contending window team. Huff looking nothing but like a bust. Sweat likely moving on to get paid. Plus just the sure thoughts of domination would occur adding him to this Dline. I want to make the move to get him. Steep price it will take. It’s so clearly an All-In-Move for the next two seasons.

Lmao 😂 by this logic we ignored LB this year as well… Dean sucked last year and we signed two nobodies off the street. What makes this year better then last year job at addressing LB? Is it because idk Dean played well and Baun came out of nowhere to be a DPOY candidate? But again was the approach at addressing LB any different than 2023?

Only wise to keep him if he takes a very very team friendly contract. But our LB situation is empty. Dean just can’t be relied on to be but so much next season.

February 7, 20251 yr Dean young guy couldn’t even earn any playing time previously in the NFL and a guy about to start plumbing giving up on his career was the Master Plan starters at LB last season. For me that’s not even a plan.

He isn’t going to take a very team friendly deal but I wouldn’t be shocked if Baun accepted less to stay why would you leave if you can stay compete for SBs get a fair value contract and stay in a system your thriving in. Similar to Becton and even Rodger’s who has stated he will take less to stay in Philly

Like the other SB teams scenarios I listed lol 😂… did you associate the patriots QB coach dying at 45 before the season, them starting 0-2 losing Bledsoe for the year and backup QB Tom Brady leading them to beat the Rams in 2001? Mind you this was also with Belicheat who was only known at this time as the guy who failed in Cleveland as a HC and was 5-11 his first year in NE
