I appreciate your response…minus the attitude. But you just don’t have an understanding of what a master plan is. Rosie has a master plan. Every GM does. But developing a master plan is always fluid. Never just one set option for each position. It’s figuring out the ‘lay of the land.’  He’s telling you about how he’s seeing his master plan will work out.

A master plan is looking at your roster and cap allocations. Then looking and reading the landscape of FA, draft, trades….potential likely cap casualties. Ranking out every option by position and cost. Then going through each phase step by step adjusting according to your master plans the whole way. You just aren’t understanding a master plan. It isn’t one set way of making every single moves to create your team. It also isn’t going along one step at a time without considering everything else.

Is that what " Rosie" said.   Btw...are you from SF originally?  Calling an adult " Rosie" seems very SF type of culture.

Give the exact quote again...

Howie Roseman…Rosie…works for me

Baun played inside LB...is the oldest...Becton and Williams are entering year 5...that's prime free agency...both are linemen.

What is the average price for a 28 year old inside LB with one year of success?

It only takes one team to drive up the price... but idk... 3 years 40 million to me seems high-end for Baun.  Wouldn’t be surprised if it was closer to 30 million.  Probably with an out after 2 years.

Becton is two years younger than Baun. Baun played like a top five defender in the whole league in his one productive season. Becton played..ok …in his one year being serviceable.

It’s not even like Becton after busting proved himself at T. He proved himself at G…next to a HOF T with the best OLine coach.I wouldn’t pay Becton five figures per.

Thought it been pretty clear that Buan will be the top target in FA

Always felt like Sweat was going to be gone after this year and he probably get himself a decent payday.

Milton at the start of the season thought maybe we could sneak into keeping him cheap but not sure that will be the case anymore he likely will get a good offer as well.

Becton is the odd one for me he played well enough to get paid but I could also see him willing to take a pretty sizable pay cut to stay. Likely come down to the teams he gets offers from sure he doesn’t want to end up like his NY stints

So if this was the case? Rosie would make the statement if you fans are going to get exactly what you’re expecting then, right? Not the exact opposite.

Now it’s completely smokescreen season. So maybe it is just him trying to smokescreen the obvious. But I don’t think so. Sounded like I believed him.

Why would Howie say exactly what his plans are? And the statement could be for lot of different things.

Trading assets and likely a decent amount for Myles Garrett can be regarded as going against conventional wisdom

Baun was graded by PFF as 90. The second best LB in the league. Lead the league in tackles, forced fumbles and stops. 6th in sacks from his position. He had a huge huge season. Becton was starter worthy.

I think we are going to make a splash and go for Myles Garrett not a huge norm for us we tend to value our own guys more then going outside the building especially on the lines

We could make a trade for a guy…maybe not Garrett being the most common talked about option. Maybe we swing for Max Crosby. A few other options around I’m hearing about.

I’m not trying to act like I have all the answers here. Just reading the tea leaves.

But again that just me guessing

That’s all any of us can do. But your guessing seems to be the majorities guessing if judge. Which is what I’m hearing Rosie state isn’t what’s going to happen.

Correct

This also makes it sound like we could be looking to deal a young player? Could Jordan Davis be on the block? Instead of using the 5th year option or extending?

It’s been mentioned give up a DLine to acquire a DLine makes sense. A GM selling a young up and coming high pick to rebuild with …while trading away and older player can be sold also. I could see this.

Seem to fixated on just one aspect of the going against conventional wisdom comment could be looked at in a lot of areas and also likely based off the Eagles norms

It’s unconventional for us to prioritize a LB over linemen which would go against the wisdom of the Eagles building philosophy.

Making a big time splash trade could be going against it using assets to gain one player vs stacking assets like we have for last few years and drafting.

The attitude is because you have to read something into every thing you hear.  Turn off the Hollywood motor and be a normal person for once.

Not everything is a big deal.   Lose the attitude towards your hall of fame GM and the most successful head coach in your franchise history.   You don't need 35 posts defending every mistake Hurts makes.

Whatever this is about. I’ve come out and congratulated Siri. Stated more than once I was proud of his growth this season. I don’t have attitude towards Rosie. He does somethings absolutely fantastic…some moves I don’t like. Exactly like o stated: everything isn’t all rainbows and butterflies…or doom and gloom…most everything is some good some bad. I call them like I see them every step of the way. I’d appreciate if you didn’t try and represent my opinions and thoughts so falsely trying to push your agenda. Thank you.

His words were " conventional " ... that means a lot of things including the order of moves. Or again...what is on people's minds.  They are thinking resign our guys and trade for Garrett...nobody is thinking ahead to other moves yet....so those moves may occur first.

Relax....go scout some players...this is your time of year.

It’s all my time of year…I clearly obsess and gobble up everything Eagles all year round.

We shall see.  I think it will be close with Becton being more... unless he takes less to resign

Clearly any player that stays will be taking considerably less. So j don’t think we’ll actually probably see and know exactly at all..ever.

Signing a 28-29 year old player to a big extension would also fit under going against conventional wisdom

He’s a smart guy. He didn’t say exactly spelling out his moves. But he’s as aware as anybody just how viscous his market can be. Seemed to me he felt like hearing everything he’s hearing from all around town….he wanted to make this statement. It was vague…but think us being as hard core as we are…actually can read plenty into it.

I just don’t see why he’d make this statement…if he’s going to do…exactly what all the fans are thinking he’s going to do. Just be pure smokescreen. Which I’m not against him doing. Just saying that’s not what I believe he’s doing.

I won’t be happy if we retain Becton for five figures per. Won’t be happy if he’s paid more than Cam. Not a wise way to spread our resources IMO.

Most of us don't assume too much of just one plan.

You don’t think our GM has a good view of the landscape? That’s really all it is. Read who’s available in the different modes of acquisition and rank guys overall and positionally. You gotta think about how you’re allocating resources…not just this season…but the future seasons. There’s more to the job than you seem to consider here. (Does feel like you completely understand this at times it’s convenientt for your agenda)

I did actually make the exact point of paying a LB big and not the trenches could fit that part.
But he’d be doing pretty much exactly like everybody seems to be thinking by doing it. Which is the opposite of what he said.

I actually do think he did say exactly what he’s thinking and planning. Obviously just my opinion here. But he did it on a way that was smart enough to not give away anything really that specific…necessarily.

I mean…he has been negotiating with his own guys already. What benefit is there in just lying with smokescreen about moves he has exclusive rights to make before anybody else is legally allowed to interfere? If he’s signing Baun…why would he need to smokescreen that? I don’t see it.

Not saying any idea or thought is really a bad one. I usually wouldn’t even read much into hardly any statements made…especially this time of year. But something about Rosie’s statement just stuck for me. Felt like he was being straight…but in an intelligent enough way to not completely be giving up what moves he was making.

Facts are…no way I could actually know any of it. Just using all my years of knowledge about this organization …making an educated read assumption here.
Rosie is way ahead of our knowledge about the negotiations going on here. So felt like him relaying a bit of disappointing news he’s already aware of based on his negotiations.

Plus let’s face it…not going to be a sexy offseason this year. Don’t have great draft ammo. Going to be the team with the biggest FA losses almost guaranteed anyway.

But see…I actually kind of am encouraged with this statement. It rings of next level thinking he has in his master plan. I’m hearing that he’s identified some secondary FA additions that could be key. He’s identified some cap casualty vet possibility moves to be made later in the process.
