Actually hired Patricia knowing Desai wasn’t a good hire to roster him midseason…all along. But Desai got the DC job because he ran a sort of closest to Fangio sort of scheme. Main reason they hired Desai…not for cocky draft pick believing he was so good…because they knew Fangio was coming here in 2024 all along. So obvious Well we disagree then... I absolutely believe the biggest weakness of our front office has been getting cocky after success. That's what I believe happened in 2023, Howie did a poor job with the roster and forcing coordinators on Siri. I believe the comp picks for the promotion more than the Hurts issue... but 100% Hurts was the reason Johnson was brought here in the first place. Either way... my point remains... nothing to do with Siri.

But you should acknowledge that Lurie likes Siri .. both as a coach (that's why he hired him) because Lurie likes the CEO coach, not the genius O mind... his success prior was Andy and Doug, better with people... Chip was the " O mind hire" that completely backfired as was the low point for Lurie as the only time he fired a coach before the end of the season. So that should be obvious that Lurie doesn't want the " great O mind" especially when he has said that multiple times. I believe he will be happy with Howie and Siri ...and very easily will replace coordinators if needed. He likes both guys personally, he thinks both are good at their jobs, both are young and only can get better. Both do what he wants. It was obvious Howie didn't give Siri the roster nor the coordinators in 2023. So other than your reasons of just not liking him personally or wanting " the great O mind" it never made sense to fire Siri. I’m not completely disagreeing with all this. Lurie hired Siri. But Siri got the job based more on his assistants. Mostly Gannon. Heck…I actually think they liked Gannon more than Siri. But let’s not even go all down all that long walk. But I do think Siri was hired as the O mind. Siri believes he is the O mind. Complete believe that’s how Siri has thought all along. This is his O…the whole time.

" But Siri got the job based more on his assistants" so follow the logic... we agree 2023 were not " his choices for assistants" so why wouldn't the logical thing be to allow Siri to pick his assistants after his success and Howie/ Lurie's failure in that area?
March 1, 20251 yr Now…I don’t like Siri statement is strong actually. But understandable how you see it that way. You’ve loved him. My main issue has been he wasn’t ready. I actually do like him. I think he’s a good guy. I believe he’s completely dedicated hard worker. Lives football. Super competitive. Cares for his players. Never questioned him in any of these areas. So there have been many dislikes for me..mostly revolving around him not being qualified experienced and easy when hired in 2021. Also my belief is the easiest path is to hire the best O mind as your HC. Need more than just X and O knowledge to be a great HC. My example would be that d1ckhrad with the Patriots. Good OC with Bellicheat..but got his own HC gig and never a doubt it would be a disaster.

If you were Siri... wouldn't you say " I picked my guys and we had success, how can you fire me when you picked the guys in 2023?" Only way he gets fired is if Lurie didn't like him personally, or felt the players didn't like him. Obviously that was never the issue. Could he not have had confidence in his ability to pick a second set of coordinators? Very possible... but you can bet logic would tell him that he would be an idiot not to give Siri a chance at picking coordinators being that he NEVER picked a bad one... as compared to Doug who did.

Offering to pay him HC salary as a DC…on and on. Lost Fangio over it. I liked our Secondary Coach that went to Baltimore making their Secondary elite then took over with the Titans more than Desai. But Desai was a closest hire to Fangio band aid. I mean it was the exact opposite of Rush to hire Desai…they waited and waited…he wasn’t a hot candidate. But hiring Desai meant they didn’t need to rip up everything between Gannon and Fangio. Real obvious to me.

He’s talked about how crushing and difficult it was giving it up to Steichen. Rumors everywhere flying Siri was running the O in 2023. Then What did you see this season? You didn’t see Siri completely lunging in taking over the O more and more each week starting week two? I mean he was arguing and debating with fans about his calls right after the bye. Siri completely wants to run the O and call the plays. Seems like you understand it’s actually not his strength…even though you love him as a HC…but you are totally blocking what he’s been doing on that front with the O.

The players " love" him... to me that matters some. But also, I can't fire a guy who brought his coordinators and had success. Without ever picking a bad coordinator, why fire him? So he goes somewhere else and picks another good set of coordinators? I can't fire someone until they prove to fail. We agree the roster was weak in 2023... no depth, older, not as good, tough schedule at the gauntlet stage ... You don't like Siri, you want a " great O mind" I'm neutral on both. WE also agree AJ got hurt at the end last year... you say it was meaningless...and you ended up being correct, but at the time AJ got hurt vs the Giants, the Eagles still had a shot at winning the division. So while it bothered me some... it wasn't as big of a deal. Mostly because even with AJ, they weren't going to win 4 playoff games. So no " OMG I hate siri I can;t forgive him for 2023 in my head" Howie/ Lurie were always more to blame to me, plus how the schedule worked out. Didn't take a genius to see where Siri would bring up these things in the meetings after the season

Week 2…who called the Saquan pass that lost the game? Siri. Who called the play action Smitty dagger in the SB? One bad and one great playcall….both everybody knows Siri called those plays. With Moore it wasn’t even very friendly working relationship…it was…”just call it!” Exact Siri quote.

Always believed the HC should be one of the mature adults with the organization. He’s less mature than so many of our young players. Which actually is our strength..,real strong character mature players here big time. For the most part. I don’t believe In a coach listening to the fans breaking concentration during a game. Don’t even believe players should let that happen. Thought this as a player in like 4 th grade or something even. Very basic part of sports. So that’s a key flaw.

That's not me as much, My guys were Vermeil, Jaws, Carmichael, Wilbert, and the Phillies, Flyers and Sixers of that era. The players when I was a kid are who were the ones I felt emotion about ... the recent guys are half my age... I can't " look up to those guys" to feel love or hate. Their kids to me. same with a coach. If I were in a room and had the chance to go meet any of the players / coaches... I'd much rather meet the guys from back then, late 70s early 80s. Those were guys I felt and still feel emotion. It's great the Eagles won two Superbowls ... my memories that will give me " emotion" will be Wilbert scoring the TD vs Dallas and Vermeil hugging his guys.

March 1, 20251 yr So I think Siri being green has held us back. Really just an obvious point. But magnified because our young QB was so green also. So this is where I’ve felt the need to correct myself some. I probably put the issue only on Siri too much. It most likely was the combination of Siri and Hurts. Siri needed to start out with a vet experienced QB. Hurts needed to start out with a vet experienced HC. Either way would have been much more ideal. So I’m adjusting my opinions there. Please take note of this.
