Hoping we can dump Huff. Fangio had no use for him last year. Error by Howie,so I hope we can peddle him for some late pick

The Huff and Goedert situation really opens up a lot of cap space in the future.  Yes, the GM who I've yet to see anyone hon here say that they would prefer a different one, doesn't do everything perfectly.  Not about being perfect, just about winning.

He's been excellent getting players in for many years now. Gotta cut some slack, nobody makes the calls 100% of the time. He was a HOT player in NY with upside. You can only make decisions on what you see, not what you HOPE. As we know many players just don't fit in their new locale. IDK what teams would see in him, the same possible success when he was a Jet, or the guy here who Fangio had no use for. Howie will fix it, whatever he needs to do

As far as Goedert, my thoughts are he stays for now. His replacement COULD be on the roster right now, but we need time to find out and sort through the many we brought in. I'm sure if a decent TE falls enough in this draft Howie would take a look, but as of now I'm not certain it's a targeted position and with Hurts reduced passing, the TE need as an offensive weapon decreased a bit. Blocking should have an increased role as long as Hurts is our QB. I could see more of a targeted TE next draft, but Howie will take care of any line issues first

Derrick Carr has a shoulder injury that may require surgery. I assume the Saints(see Moore) will grab the best QB they can find in round 1. They have Jameis Winston also as I recall who plays like a wild out of control Hurts. He is not the future, but now Carr may not be available either. Moore certainly has his work cut out for him. So they need their QB of tomorrow while expecting little this year. Saints have a bad habit of moving up, sacrificing many picks for ONE guy. They really are in cap hell, so if they are smart, they will just pick where they are and start the re-build that's been needed for years.

We were 6th in conversion rate on 3rd and 7 or more

Really would have thought we would have been last at this listening to many fans. Just carried by our RB all year. FL labeled it the KISS O. But this is exactly the situation where no D was keying on our RB. Clear passing situation where we were behind on the sticks. Huge to have converted at that high a rate.

Winston is on the Giants....signed right before they signed Russell Wilson.

LOL, Why are you always worried about paying your guys?   The Eagles don't let the star players leave... they let the guys like Hargrave, Milton, Sweat, Reddick, get overpaid... they always pay the guys they want, they do it early, so the cap hits stay way low.   Look at your boy ... gets the most cash of any QB in the league... cap hits way way low.   Same will happen for Carter and the two young CBs.   The core players they want to keep.

Some how you missed the entire point. Couldn’t have been easy to have skipped everything important about the situation. You’re really good at ‘it’ ….whatever ‘it’ is. I don’t really see anything relevant in your response.

Imagine what it would take for a guy to just have to get away from a stacked SB winning team looking to repeat…to go to that?

Doesn’t matter he didn’t get any of it right. I mean…Winston and Hurts are both black QBs…that’s about the end of the comparison.

Ok….I’ll try to simplify the issue so you can follow along here…because this is actually a big freaking issue with our team. Houston Texans…also NFL team. They set the market paying their Slot CB the highest wage. They also set the market paying their outside CB the highest wage.
Slot CB:  3 years 39 mil

Outside CB: 3 years 90 mil

How can we even ask DeJean to just stay in the Slot with such a gargantuan divide?

We really been relying on great character team first actions…to levels nobody else would even attempt to ask of their guys even. But 39 mil payday for the team versus 90 mil payday is way beyond even considering to be reasonably asked of DeJean.

Why would DeJean accept that role? It’s frankly just bad business and dumb.

A guy can accept working out some structuring in his contract to work with the team being team friendly…just like our leader Hurts did.

Ringo can’t play Slot. Not his skillset. I project he would be just fine starting outside for us.

I don’t see how this pay differential situation isn’t a massive ordeal for us. This is a real problem.

We just drafted a complete stud Slot CB. Which maybe wouldn’t be so highlighted an issue if we didn’t also draft Q. Q already is lined up for over 30 mil per year extension. DeJean is lined up for 13 mil extension.

How do we work this situation out? Why would DeJean play Slot? Sucks for us…but I can’t blame him. He has to insist on moving outside. I mean he just has to, right?

Vic already stated he’d like to keep DeJean in the Slot.

This situation I’m thinking is forcing our draft hand. We have to draft a Slot CB.
