Right after the SB win this year, I ordered a Jalen Carter kelly-green jersey. This was back in Feb -- it FINALLY shipped! Should be arriving to me in about a week or so. Going to wear it proudly! GO BIRDS!My Kelly Green SB LIX Barkley arrived today.

Point out where 13 mil is still very good pay for a CB ...the 32nd highest paid CB... best 1 per team = $8.5 mil per... yet you interpret it as me suggesting $13 mil is not " quality " So do you understand why it's difficult to have an adult conversation with you. When your mind wanders so far into left field that you try to spin things way way to the extreme?I asked you 5 times already ...who is the slot CB making $13 mil...you won't answer. It's a key point in understanding why he makes $13 mil. Which is absolutely " quality" money. You tell me if this guy is elite and should be making 30 mil. We can't enter that part of the discussion until you answer that simple question though....who is the $13 mil slot CB?
April 23, 20251 yr 15 hours ago, GreenbleedinNC said:My main gripe is that they can't block and you are spending a round 1-2 pick for a guy who MAYBE gets 1-3 targets per game and needs taught how to block before becoming our TE1. Why add another TE2 to a room full of them?. You know I was a TE(in HS) and I should be droning on to GET one. And I would if there was one worthy of TE1. We demand our TE 1 has the ability to block and ZERO of these are blockers. So although possible, you'd need to spend a boatload of time training them. If we had a pass happy offense who threw 40 times a game, I'm with you, but once again that's not how we play, unless of course we are going to open up the passing gameWhat else do the coaches do but " spend a boatload of time training the players" ?

Everyone loves a Cinderalla story, but you shouldn't draft a guy that doesn't fit. Fanin is a no go for me in 2. Maybe he IS for HowieIsn't round 3 on Friday?

He has experience in the NFL, he is a top notch blocker. He got 800 yards a year in ND, that is untapped in the NFL. He's a perfect replacement for Goedert. I have no clue what it would take, but that's my play at TERight....so you get where TE is a priority....more so than Lane's successor in 2028. We still need a TE for 2025, 2026 and 2027 before we play 2028.

TE is more of a succession plan issue rather than a pressing need.JMO

If you need a receiving option, it's a good class, not so much if you require blocking technique(which we DO), therefore IMO it would behoove us to get Mayer as he is adept at both. he is young enough still to keep around for awhile. If you look at the blocking scores for TE's in this class, they are pitiful. Mayer is a plug and play and if you're going to spend a 2 on a draft pick, I would offer a 2 for Mayer. Of course Howie could care less what I think

He already said multiple times at minimum he plays until the end of 2026. Big reason... he is an only child and the locker room is family to him. He has been healthy these last two years where the ankle was an issue prior. He went right back to the gym after the parade and is already working on next year. This is a guy who loves the process. I'll look at getting a guy in front of Calcaterra ( who is on the last year of his deal) more than a guy to succeed Lane who has 3 more years. Now to me...it doesn't have to be a draft pick... but my original point ... TE should absolutely be addressed and is absolutely a possibility in the draft. To your original post of mentioning all those positions that needed a backup.

That was my original point, taking a TE with pick 32 or 64 for a guy who MAY get 1-3 targets per game when they are all "shaky" blockers that need taught. Just seems like a bad investment that high unless you plan on a significant change with the offense passing alot more
