When we dropped Hurts from 40 passes per game to 25,the blocking becomes more important. A round 2 is a high investment for a guy who's going to only get 1-3 targets per game. If I need a receiver I would take a round 2 slot guy/AJ BU before I would take a TE. If we traded Goedert for at MOST a 4th,why would you take a risk with a tiny(n comparison) TE in round 2? Not logical to do. OK if you want him in 2,you do. logically it make no sense to me. Pick who you want, Fanin in 2 is a no go for me

I would not put effort into a SMALL TE unless I was in serious WR trouble. I can't trust a kid who gets more yards than 2 of the WR's COMBINED from the same SMALL school. That makes zero sense as well. Let another team take the risk

April 22, 20251 yr Author https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/football/roster/seth-mclaughlin/11065 IDK if this kid can play RG. He played next to the OSU RG arguably the top OG in this draft. That being said, we have no real BU center, so he would be a smart choice in round 5 IMO. I'm going to add him in

Everything surrounding the league the whole time says Slot CB are undervalued. Don’t get paid half as much as outside. NFL teams. You can say for a rookie to just completely ignore is market value. How many people in any profession make those career choices? You are missing the point. Let’s walk through it step by step. Step 1: what is the market price for a Boundary CB of comparable quality to DeJean? Once you have established that we can go to Step 2.I’ll await your answer.

Why is the highest paid slot CB making 13 million while the outside guy makes 30? Common sense is that level of play reflects those 2 numbers from each guy. Not how far from the sideline they play.

This is an awful record, but Hurts is far enough along he can be trained 🤣(Loeffler) Not thrilled with this hire, but onward we go. This is our teamGotta have some context here BG is trash not like they are going to get the best recruits and Loeffler did manage back to back winning seasons his last 2 years even if it was 7-6…But more curious as to his work with QBs has been QB coach and OC numerous stops. Detroit Lions in 08 is his only nfl experience though

April 22, 20251 yr After one of my teams wins a championship, I always promise myself I'd buy a jersey of one of my favorite players. Right after the SB win this year, I ordered a Jalen Carter kelly-green jersey. This was back in Feb -- it FINALLY shipped! Should be arriving to me in about a week or so. Going to wear it proudly! GO BIRDS!

Maybe 1 can resurrect or get their careers going. SO drafting another one is just adding to the TE2 room, taking one in round 4 or 5 gets you a nice kid we can work on(another TE 2 with a ceiling) so I'm not saying we don't bring one in, but we need other things, DT,OT to train behind Lane, finding a future RG(we also have no BU C for Cam unless you retrain Dickerson, in which case now you need a LG). No real BU outside WR to speak of to cover any loss of AJ who can play slot. If you want to solidify the secondary for a few years, a CB, and once again at TE, you are talking about 1-3 targets per game after we reduced Hurts passing, so you need to be really careful choosing where you take this TE, because they ALL need trained how to BLOCK. A few are "OK" not great, but blocking is something we must have. If we had gunslinger QB with a cannon arm who throws 40+times a game I would be all for it, but that's not how we're set up. You can have 15 TE's in your room. If they are all 2's you aren't getting what you want

Fanin played against inferior players in an inferior league. He stood out, I can't argue against that, but vs WHO?. Making the leap from basically a "supercharged HS" to the NFL is a big one and why if we took a TE, I would opt for one who played with the big boys. When your TE has more yards than that teams WR's COMBINED(and it's by alot) you can tell he was the focal point of the offense and was never really taught how to block because they needed him out on patterns. So whatever. IDK what Howie will do, but if he wants a TE in 2,I hope he makes a better choice than Fanin because those "eye popping" numbers will vaporize quickly at the NFL level, then you are stuck with another TE2. JMO as a former HS TE. I did not want to play TE for Akron U(same division)
April 22, 20251 yr Author All we can do is choose picks by what we have to work with, but Howie is a master at the trade back/trade back UP game(we got DeJean this way), so I suspect any mocks will be blown up early on LOL. Could see alot of players from many teams being traded DURING the draft. As far as TE goes,I am kinda interested in the Raiders BU. he was never really given his shot sitting behind round 1 Brock Bowers. His pro stats stink because of this. I will check him out and report back

April 22, 20251 yr Author https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/michael-mayer-1.html Stats at ND, now sitting idly behind Brock Bowers. They also just added another vet TE, so it seems to me Mayer would be a trade piece

Excellent blocker, NFL experience, young, 800 yards of offense/yr at ND(untapped in the NFL),so this is a great kid to target for me. Better than ANY TE in this draft IMO. No idea what the Raiders would want for him, but as i said, they just added another vet. This guy would be an immediate TE1 for us

You can have 15 TE's in your room. If they are all 2's you aren't getting what you wantSo take a step back and read this post...You are listing positions where we need backups. If we lose Goedert we need the starter... so logically that should tell you it's a priority. I get it, you are focused on the 30 visits...the lines. ... Lane just signed an extension to 2027...but getting his backup has been a mini obsession of yours since the day after last year's draft. I know it's difficult to change the lines of thought after putting so much time in those ideas.... but we also didn't anticipate how the Goedert situation would go and look like he isn't going to be here ...even this coming season, let alone any extension. So TE has to be a strong priority or at least a probable pick on Friday.
April 22, 20251 yr I mean it's also possible we trade for a TE. But it has to be considered as a possible...very possible position that will be addressed soon. Very possible a player that gets picked Friday.
April 22, 20251 yr We gotta train Lane's backup for 2028... i agree... the new TE could be in year 4 by then. So obviously that's a possibility that they prioritize the position.
