Alot of teams mortgage their future picks trying to pick winners. We sold the farm to buy a barn with Wentz. He looked worth it at the time, but after the injury he was never the same player. Howie does take some risks with injured guys who fall, but you have to take a chance once in awhile or you get stuck with scraps. I always like the UDFA guys Howie picks up post draft. Normally we get 2-3 at least BU quality guys out of it

It's only a difference of where the checks come from. 46-65 was disability, then it changed over to SS Although I am still technically disabled (in lot of ways now). Still that is 20 years of lost top wage earning years. zero stars, not recommended LOL

The Assets and Liabilities on the Balance Sheet are not affected by movements of money from one period to another. When you buy a product for $1,000 under a "no payments for six months” the outstanding liability on your books is still $1,000. It is still $1,000 if you get no payments for a year.In addition, you aren’t respecting the integrity of individual accounting/business transactions. Milton’s transaction is a new contract that stands alone. Cam’s transaction is the addition of four years in the future. It too stands alone. The fact that Cam has an existing contract that hasn’t expired is irrelevant.Further, you don’t understand Void years very well. When/If the player’s contract ends, the money in the void years accelerates into the Cap of the year the player’s contract ends. It is still owed, just the timing of when it is owed is affected. Further, if the player’s contract end date is officially after June 1st the money owed is spread over two years BUT the aggregate amount owed is unchanged. As I said before, your framing is from the narrow Income Statement perspective rather than from the comprehensive Balance Sheet perspective. Both perspectives are legitimate, but if you want to understand assets and liabilities, you don’t go to an Income Statement. Wharton and other business schools have a saying, "Net income is bullsheet, Cash is king!”7 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:So all other things being equal which player decides to go to the crap team instead of contend? The guy who gets overpaid on his 2nd contract ...which is the one where he makes his first real money. Usually ends up getting released before the contract ends. Let's keep an eye out after 2027 to see if Milton gets cut, to save NE the cap space. Matt is definitely on to something with Milton possibly getting cut after two seasons like Hargrave and Sanders and Epps ...and really Slay and Bradberry too for that matter. All those Eagles from the 2022 team that lost to KC that were overpaid, whether cut here or cut elsewhere. Milton with that elite level contract, prime candidate to get cut unless he performs at pro bowl level.
May 6, 20251 yr 7 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:"Wasn’t bad” is what I’m saying about him. Above average and good even. And paid really cheap... so easy decision for a team looking to contend in the next few years.Keep continuity... not spend much... and lock in a pro bowl ascending player.Really easy decision. You can pay Cam 3 times...or pay Milton once? Still save money paying Cam 3 times.
May 6, 20251 yr 7 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:Pats aren’t looking to win a title. What are you talking about? Just trying to change their culture. The culture of a solid non pro bowl player making the 3rd highest money at his position...elite level performance money... isn't one that is going to lead to winning. You conveniently skip the fact that the bar is now set for guys who outperform Milton. This causes problems in the locker room.
May 6, 20251 yr 7 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:Nope the unicorn C just set the market at its peak year right now. No C getting paid more than Creed these next couple of years.Agreed... Humphrey getting $72 mil of cap hits from 2025-28... Cam $30 mil. You are right ... Cam isn't close.Cam isn't really close to the $41 mil that Dalman is getting for only 3 years In fact Cam's 4 years are still less than Ragnows cap hits for the next 2.Cushenberry has $43 mil cap hit in only 3 years...way more than Cam's 4 years. A good comparison is Erik McCoy... same 4 years he has $49 mil cap hits. 60% more than Cam.But yeah... way less than these other guys, forget Humphrey. Completely another planet when it comes to the pay. That's why it's a great deal for the Eagles, a contending team locking in an ascending pro bowl level player entering his 4th year for the rest of his 20s at a cheap price.

Not about trying to sound intelligent….he’s giving you a perfect example in framework of normal life for us all to understand.Normal life isn't the NFL salary cap. It's not a balance sheet. It's a rolling cap in a market that keeps expanding... the time value of the money is exponentially taken into consideration. He contracts aren't necessarily locked in. What is showing on the books now in pencil can easily be erased and changed later. You yourself keep talking about 18 games and more games being played outside the US. More streaming services. Playing on both Wednesday and Friday last year. Let me ask you... what do you think $10 million of cap space is going to mean in 2030? The cap in 2021 was $182.5 milThe cap today is $279.2 milThe same pace brings the cap in 2030 to $427.1 mil.Even with Cam's $28 mil cap charge in his Void year...still $400 mil of cap space... and you know what... Hurts can have his $97 mil cap hit...still over $300 mil. Because the next generation of players will be paid on the same type of contracts...with small cap hits and void money that goes into 2038 or so when the cap will be close to $1 billion.
May 6, 20251 yr The core fundamentals remain the same. You lock in a player while still on the rookie contract...you get Cam numbers. You wait for free agency and you get Milton numbers. That's the big one.Backloaded contracts with " void" years is the other tool. This keeps the Eagles ahead of the curve and being able to lock in players long term. You don't need insurance money, balance sheet or Wharton school of business using " widgets" to explain things.

May 6, 20251 yr 8 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:I’m not blown away by fan voted Pro Bowl stuff. I doubt many fans can name more than two C.Not once have you acknowledged how cheap Cam's contract is. You deflect mentioning Creed....New England's culture... and everything else except directly acknowledging the numbers on the contract. This is why it's difficult to have a conversation with you....not even apples to oranges... with you it's not even food...it's like apples to furniture.
May 6, 20251 yr 8 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:I just see these contracts to Cam and Davis as being fairly crucial towards our teams options. Both these guys getting us pretty good instead of a more reasonable deal.Without any new contracts with Centers getting paid more across a 32 team league. In 2025... Cam is the 19th highest cap #In 2026 ...Cam is the 14th highest cap #In 2027 ...Cam is the 6th highest... but only 21 centers are currently on the booksIn 2028 ...Cam is 2nd behind Creed. Only 3 centers showing on the books. Cam at $11.4 mil. Creed is $21.6 milHow do you not see this as a cheap deal for the Eagles, paying a young quality ascending player, the center of their best unit. A cheap way to keep the continuity and the contending window open? How do you complain about this one? This is the type of deal that allows the Eagles to keep and pay guys like Carter, Mitchell, DeJean...etc.
May 6, 20251 yr 8 hours ago, mattwill said:I agree with you that the media headline 💩 is just that 💩However, you are only telling part of the story when you say "the only thing that matters is the cap hit” The guaranteed money matters as well. Joe would have a much stronger argument if he used that. Milton has $63 million guaranteed in his 4 year agreement. Cam has just over $43 million guaranteed in his 4 year agreement.Argument for what?
May 6, 20251 yr 8 hours ago, mattwill said:And Milton can be released in 2028 with only 6m dead cap space easy out. But you don’t sign players for the opportunity to cut them. You sign players for the opportunity to play them.Yes...but then look at what both players were paid over those 3 years. That's the point...you can go year by year and in no scenario do the contracts look close. If you are looking to build a roster...paying Cam his contract gives you much better opportunity to do so than paying Milton the contract he received. Cam is average starter money for an inexpensive position... Milton is elite level money at a premium position. Ham is trying to insinuate in his drawn out way... and in his language..." Rosie screwed the pooch overpaying Cam" and now won't be able to afford the other core players coming up at contract time. This is what he does... can't acknowledge when Howie or Siri do anything good. Once he has an agenda ... pro Milton... he could get overpaid doesn't matter... anti Cam... if we spend minimal on him, it's too much.

But if you guys could see the video from inside the Eagles draft...they showed all 3days. Great video. You could see them trying to trade up for Campbell since pick 22 with the Chargers. Lurie wasn't exaggerating when he told Campbell that they were trying to get him for an hour...was from pick 22 to pick 31... probably around 90 minutes. Some funny stuff. ( Howie's reaction to Atlanta trading up) But great insight to all 3 days and their strategies. Also how much other teams were asking in trades.

Dillon could also be a useful lead blocker. I'm with you though it would be difficult with an alteration. it would just keep them chasing the rules. I don't know what they will do. One of my previous bishes was "this play should not be needed much, we need to get 10 yards in 3 downs". It is responsible for alot of Hurts scoring stats

As I have said several times before, the Income Statement approach is narrow. The Balance Sheet is comprehensive. You have chosen the narrow view. That is your prerogative. I respect that. I personally choose to look at my assets and liabilities comprehensively.
