May 6, 20251 yr Brotherly Shove ban is the death stroke to Goedert here. He’s a good piece of that play. He’s great YAC Creation TE. YAC doesn’t do squat at the goaline. We need Redzone target.
May 6, 20251 yr Be real sweet if we had big 6’6” Johnny Wilson step up as just a goaline replacement for Smitty. That one role could compliment our roster so nicely.

As I have said several times before, the Income Statement approach is narrow. The Balance Sheet is comprehensive. You have chosen the narrow view. That is your prerogative. I respect that. I personally choose to look at my assets and liabilities comprehensively.Matt....whatever approach you want to use... it's a steal of a contract for Jurgens.

Also 6 seasons from now...well outside the window you are concerned about. And even with the added $28 mil...that's 73mil spread out over 6 years. Very team friendly contract when you look at the current center position... and only will look better as other centers get paid. A center could be drafted next year in 2026, and get an extension higher than Cam has now. Locking in these rates at today's numbers are good..they will only look better later.19th , 14th and 6th highest cap hits the next 3 years...locked in, so only can go even lower on the list of center contracts. Cam may never have a top 10 cap hit during this contract at his position. Very effective way to lock him in cheap so that it doesn't prevent any cap issues later.

But same principle. You made it seek like Hurts made such a sacrifice taking a team friendly deal...but you don’t see it with Cam?Both get great cash. Both with miniscule cap hits relatively to their positions. Both locked in long term. Both great contracts for average starters at their positions. If either are considered top 10 at their positions...both deals would be excellent... if both could be considered top 5 at their positions....both contracts absolute steals.

Plenty of teams didn't contend because they have crap players. We didn't beat KC because our culture was better, our PLAYERS were. Now having a great culture helps alot, but it's only ONE of many reasons for success. Dallas gave us runs(or flat out won the division) with the "all prison teams" IDK that their culture has changed 1 iota, but the brass can't manage wiping their own arses. You ogle over many of their players, but are fine that they have no culture. I am happy that Siri conducts the team properly to the point players are confident in themselves and the guys they play around. Howie cuts loose the trouble makers and cancers. AJ went through a little "tiff time" where he let his ego go for a bit, but Siri got that all quieted. WR's are like lead singers in bands. You have to keep their egos in line or they blow things up. You must provide them with their stat share and the "culture" comes from the staff who understands this and provides

May 6, 20251 yr Author 1 hour ago, cunninghamtheman said:Intense desire to win being driven competitor has been our main key to success. Exactly the key guys we’ve had that have overcome so much to find ways to win the last several years. No better example of what AJ, Smitty and Hurts sacrificed purely for team winning. Bad culture stems from players just needing to feed egos and not even caring about playing as a team. Heck even to levels of where winning just isn’t even an expectation. Pats don’t believe in themselves. Players aren’t bonding together to do what’s best for just any team. Heck find any other WR duo and QB combo that even is willing to sacrifice personal career ego for team success. Much less asking a player to self sacrifice for a team not contending. Not happening.Bad culture organizations can most easily be explained by looking inward at exactly what our Eagles now possess. Starts at the top. HC relations with players. Ownership buy in. GM relations across the board. Nothing more key than player leadership. Then let them overspend on Milton. We had to let some go because we went "all in" which you argued most of last year was a fallacy(but it wasn't)

Too many times we saw Siri trying to just reward him after a nice gain setting us up inside the ten. Two…even three carries at times. So many times just being forced to turn to Hurts to get it done. Smitty isn’t the worst goaline WR for his least ideal body type actually. But defenders can get a body on him enough to disrupt timing. Goedert staying or going never proven to be a TD weapon.LMAO no YOU have issues because relying on Hurts was all we did. We added Dillon, the dude from FL(I( hope he makes the 90). As of now we still have Goedert/calc. Wilson who is fairly big should be healthy in the slot,we added 2 FULLBACKS. We may be forced to score like every other team has to OMG!!!!!!!!!! The humanity!!!!! Actually near the GL is where we will miss the guy you hate Gainwell, even if he was only a decoy. I'm wondering if we can run ASmith out of the backfield down there. he needs to prove he has something to offer or he is going away. He is on the bubble. Rams picked up Covey

And you think that will put the Eagles in a tough cap situation? They are showing $90 mil of cap space in 2027....with a lot of players locked in. If they extend Carter, Smith Ojomo... they will have low cap hits in 2027. . Same if they extend Mitchell, Dejean or Hunt. How do you see cap issues in 2027 when actually looking at the numbers?

Both Hinton and Williams have been enrolled in Stoutland University, where just like Mailata did they will use the first two years of their rookie contract being developed as potential Lane replacements. That they turn out as good as Lane is not guaranteed, but they are the raw "clay” that Stoutland has successfully molded in the past.A successor to Saquon is a much more daunting task. As Roob pointed out in a recent article, this season is going to be very interesting to track. "Saquon Barkley was the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. It’s interesting and a little ominous to look at the first eight and what happened a year later. Those first eight 2,000-yard rushers averaged 2,046 yards and 5.6 yards per carry in their 2,000-yard season. Each one averaged at least 5.1 yards per carry. The next year, they averaged 1,079 yards and 4.2 yards per carry. That’s an average drop of 47 percent rushing yards and a 25 percent decrease in yards per carry. The highest rushing average by a player who ran for 2,000 yards the previous season was 4.5 by Adrian Peterson in 2013, but that was down from 6.0 the year before when he ran for 2,097 yards. Nobody else was over 4.3. The most rushing yards a year after a 2,000-yard season was Barry Sanders’ 1,491 in 1998 after his 2,053 season in 1997. But his per-carry average fell from 6.1 to 4.3. It’s not like these big drops are unique to 2,000-yard rushers. The top 23 rushing seasons in history (not including Barkley) have been followed by a significant yardage and per-carry drop. The most rushing yards in a season by a player who had more the next year? That would be Eric Dickerson’s 1,808 yards with a 4.6 as a rookie in 1983 followed by 2,105 and a 5.6 the next year. We’ll see this fall what kind of season Barkley can have on the heels of his electrifying 2,005-yard, 5.8-average season in 2024. The precedents are strong and not particularly encouraging. But none of those guys had this offensive line and this quarterback either.”
May 6, 20251 yr Agree..none of the RBs had this offensive line or ran the ball vs Nickel coverage in a single back set..like Barkley. Also...I don't think we need 2000 yards. I believe they didn't trust Shipley last year and used Gainwell more for other purposes than rushing. One would assume a trust in Shipley and usage f Dillon as a rusher...should take the need away from Barkley...especially on early downs. He may be actually used more on 3rd downs and passing situations this year though. Who knows... but a lot of anticipation going into this year.

He gets the notoriety and respect comes along with headlines of top paid C….which we all know, especially at his position of C, is what’s key to Pro Bowl balloting fluff.43 million is real (guaranteed) and 25 million (68 minus 43) is not guaranteed. That doesn’t mean the 25 is fake. It is just conditional.
