You cite individuals(and me in a band and yes I have had bad performances as the other members have had, but you cover them and go on) Individual sports rely on no one else except their coach(es) In golf, even when teams play, there is not 1 guy driving and another doing the putts. it's still an individuals game with combined scores, not the same thing. You cite Hurts as being the only reason we won the SB and that is simply not true and you forget all the efforts by everyone who got us there. TBH last year at 2-2. I was questioning my 12 win prediction and if the pull back of Hurts had not been made(technically that was 1/2 time of the Browns game), I doubt we would have gotten to the SB at ALL. I was seriously expecting a dog fight with KC once again. We all but blew that off the map.

You expected a dog fight against LC because you actually believed we HAD to pull things back ever. All we did was actually let our guys play. Blowout city…..

Ham, I told you I would slice and dice the Super Bowl Play By Play. Here is what it shows. 12 drives with Hurts as QB, with 32 series in those 12 drives. There were 13 3rd Downs of which 5 were 3rd and 7 or longer (highlighted in blue). 3 of the 5 did not achieve a 1st Down. One of the three was an interception and the other two resulted in field goals. Of the 32 1st Down plays, 7 were passes and 25 were runs. One thing that happens with the heavy emphasis on running plays is that opportunities for play action passes is significant. Also Spags' 8 in the Box approach left our Receivers covered one on one, and they feasted when called upon.

See it was a ton of work I already went through. But 3rd and 3 isn’t really even a running down. You skipped completely over how every single series we faced second and longs. Kept handed to Barkley for squat on first downs. Then like I corrected…Hurts ran for over 70 yards to make whatever was needed happen too.

I mean…anybody actually expecting Goedert to be doubled? Smitty? We had him and some a second TE. So doing that actually dictates the D put that many defenders in the box just as a reaction. Two TD sets….you think any D plays some Cloud heavy DB personnel stuff?

You say other QBs would put up so much more stats than Hurts if playing here. If your opinion was correct…how did Hurts sign for highest NFL pay?

Given the risk averse Offensive scheme, I don’t think any QB would put up much more stats.

I already did the research breaking down each play MattyWill. I stand by my statements. But…clearly have to include Hurts running as well as passing. Not like it was some wimp out negative for him to choose to run instead of pass. He killed them with his legs. He converted and made very key plays by running.

So talking about single coverage really only would apply to one single player:AJ.

You can’t say ohhh well Smitty boy scored that big pass play because he wasn’t double teamed.

Tell you what though….you play Man in coverage and turn your back to Hurts? He will ughh..hurt you big time.

I do appreciate the specific stat breakdown MattyWill. But all that actually didn’t prove my statement.

3rd and 7 is way behind on down and distance. I mean….much much less is clearly a passing down. Heck 2nd and 7 is very clear passing down.

They called AJ for OPI…to be noted. Hurts was money that play.

Given who wouldn’t hand off to the RB rushing for the grafter all time season? Dan Marino would hand off to Saquan so much even.

Risk adverse kind of applies. But what clearly indisputably applies is handing off to Saquan just killing people was a great option. Safer..,not passing….who knows? Any player jumping pro athletes and juking two others in one play….you give the ball to that guy.

I mean does there really need to be anything else to read into our O? What reason would any team ever…need more than hand off to the guy killing it?

Too much overthinking and trying to spin the most basic football situation complicated. Hand off to the guy having the best season ever! Any team! Any QB! Everr

All you making more of it than that…name the team in NFL history ever wouldn’t have handed to Saquan last season.

Risk adverse….pull back the QB…watch out for a blade of long grass….

Hand the ball to the guy doing it better than anyone ever. Offensive player of the year would be enough.

Not just team in NFL history. Name a player EVER was a better option than giving it to Barkley last season.

Your myopia is acting up again. Why do boxers jab and jab and jab? It is to get the opponent leaning so that they can be set up for a non-jab punch.

One of the complaints about Moore was the dismal 1st Quarter production. The explanation was that the scripted plays were put together the way they were to create specific "testing” scenarios in order to learn about the scheme the opponent was deploying.

Further, by going back to the Barkley well so consistently, what Moore and Stoutland were doing was keeping Spags in the one dimensional 8 in the box scheme … a scheme they could exploit. Hurts did indeed gain 72 yards, but only 25 of the 72 were in the 1st Half. The remaining 47 were in the 2nd Half when the game was already in the bag. Plus more than half of Hurts’ 25 1st Half rushing yards were scrambles on broken pass plays.

With all the above said, why do you think Hurts was so success on the passing attack in the 1st Half of the SB?

This is cupcake football stuff. Give the biggest weapon ever the ball. Why would there need to be a single reason beyond that?

Dude you doing everything possible to deny the obvious that Siri area was checking off on the script gameplan. That was one area he had final say. Geez man…I mean…what do you think Siri ever did beyond RockPaperScissors?

Barkley is only #9 in the top 10 rushers of all time.

Jim Brown

Gale Sayer

OJ Simpson

Eric Dickerson

Barry Sanders

One thing you can’t take away from the HC is authority of final decisions. Siri couldn’t be stopped from his control of the script. So clear and obvious. Exactly what showed as our embarrassing worst feature.

Never said otherwise. Which guy was a better option at any position …EVER…than Barkley last season? All that applies

Not relevant how Saquan did with Gmen. NFL strictly depends on what can you do for me right now. At what moment was Saquan a lesser option than anybody ever last season?
