So that makes Mahomes numbers as follows2026 = $46 million2027 = $42 million2028 = $42 million2029 = $45 million2030 = $46 million2031 = $48 million2040 = $200 millionAnd Hurts numbers are2026 = $32 million2027 = $42 million2028 = $47 million2029 = $167 million divided by 32030 = $167 million divided by 32031 = $167 million divided by 32040 = $200 millionWhat does that tell you?That your math is way off and for some reason you insist on not increasing the 2028 cap number for Mahomes even after adding 2 years of about $9 mil each of prorations. Why is it difficult to understand....If I convert $45 of salary into bonuses that it means $9mil gets forwarded both from 2026 to 2030 and 2027 to 2031...so 2028 is not going to remain at $42 mil for Mahomes...it's going to jump $18 mil higher to $60 mil?

If you move $200 million of that out to 2040 those three years end up with minus $21 million eachSo let's do a realistic scenario for Mahomes..convert $40 mil of salary to bonus in each of 2026 and 2027. That means 40 mil converts to 8 mil...saving 32 mil in 2026.... and 24 mil in 2027 ( because we have to add back in the 8 mil from 2026)Total savings 56 milThat 56 mil gets pushed to add to the following 2028 = 16 mil2029 = 16 mil2030 = 16 mil2031 = 8 milTotal pushed forward the same 56 milHow do the cap hits look now for Mahomes?2026 = 46.2 mil2027 = 50.36 mil2028 = 58.1 mil2029 = 60.5 mil2030 = 61.5 mil2031 = 56.375 mil

And I'd bet that if we extend Hurts that $97 mil comes down in 2029... and I know...you will be worried that eventually it will be do, but again realistically Mahomes will get extended as well and also have even more money pushed forward. I just like the Eagles position being better to both get out after 2028... or extend. The Chiefs are both stuck longer and with higher cap hits that they can't avoid. It's not a bad deal market wise ...but you can see where it's old school Joe Banner type setup compared to where Hurts deal is the modern Howie version. Not going to need constant restructure and have the ability to start over if needed.
June 1, 20251 yr Now where the time value of money matters... you take Barkley and Baun...combined cap hits are $11 milThe Eagles have that much less of a cap hit on their QB can enable them to do a couple more deals each year. Let's see how many players get signed or resigned in the next few years by each team. That's why 2029 doesn't concern me at all.

It is a benefit in the year(s) that the Cap money is moved out of and an equal dollar anti benefit in the year(s) that the Cap money is moved into. In absolute dollars the benefit is equal to the anti benefit, but in relative dollar terms the benefit has greater value than the anti benefit because (1) the total Cap is larger in the benefit’s year than in the anti benefit’s year so the benefit is a larger percentage of that year’s Cap, so the same dollar amount goes farther in the benefit year, and (2) the player contract requests are lower in the benefit year than in the anti benefit’s year, so the same amount of money goes farther. All the above does not change the fact that if you don’t transfer Cap into any individual year, you will have more money in that year to sign a Barkley or Baun.

Once you take the step to shift the exact same amount of dollars in Mahomes’ contract into the future years as are shifted in Hurts’ contract, then you have an apples to apples comparison … no matter what those future amounts may be and no matter what year(s) you choose.

Every GM eats crow now and then, but Howie cut bait on a bad deal and saved us 7+ million and got another draft pick, so as long as you are taking a loss, minimize it

You think that was just luck....you seriously don't see how they were getting better each week...with Carolina the exception?Seems you are the ignorant one….i knew they could dominate most the season once they got the O down. Which was proven…at the end. No reason they held back that super talented O backed up with that elite D.

I think while he is seen as a guy who plays to win I don't think teams outside of the Eagles will bid high for him because I absolutely believe that the perception is he does well on this team.. but won't replicate that with another team.He can win more SBs...and the league will ask why should we pay if the Eagles won't. They must know something. They will look at his performances without AJ... and really ask themselves do we have all the pieces to where it's worth paying him? And realize he is going to be over 30 at that point. Not old for a QB...but he us a running QB. 4 more years of that isn't going to make him more desirable. His performances without AJ? With Reagor instead of AJ….hr still overcame Siri’s crap start…in his crap O to make the playoffs. Floor for Hurts is a playoff team.

Would you take that chance as another team...4 years from now?Of course you pay the elite QB leader. No brainer! Just try to throw money at him. He’ll just do whatever it takes to overcome Siri and win!
June 1, 20251 yr Finally saw Hurts have a coach last season. Wow it was so great! Running a real O for a change. Even though Siri stuck his beak in and held everybody back. Once he got out of the way and let things cook…we couldn’t be stopped. Real brilliancy to try and put a cork on such an elite O…finally beggining to run an actual scheme. I bet our guys were wondering if they’d ever get out of that pathetic worst O scheme in the league they had the three previous seasons. Patullo helped build this new O with Moore. I sure hope he can get things going. Kellen Moore really wasn’t calling good plays. Best plays were audibles. So Patullo doesn’t have to do but so much. He might just be the guy that get Siri to back off out of things and let the O get rolling!
