No...more so Joe Banner from 30 years ago.

So if Deshaun Watson got $230 million in cash over 5 years, how much cash will Hurts get over 3 years?

Why do we care about the cash... only the cap hits matter

Because Lurie has to pay the cash. And whatever that cash amount is. Howie then has to account for it.

Do you agree that in a short 3-year contract with Hurts that 100% of the money will be guaranteed?

In his 5-year $255 million contract extension $179.3 million was guaranteed.

I agree from an accounting perspective, but we haven’t decided on what the amount of money is that we have to account for. How much cash does Hurts want?

Idk....but 10 years 450 million ... and Mahomes only had $47 million combined cap hits the first 3 years, barely $12 million the first 2. Hurts only $40 million the first 3 of his $51 AAV deal.

I'm not expecting much cap hit.... again....if the Eagles choose to resign him. Which i don't think is a guarantee.

The Cap hits are all that matters

Nope

Once we know the cash requirement we can make the Cap hit anything you want it to be.

The 3 year deal is the one that the Eagles absolutely don't guarantee. They get out of those.....Reddick, Huff, CGJ... always the out in those.

You can’t decide the Cap hits until you know the Cash requirement.

Right.. that's why I wouldn't expect it to be high

Will Hurts sign a non guaranteed contract? Or will he choose Free Agency?

You are getting hung up on the three years. Don’t. I have only chosen three years so that the Mahomes contract and the Hurts hypothetical contract expire at the same time 2031.

Wouldn’t expect the cash Hurts wants to be high? I would expect it to be very high. Huff just got $51 million in cash to do nothing.

I just gave you the 2 contracts with $45 AAV and $51 AAV...with small cap hits. So I don't care about cash or AAV....the cap hits shouldn't be high.

Plus... the mystery is still out there about these one year voids on these new deals. Idk if it's going to be the same for Hurts, Jurgens etc as it is for Kelce, Graham etc.

If we offer an extension to Hurts....does the 2029 cap hit lower...due to the 5 year prorations being allowed to continue?

That's what I'm expecting to be the thing Howie knows will be a loophole. Adding years to lower that 2029 cap hit...but having to wait until we get there to do it.

The reason why I say this...it seems from a cap perspective, the Eagles seem 5 years ahead of what the trend is as far as taking advantage of a loophole. It wouldn't surprise me if they wait til last minute to show their hand...which makes the other teams have to really study what happened and take some time before they catch up and use the same loophole.

To help this along, look at the table below and tell me how much cash per year each of the listed QBs will get if they play through to the end of their contract.

Which two contracts?

And with the QB factory don't you think the replacement plans will be in place? I'm not worried at all.

Hurts and Mahomes... 45 and 51 mill AAVs and very minimal cap hits first 3 years.

And if too high...bye bye

Mahomes will have more years added. You are too fixed on what the current deals show... not going to finish like that at all.

It isn’t a mystery. The 97 million can indeed be moved out into a future year, but it can’t be reduced. Dealing with the $97 million happens in Step three. We are still at the negotiating table with Hurts trying to come to a deal. That is step one.

To help explain...I'm not interested in AAV....I'll say again...I don't look at AAV..that's how a novice looks at it. That means nothing...it's a slow number....because I don't expect contracts to be played out to the end. Especially with the Eagles...they get out early one way or the other.

I meant a show # ..not slow...lol

It can be whatever you want it to be...plus add 5 million per...so we can move on. 90 mil AAV..how is that?

Okay let’s look at the cash page on either Spotrac or OtC and then look at the Cap page. What you are going to find is that at the end of the accounting period the cash total and the Cap total are the same dollar figure. The cash starts out high and gets low toward the end and the Cap starts low and gets high at the end. But assuming the contract isn’t prematurely terminated those two totals will always be equal.

You don’t expect Hurts to be an Eagle until the end of 2031?
