So we signed Keilan Robinson which is going to make things tougher on my boy MJ. Going to be an excellent RB competition

The comments about Robinson over on the blog are not at all flattery. They are downright negative about Robinson. Your guy is probably no worse than he was before the Robinson signing.

What is also being said is that the Robinson signing is all about return specialist rather than running back

Bottom line... our best 2 CBs will get paid as such.

The role thar each had last year should expand...because they were only rookies last year.

Mitchell... they need to expand his role into a CB that travels with the #1.... left, right , inside and outside

DeJean...needs to be the #2 that stays on the field in a rare 2 CB set. Those 7 or 8 snaps per game!

Expanding on their regular roles from last year.

Then they fill in the other spot accordingly

What this does...is adds versatility while keeping the best players on the field... in the best matchups!

Really not rocket science

How can you judge DeJean as the second best outside CB? He hasn’t even done it yet. Why don’t we let him try in practice and maybe a PS game first.

It’s not me. See you are just projecting the problem on to me. This is an NFL issue and historical situation.

Howie got lucky... remember John Lynch was a safety

Yeah Lynch was a great S. Rosie wouldn’t have drafted him or paid him as a FA though we know.

Howie won 2 SBs because he is lucky. Preach my man.... champion your boy Johnny in SF.

I didn’t say that either. But it was you that stated emphatically Hurts will never win a SB!!

Talent on the field isn’t important to the NFL. Size of the audience is what is important to the NFL. More cities means larger audience and more revenues.

Exactly. Water it down.

I believe the second best outside CB should be out there with Q. Let them all compete. See who earns it. DeJean made some great plays. Strong start for the rookie. But he played one position. Played it great! Let’s not just start writing all these checks about what DeJean can do in the NFL until we actually get some glimpses at least of him in that role ….preferably under live fire.

See maybe DeJean better at S. Probably actually better fit for him than outside. Easier for him to pickup a couple basic roles at S. Not saying I doubt him outside. Just saying that his versatility I do believe exists in the NFL. But outside thinking kid going to need much more work.

See I’m actually fairly opposite. Think I’ve moved ahead of the older traditional football ideas more. I understand the value of Slot on O and D. I think it’s really very important. Inside no sideline to aid a CB. All that traffic around the Slot CB.

But John Lynch....just a great GM.

Nope. Gotta complete the Championship puzzle. Just like I held Rosie too. Lynch can’t do it. Flat out was drafting fantastic for years. But never made good QB decisions. Paying huge money to nothing special QBs like Purdy and Garrapolo. Just desperation chasing QBs even.

Lynch built one heck of a team there though. A team hurting for a QB all that time yet so many NFC championship games over so long a period. Clearly a stacked roster of some incredible studs to just keep getting there year after year like that.

All a matter of standards. You can feel like talent is super abundant and nonissue. But I totally disagree. Just simple ….less teams equals higher talent on the field

It’s a comparison of available level of talent choices. If you give a huge roster then you just grab guys and hold on to them. Several just being protected on the roster but not suiting up. Which isn’t what you really want. You don’t want to just give even more room for teams to just stash guys that don’t play.

Lynch clearly WAY BEHIND in the results.

See everything you are associating with me I didn’t say. You’re just putting words in my mouth and then making fun of the words and thoughts you created…for me.

Stack him up against the other 31 GMs each season he’s been there. He is a great GM. Very good probably more fitting. He just failed at finding a QB all this time. He spent so much going after it too. But a SB and 7 NFC Championship games. Not bad at all. Goal is win the SB. That part I believe he directly has failed the Niners. They been dominating and great team most every season over a decade. But not built to win the Lombardi.

Your prejudice is showing through. The evidence for that is that:

the #1 CB is being paid $30 million per year,

the #6 CB is being paid $20 million,

the #11 CB is being paid $19 million,

the #16 CB is being paid $18 million,

the #21 CB is being paid $13 million,

the #26 CB is being paid $12 million,

the #31 CB is being paid $10 million,

the #36 CB is being paid $7.5 million,

the #41 CB is being paid $5.5 million,

the #46 CB is being paid $3.8 million,

the #51 CB is being paid $3.5 million,

the #56 CB is being paid $3.25 million,

the #61 CB is being paid $3 million, and

the #66 CB is being paid $2.5 million.

That is 32 teams worth of 2 starting CBs. What is the NFL ”pay scale” that describes that wide distribution of annual pay.

And yes, the problem is you projecting an issue where there is no issue. The free market is working just fine.

I have never seen Joe say that. Unless you can provide evidence that he said it it is just you being a liar once again. You really are good at it.

When an audience gets larger it is going UP not DOWN. Water may be down, but the NFL’s wet dream is up.

That is your opinion, it is like an a-hole … everyone has one.

Ham, how is Hurts’ $255 million contract higher than Mahomes’ $450 million contract?

Math is definitely not your best subject.

You are behind, the NFL already did that by expanding the PS and now adding 2 more possible "roster" spots. Where ya been??? Did they add spots to the PS because there wasn't enough talent to fill the spots?

Why do we care about the *&*^! 49ers? If he was a "great GM" why would he have problems finding a QB??? Sounds like a fail to me. It was BAD team building, he built a team THEN tried to drop in QB's. You get your QB first then build around him like HOWIE did. Howie blows him AAWAAAAAAY

Your memory seems to be failing you.

Don’t you remember how in recent years, especially 2021, opposing QBs carved up the Eagles with quick release crossing completions in front of our 4 DBs? Those quick release QBs were constantly converting 3rd downs and moving the chains. Our Defense couldn’t get off the field. The seams between zones in the Zone Defensive scheme were also regularly being exploited. With DeJean as the 5th DB in Fangio’s light box 4-2-5 scheme, all of that has stopped.

Because to me it's football... the offense gets open and the defense covers. To me Dejean is the 2nd best cover guy on the team... doesn't matter where he lines up

Have you ever played football? If so, you would realize it's much more difficult to cover someone in the middle of the field where you can't use the sideline to help. DeJean is the 2nd best cover guy..plus a better tackler.

Also.... when we go to 2 CBs ....those 8 plays a game... more so due to stopping the run than the normal base Defense that uses Nickel.... DeJean tackles better.

Absolutely no reason he won't be out on the field in 2 CB sets.

I want him covering someone. Not playing passive as a safety. Engage in the Mano y Mano battle. Look at his coverage on Jamar Chase on the 4th and 1...look at his coverage on Kupp, tackle on Henry. That's a guy with multiple skills that you want engaged in the dog fight.
