Well then see the blame and how Hurts needs to correct it,that is how you progress. He is going to be bull rushed and he needs to have a response other than giving points away

Usually he escapes…. Or most of the Oline blocks…or somebody gets open

"Ok coach I screwed up,how or what can I do to fix it" It's not hard, just ask and improve

Field presence/vision or whatever name you attach to it. he needs to be more aware of where EVERY receiver on the field will be EVERY play, that is his job to do

That is true,my point is if you see you aren't escaping and have to throw it away throw it in a receivers general direction and you don't get flagged. he was in the EZ he needed to know where to throw it away and he did not

He was clearly just trying to throw it away…didn’t make it

Answer? Expect whole supporting cast to fail always and take the snap and get in the fetal position sucking your thumb?

He should not have to try to do everything himself,we have the weapons,we have the O line and he needs to use them. if there is a break down, you need to know what to do,make the decision and get the ball out in the general direction of someone, but see he didn't know where they were and threw into an open field. you can't do that it will get flagged every time

Yes that's it

That would have been better than giving points away and giving them the ball back

1 read and panic is not an offensive game plan

Brady would stand in there and make you PAY

The flaw I see.... he has been able to run away from everyone his whole life...it's why he thought he could pump fake and get away with it.

Yeah as Ham said usually he can do that, but after the pump fake when he knew he was in trouble is where the mistake happened. You cant run straight back, take the sack and get another play. he tries to do too much himself instead of using the tools he has IMO

You can clearly see he had no idea where his receivers were on the field

The rules say the receiver needs to be "in the vicinity" and he throws where there is nobody even close. He has to know where these guys are. He should be able to throw within 5-6 yards or his receivers blindfolded. There is no reason to throw into an empty field. That's the brain game

That is my issue it's 1 read, then he has no idea where reads 2,3,4 are on the field and he needs to do that

Hurts won't be perfect, nor do I expect him to be,what I expect is that he learns to be smarter. That would be progress for me. Show me you at least know where your guys are on their routes on the field, that's your job

Rant over

Yeah Brady sure did a bunch of things. I’m not having expectations of Hurts achieving Brady levels. Gotta have much more realistic expectations and planning than those thoughts. Hurts will never be Tom Brady.

I believe the plan should be based on Hurts being very good and accentuate his strengths. If you are basing any plans on him being Hall of Fame level…probably be disappointed. I do believe if we put a franchise  around him he can be a part of a championship. That’s all I ask.

hurts one strength ... on the football field, not for the movie you want to write, but the TANGIBLE thing.... is that he runs well.    so exactly what we have all been saying, and are concerned about.   There hasn't been a Superbowl winning QB whose offense was based on his running.

But No Mas there is so much more that goes into it.... nope, I'm not talking about his sparkling personality and him as a human being... I'm talking about what he can do on the field. My concern, since he was a pee wee... he runs the ball.   (most combined this and that)  it's fantasy football... it doesn't translate to Superbowls.  Not by itself.

So I don't care about his running accomplishments... for the Eagles to win the SB, his ability to read a defense and make throws is what needs to improve, so that they can run more offense.   As you said, the league has caught up to the read option.

Again... the 10 players around him are arguably the best in the league.    Why do you take this personally?

As I stated, if Hurts is the 9th, 10th, 11th best QB in the world.... plus all these intangibles that you say he has... then this should be an elite offense.   The game is offense today.   This should translate into being a very good team.  Especially when you look at the schedule.

The 11th best talented QB in the world.... with extreme intangibles.... should thrive in Philly in 2024.

My issue... can this QB play NFL QB as the passer... the full time passer who can just use the running as a tool, not as the basis of his play.   If so, then we are in great shape.

I don't see any reason other than if the QB fails to do this... and obvious injury... that our offense shouldn't be elite level.

And you know why I am optimistic about THIS YEAR!

1.  This is a huge one... I do NOT think the 2023 Eagles were equipped to fix anything in 2023.  Those problems were not fixable last year.   The DTs were shot after the Buffalo game.  Reddick was worried about his personal stats.  Byard came in and messed everything up.   AJ got hurt, it was done.

2.  I personally believe the first step of fixing anything, is identifying the issues.   The issues I saw... roster wise.

Running game, had no Bell cow or a 3rd member of the committee.  They weren't equipped to run the ball 40 times if needed.  They addressed that.    The slot WR was a non fit, you need that guy that can get open in a phone booth, short yardage.  That plays to the QB's strength!

Defense, LBs were all over the place... we basically signed the Reddick of Tampa, except he wanted to come here all along, not hold out like Reddick.  We added a draft pick and a specific free gent that the DC wanted.   Now Dean will have to work for it, instead of being handed the job.  In the secondary we got younger and more physical.  Plus much added depth that was missing.     The biggest thing... a DC that won't play 12 yards off on 3rd and 8.

So... when you identify and address the specifics.  Do so in a way that you also called out the young players that you need to step up.... The QB and the MLB as prime examples.

Plus the schedule is much easier as far as logistics.. and stacked opponents with extra rest...etc.

That's where I see good things happening.   Obviously injuries are a concern.   Kelce and Cox are big pieces, but they hung around long enough to lead by example.  It's not like they  just hung these kids out to dry.  OMG the complicated blocking scheme, how will Jurgens handle it...lol.

I just can't see anyone who it completely blind and in love with this QB...and think this team won't be successful if he plays well.  Even if he plays just ok.

Clearly he got caught. Not the first time…and he’s not the only QB it’s happened to. Tough play. Under that kind of extreme duress I wouldn’t teach my QB to chuck it towards defenders too much though…bad things really happen then.

Like the end of the Jets game.

Again, all mistakes that he can learn from... because with those intangibles and work ethic... he should realize it was his fault and put the work in to get better.  If one truly believes this, then he should be confident about this year.

PLUS 3 things.....   1.  We add motion.    2.  We add the QB under center.     3.  Apparently they are really working on Hurts throwing across the middle and rolling to the left.  Identifying those weaknesses.  Admitting those weaknesses.    That's all good stuff.

I would be nervous if the QB and those around him seemed to think he did nothing wrong.  So far doesn't seem the case.  Especially when talking about how more vocal Hurts has been... admitting it was a problem last year.

Your QB is the most important player on the team... doesn't have to be the best, but he is the most important, the player the game revolves around... it seems the organization no longer has it's head up it's collective ass and realizes the QB needed to fix things.  Remain authentic, but still alter some things.    It was a problem for the hunter from North Dakota, zero self awareness... it seems the organization has learned from it, and communicated this with the current QB.

Again, when you can admit problems, that's the first step to fixing them.
