Plenty of teams have a top CB. Anybody can double team. But targeting any Ds fourth or fifth best cover player is a gold mine to tap into.

This is true looking at most any NFL D full strength. But injuries to DBs is so very common. So that fourth option in coverage usually is a real poor player. A guy prone to mistakes…with limited experience and limited physical attributes. You don’t need to be Randy Moss to kill it beating that guy.

Just a decent WR could consistently go over 100 yards easy just because of the matchup situation. Even good depth teams he could….but most games he’s facing a total scrub just blowing coverages making mistakes.

This one decent WR would force a nightmare for a DC. Because we could kill them in Man looks. Especially in double AJ man looks. Almost force every DC to play Zones.

Wish we could have discussed that Jets game like civilized die hard Eagles fans. Gold mine of information there about our team.

We did so much of things that work for us in that Jets game. It wasn’t sack…total Defense and Punt like you describe No Mas. We went over the middle. Threw Quick Slants to AJ. Ran the ball. We moved the ball that first half so consistently against a very excellent D and D mind. They couldn’t stop us. We had bad turnovers kill us. Goedert had that perfect pass bounce off him….that went for an interception. Killed a drive. Swift fumbled that killed a drive. Elliot missed a kick. Then Hurts threw that bad pick at the end.

We were doing all the things most of us were complaining about needing to see the rest of the season. Over the middle passing FL desires. Quick timing passes…I was begging for. I wanted to discuss and show how it really looks like that Jets game is what got us out of doing these things. All this stuff was working. We were moving the ball against a D playing great. But we had other things derail us. So the perception comes off like you stated No Mas….D fest…because we didn’t put up the points. So just looking at the scoreboard what was very unstoppable for us looked ineffective. So we got away from it because of what happened in that Jets game. It jaded our vision about our team and these bread and butter plays.

Patrick Mahomes ran 6 times for 44 yards against us in the SB. Look at how many yards Lamar has run in both fantastic MVP seasons. Running is a part of the NFL game. Hurts is good enough….running the ball is part of his game. I just want him to be the best version of himself. You just got your head stuck on he has to be some other player to win. He doesn’t.

Whoa.... 6 times...that's the 1st quarter in plenty of games for Hurts.

I think our secondary is being overlooked and will surprise some

The depth to me is a key part of a secondary in the modern NFL.  Offense only needs one advantage...the secondary has to be able to cover everyone as best they can.

It's going to be fun for me watching this team gel. Bark and the WR's should be great out of the gate. If Goedert is used correctly(not the crap from last year) we should be fine. Hopefully we can extend drives and not have the defense on the field for 45 minutes a game. People forget CJG is pretty good! And if Mitchell learns fast he could be a shut down. Still curious where they plan to fit DeJean into this defense. I believe the packers are in for a rude awakening in Brazil, but that's just me lol

The Washington Commanders are being sued by The Native American Guardians Association, which has been trying to get the Commanders to change the name back to Redskins.
The lawsuit states:
"The logo on the Redskin’s helmet is an actual person, it’s Chief White Calf. Every time they go out on that field, they were honoring Chief White Calf and they were battling on the football field with the same honor and integrity and courage. They should continue to honor that.”
Via NBC Montana.     I will call them the Wuss as usual until it's changed back because of the moronic caving/pandering BS

It seems the Eagles have been working on this.   Along with QB under center, motion, rolling left..etc.

Bunch of the short passing game

You stated only running three times. When even the guy you are comparing him to is running six times. Didn’t game than forty years ago. You can still be a pocket passer. But the game evolved. Elite freaks playing LB and Dline just are so much  more ….in most any way.

You are just stuck on making Hurts somebody else. Makes no sense. He is who he is …embrace it.

Caught in the moment of recency bias. Dak had a huge stat season. But I look for more than the stats. The guy has never won a playoff game. Stinks in most big games. I’d rather have a just decent player that can handle the pressure moments. Number one O last season. How did it go in the postseason? Really any postseason. A guy who’s a stud week one but can’t win a playoff game really does nothing for me.

They were 31st last season…only because Washington was historically bad. But I think Fangio can really make things quite difficult for O’s to read. I expect it take time. He’s likes to roll coverages. Have two high S and much of the time show different  than the actual playcall. Disguise. But it takes time to get all these guys working this stuff out. Moving parts and guys gotta really know their job…but also the others job. That way they pass things off and can be moved to be interchangeable. That makes it very tough to read for any QB. That’s what the good D does. They trick you. They understand the rules that most O follow. So this allows them to completely be setup for it.

Sure is huge. The little guys have to run 4.4 or better to be a DB pretty much. So very few can make it through playing 20 games. Think it especially is a need when you are trying to extend a player like Slay. He needs to be able to suit up in the playoffs healthy. He looks to have a ceiling of 9 or 10 games he can suit up for at this point in his career.

I know we are transitioning this kid from WR to TE,but I would be really tempted to use him as the slot near the GL. I know he is a rook, but he has 4.6 speed(fast for a TE).

I just know about this kid. Only so many roster spots. Hard to see where he fits in.

We have depth,it's just untested. Paris has played, but the numbers aren't good, perhaps his career will be rejuvenated here, Ainias rookie-jury out although he was "my guy" in the draft. Johnny from FSU,also a rook, jury out. Covey, not really used as a receiver. Don't know much about the other roster WR camp bodies-jury out. I see nothing wrong with adding a BU outside guy like Michael Thomas. If  AJ misses time,Smith can slide into the slot(ala JJ). If Smith misses time, you'd still have AJ/Thomas out.Thomas has lost a step, but still a viable outside BU. I really don't care what the other 31 teams have or don't have. If we can add a little depth, then we should. if we're going to try another run(which I expect we will) then you are going to need outside guys down the stretch. Once again we have some untested slot guys, Ainias COULD play outside but he is untested there also. Adding a vet like Thomas or similar would make sense. We have enough loot left to do it. Let the other 31 teams do whatever they want,I don;t care what they do or don't do. Even if none miss time, there is an option to use all 3 with Smith in the slot. You'd have 3 experienced weapons that way. Rotate Paris, ainias or whomever. The more looks you give the tougher the defenses have it

I’m thinking bigger …find a trade. There will be options. Not thinking as big a move as Aiyuck…but a quality WR.

Finished 7th because the whole team collapsed. I'm glad Hurts is being more vocal now,we need him to lead now. Being "nice" and a fun guy to hang out with is great, but all have jobs to do and they need to do them for 18 games

I don’t know if I’d say they collapsed on O as much as the book was out on them….and couldn’t adapt.
