I don't care what Arod does. He relies on his coaches to get them up to(his) speed(which is what they are paid to do). I'm sure he doesn't call them names and try to alienate them LOL. I'm happy Hurts welcomes new guys,that's NICE.but what matters is what happens on the field. Nice guys finish last. Arod expects things from his supporting cast. Hurts isn't there yet. Arod doesn't need to be a babysitter

First point I’d argue is about the selfless top two receivers. When they paid Smitty …everybody knew that AJ was going to become an issue. Rosie fully understood that with signing Smitty he had to pay AJ more to feed his ego. Or else a real bad situation was going to develop.

It’s just how everyone tries to point out how AJ and Smitty make our WRs the greatest. So easy to gloss over anything behind them. That’s where we’ve been majorly failing. We keep having a guy out there all the time that stinks. A blocking receiver. It’s nice they can block….but they need to catch some too if they actually are a WR or TE.

I don’t think so. I think I just don’t get the opportunity much to discuss his mistakes and downsides. It’s just a constant barrage here about blaming him for everything. I offer up things that are negative about Hurts. I recognize how he deserved to be benched for Tua at Bama. Then transferred and was runner up to Burrow having the greatest season in college football season. Runner up for MVP. Guys that aren’t half as good don’t handle that benching situation like Hurts did. He’s proven now how elite stud player he is. But he didn’t pout and cause a huge scene about being benched. He took it like a man.

I’ve pointed out how his height does affect his ability to see over the middle. Our Oline are all like 6’ 5”. It’s a limitation. That’s why they have the prototypical QB measurements. Why he fell to the second round. He didn’t have this massive arm and was shorter than has been labeled what works in the NFL. Just like how that stereotype used to be against black QBs too.

Brees was his same size,just destroyed people downfield. Hurts needs to use his legs to see the throwing lanes(another fault he has). Find an open lane and it doesn't matter how tall anyone is. This is the little stuff he needs to do

It has really shaped Hurts. He really has been tested. Very adverse situation. Did he shrink? Did he disrupt the team making things all about him? Also he played in the biggest games college ball has to offer. He got benched….and answered by putting up a Heisman worthy season. That’s the character of our leader. No stage is too big for him to not be ready for. No situation will he give up. If we are down multiple scores? He isn’t going to play it safe and pad stats to make himself look good. He’s going to do whatever gives a chance to win. Chuck it up …plenty of QBs won’t risk it to their stats. But if it’s only one percent chance and it gives the only chance to win….thats what he’s doing.

Brees had brilliant coaches. What was it Schottenheimer in San Diego? Then Sean Payton. The coach needs a QB that can do the job.  But giving him a top O mind to explain the game and set him up was always key. 

But Brees I’d argue is one of the best QBs all times.

Hurts is fabulous runner(see I can give him accolades too). IMO he needs 3 things to be really great. 1)pocket presence(aka moving within the pocket not running in a panic when read 1 is covered) 2) field vision,seeing all 5 reads and going back to 1 ,moving onto open throwing lanes 3) Better head game. Sometimes his decision making stinks. There is no question he is a superior runner,but he has the tools to be a more effective passer if he can improve on said 3 points. it takes time and he should start displaying some of this NOW. I'm looking forward to seeing it happen

I’ve never seen anybody like Brees. So deadly accurate. So brilliant understanding the game. But gotta believe being under Payton played a large role in that. I can’t believe Drew Brees becomes that same player under the tutelage of Siri.

Picks will kill you as we know. Chucking it up has it's risks. He needs to make sure the odds are better than he has

He is a fantastic runner. But he threw some absolutely incredible passes these past two seasons. He really stepped up. Now he has dealt with a different coordinator every year of college and Pros except 2022. So I think that has affected him in this area some. He never has been able to develop in some areas of being a QB because if this. I agree a little with you. But you constantly label him as one read and run. Which just isn’t the case.
