August 5, 20242 yr Btw....the last year of the rookie contract is the best value for a team to keep the player, regardless if they plan to sign him or not. Beau Allen the NT Chip drafted...stuck around 2 years in Schwartz's 4-3 D...and played well that last year helping win a SB.

But 31 other teams are out there drafting, signing and trading for players The arm chair know it all GM really doesn't work in the NFL Very easy to say " my team needs this " all the teams do that...and 31 of them ultimately don't have enough. What we don't know is what's going on behind the scenes. To act like we do, and that " i would have done this or that" just ignorant. So why are you acting like you know so well about who is and isn’t available?

Are you saying no team could have offered enough that we would have traded Beau Allen?

I'm saying the players entering years 3 and 4 have their best values...especially ones drafted after the 1st round. Those are players teams aren't in a rush to trade away.

Round 1's are your high dollar trade candidates(prima donnas) as their contracts come up,rounds 2,3,4 are the meat of your team and those are the keepers(aka re-signers). Just seems how it works

Just seems how it works I'm saying even if the teams don't plan to resign....like I don't believe we will resign Milton Williams or Gainwell.... but their value as a cheap vet and then a potential company pick is there where teams aren't looking to trade them away. This is a time where they are experienced vets, but still physically young...and still inexpensive. Teams aren't in a rush to give that away, even if just one year of service left...they put in the work developing these guys, they want the reward.

Yeah we let alot test FA,then bring them back on the cheap when they overvalue themselves. Howie is pretty adept at gauging the market. Not 100% perfect, but he's pretty good

If he gets a chance with the 1's I bet he would show us a few things. Will Grier is fine as QB3. See if any QB's get hurt in camp and we can trade Pickett if we wanted to. Maybe we should do that ASAP and get that out of the way. I know he was on a 2 year, but if he sucks may be time to cut bait
August 5, 20242 yr Author Another kid I liked a few years ago was Brett Rypien. I said back then he was very raw and would need alot of time to bring out his skills. I still think he could be a viable 2 also, but I like McKee better. Will Grier had some nice looking highlights,so Kenny is walking a thin line

Gainwell I do think we’d be willing to trade very possibly. All depends on our power dynamics. We know for sure Siri wouldn’t trade him, but I think Moore and Rosie would. Milton is about to have a pretty big season…. in his contract year. So obviously going to be very key how things go down. Right now we could extend him much cheaper than he’ll be come FA.
August 5, 20242 yr But if you’re Milton and his agent I think he’d almost have to be betting on himself right now. He’s a clearly ascending player that is setup in pretty good D setup for him to thrive I’d think. Basically he’s going to double his salary with his play this season.

So pulling him into third emergency QB could be a smart usage of the roster.
August 5, 20242 yr Tedarrell Slaton signed a 4 year , $3,760,520 contract with the Green Bay Packers, including $280,520 signing bonus, $280,520 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $940,130. This could easily explain a reasoning for GB to get out after really paying him nothing…while most of his four year contract is paid out this year.
