He was staging a hold-in throughout training camp and the preseason, but according to Schefter, it ultimately didn't change the deal in the end.

That’s why some people seem to forget the players have to actually sign contracts for GMs to get them done.

Not going ‘all in.’ But fielding tough team for the league to deal with. So one guy that can maybe get 400-500 yards was the one guy that meant we weren't all in? ONE guy???. If we aren't all in you need your head examined. Even without Dotson we would still be all in. We would just find different ways to get it done. Dotson is icing on the cake. It's not like we had a POS RB and missing an outside WR and our TE was MEH with a crap O The D should really be much better now and why would Howie bother to go get Dotson, other than the fact we are ALL IN???? Why would be do it?

Why would be do it? We just obviously see things very different. You endlessly stated how last seasons team was the best in the league…with poor coaching, no LBs…not much at S. So yes I’ll very much hold to my own opinions on what it takes to win an NFL Championship. Last year’s squad wasn’t doing it. This year’s team is good. Getting that third WR I believe did get us over the hump to make this te a contender. ‘All in’ .,,is a whole other level. You lack imagination.

All these WR were waiting on Jefferson to break the bank. The leverage on negotiations for WR as very strong around Jefferson signing…even if slightly before. Also though…looking at Aiyuck…was he that guy worth just paying like that after 2022? He made a fairly significant jump in 2023.
August 31, 20242 yr Niners paid big bucks to Nick Bosa last offseason. Stole our disruptive DT Hargrave with a big contract last year.
August 31, 20242 yr But No Mas at least you seem to be showing some understanding of how a GM really can’t be judged on one offseason. Just doesn’t work that way.
August 31, 20242 yr But yeah I don’t think signing Aiyuck to that contract was a great move…even with me obviously pointing out how I was high on his talents on his draft day.

You don't remember the negotiation all offseason? You puff your chest out as a closet SF fan due to the last 2 weeks? OMG August 10th... lol SF F#$%ed up! First not doing a a deal last offseason, secondly not offering the $27 mil right away this offseason. Their arrogance as an organization... not only did they mess up with Aiyuk... not paying Trent Williams is just ignorant. Again... doing contracts is a separate thing. The players are already here... you don't have the decision of using assets to get them, you already do. From there you control. You wait and it costs money.... instead the smart move that you were ripping just like the idiot who wrote the " indebtedness" article. Clueless. Lock the guys up early, way better in the long run. SF is screwing themselves big time.
August 31, 20242 yr Retaining Aiyuck wasn’t a great value signing. It was clearly a ‘All in’ signing though. To be serious about getting the job done this season they need him. Without him could they have won the West and stacked up well against NFC competition? Yeah…I think so.

But per usual ...you will play dumb that SF could have offered the $27 in April and gotten the deal done. Keep gloating about the August 10th offer.... yep, thats when this started...lol

In April when they could have signed him for $27 mil per... he wouldn't have been as bad. Last year, he would have been way less. But hey... August 10th baby...puff out the chest Johnny boy! John Lynch best GM in the NFL. Contracts and QB ... those minor details aside... but hey, LB

Think I heard it leaked the Pats were willing to aggressively back up the trick for him. What reason or proof is there Aiyuck would have signed for 27 mil? Heck he’s been refusing 30 for weeks now. It all really depends on how the contract is written anyway. This generic 30 mil per can be real…or mostly BS. I haven’t seen the exact breakdown yet.

Wow.... well... this is why its difficult to have a conversation with you. You deny stuff that was obvious afterwards and pretend like it never happened. Like when my son hit his sister right in front of me... " I didn't do it" lol Whatever works for you my man. Go 49ers!
August 31, 20242 yr All the evidence I’ve been seeing has suggested Aiyuck has been in it to play hard ball all the way. It’s seemed like he just wasn’t going to sign up until TC was over.
