The most important thing Smith's progress has provided is an example of being patient the next time the haters start throwing "Bust" around 3 games into a rookie's season.

You think Ainias Smith has progressed that far?  I don’t think he got any snaps last game.

The NBA is so Fing lame and I'm so glad ratings are dropping and no one gives a crap about it anymore. Ever since that rigged Fing league had it out for the Sixers and tried at every turn to screw them I've been low key hoping the league goes under. I hate it and just want it gone. Obviously, that's never going to happen, but I'd settle for major hardships and a lot of people involved suffering or feeling the heat.

And F your stupid NBA cup, I love how badly they try to make it a thing and not a soul on earth cares about it.

It's a shame the NBA has become this bad.   Used to be worth watching, even the regular season.

Heard a discussion about this the other day.  Compared it to MLB some years ago when the game wasn't very good.  Was either HR or strikeout.  Then they made some rule changes and it helped somewhat.  NBA is going to have to make some changes as well.

Nah, it's the entire league, not just the 76ers. Just read that over the last 12 years, viewership is down 48% and I think a whopping 26% over the last year.

-No one, and I mean no one cares about the stupid NBA Cup.

-The courts, the uniforms...it's all too much. Teams don't have a visual identity anymore. You can't cheer and relate to teams that you don't even know are playing when you look at them on TV.

-Load management. Just a joke.

-The on court product is garbage. 3 ball, 3 ball, 3 ball. Miss, miss, miss. Move down court for other possession...3 ball, 3 ball, 3 ball. It's just painful.

-Just not enjoyable to watch at all.

Almost all the teams play the same way. It’s happening in baseball too. It is hard to watch sometimes especially when the ball doesn’t move.

Yup, went from a full contact sport with a mix of dribble drive, big men in the post, mid range game and outside shooters to an optimized dart throwing contest. Styles make fights, and the NBA has very little fight left in it.

Reminder Eagles are 4-11-1 in games started by a QB other than Hurts since he was drafted by the Eagles.

That's a really weird stat to keep track of

Few shows are talking about how healthy the Eagles are.  Holy crap I hope that's not like the FG announcer jinx. These next three games can't go fast enough.

Agree the nba cup is ridiculous. But, the only ones who screwed the Sixers are themselves. Atrociously run organization.

The Sixers have done a million things wrong as an organization, but the NBA has tried to make an example out of the Sixers for years and the NBA has targeted them specifically.

-Adam Silver bullied Josh Harris into firing Hinkie and hiring the Colangelos. Trash Harris for backing down like a worm if you want, but the point is Silver hasn't done this with any other organization no matter how bad they are. Only the Sixers.

-The Sixers get routinely investigated for things every organization in the league does, but only the Sixers get investigated for it. Every 6 months the NBA investigates the Sixers for a signing or a player missing games. Meanwhile, for example, LeBron just took like a week off in the middle of the season for no apparent reason and the NBA doesn't bat an eye.

-In games, challenges are always one sided. It's so bad it's basically a meme now with fans and reporters. A Sixers player will get tackled and there will be no call, Nurse will challenge and refs will uphold the no call. Or on defense a Sixers player will swipe at a ball, refs will call a foul, replay will clearly show the Sixers player didn't touch them, and it was all ball, Nurse will challenge and the call will be upheld. Meanwhile, on the other end, an opposing player will drive to the basket, a Sixers player will pick them clean all ball, the opposing coach will challenge, and the call will be overturned and a foul will be called. This has happened like 30 times this season already alone. And has happened with the Sixers for years. There's a reason "Sixers will never win a challenge" is like a meme now.

Two things can be true... the Sixers are a horrendously ran organization and the NBA also has it out to get them.

From PFF:

Landon Dickerson exited Philadelphia’s Week 15 game against Pittsburgh and was replaced by Tyler Steen at left guard. Steen earned a 30.7 PFF overall grade on his 49 snaps against the Steelers, which was the lowest on Philadelphia’s offensive line.

Right guard Mekhi Becton allowed three sacks over his first four games of the season but has not given up any in his past nine games.

Howie, please re-sign Becton.

I think it's basically 2 major impacts:

1. Style of Play -- people liked watching the Warriors bomb away from 3 because they had generational shooters in Curry and Klay (later KD). But no one wants to see the entire game played this way by all teams. The NBA used to get fans excited because it had the most ridiculous physical displays on the court -- Magic's passing, MJ dunking, even Hakeem with the Dream Shake. Now guys like Anthony Edwards are jacking up 10 3s a game instead of driving and dunking. It's a boring product.

2. Lack of Stars -- the NBA, more than any other league in US sports, is driven and carried by signature stars. Bird and Magic. Dr. J. Jordan. Shaq and Kobe. While the Spurs were dominant with Duncan, they were never great ratings draws. Now, the biggest name in the NBA is 40 years old and about to retire. Curry and KD are past their primes as well. Who is taking over? Jokic? He's boring. Tatum? Zero personality. Luka? Embiid? Giannis? We need an American. Add on, LeBron, Steph and KD are all out west, so their games are generally on after prime time on the east coast. Nobody is getting excited for Tatum vs. Brunson at 8pm on TNT.

Mere banning is too good for him.   He should be forced to become a Jets fan.

Foelsch sounds like how Lou Holtz would enunciate Foles

In fairness to Steen, he came in cold against Cam Heyward, who is a load. After the first two holding calls he settled down and played competently the rest of the game. But, yeah, Becton is a monster and will only get better.

They say it and it's on me?

Bryce Huff was figuring it out as he got hurt.

We still lack an impact 3rd down pass-rusher.

IF he can give us 15 good pass-rush snaps a game, that's massive.

That sounds good but I don’t think it would always work. It takes a QB a minimum of two years to develop well enough to be competent at the position, sometimes longer. OTOH, Atlanta doesn’t look so stupid now with the draft pick they made, just with the $100M they guaranteed Cousins. Same with the Giants.

Another approach: two (or more) QBs rotating with specific packages. We still see traces of that with, say, Wilson and Fields. It was once not unusual to do this. The Cowboys did it with Meredith and Staubach. The Giants once did it with three QBs - Connelly, Heinrich, and Shaw. The Eagles did it with Jaworski and Cunningham. Etc.

Interesting concept of QB packages.

My thinking is that you move towards running QBs. The tradeoff is generally that a QB who is really good at running doesn’t have the arm talent or the vision/experience to be a good pocket passer.

But on the positive side, these highly mobile QBs have a much more reliable skill set from a drafting perspective, and are also far more fungible as players within an offensive system. The whole read option concept has been a revelation for the NFL, because it’s a simple math game. I think you can leverage this along with the strategy of high QB turnover coupled with a strong supporting cast to essentially commodify QBs within the offensive system.

Perhaps one would be best served to marry these two concepts: with a 3 man depth chart, you would have 2 QBs with a skill set leaning towards running and then one who was the "designated passer” so to speak. Bring in that designated passer on third and long or for the 2 minute drill. Otherwise use running QBs and a Lions type of RB rotation to brutalize defenses.

Relevant to us. Doubt he plays this week, but WSH-PHI RD1 is very possible.

Becton is just as important to the-sign as Baun.

Only good thing is our oline has been bullying teams all year so should be able to do the same even with him back plus he will probably wear down quicker from not being in shape as much

I’d also point out that Marshawn Latimore finally played for the commanders last week. I don’t know how good or bad he is, because the Saints quarterback situation stinks and they didn’t throw against him one time.
