He’s an umpteen-year vet. I don’t believe he has to clear waivers. He’s simply released and becomes a free agent.

I think at this stage of the year, that's not true (post trade deadline).  If he were released prior to the season, then he'd be a free agent immediately.

Is that Vic Fangio in that picture?

Looks more like Paulie Walnuts from the Sopranos.

I don't feel there is a lack of star players.  I personally like Jokic, Luka, Kyrie.  Shai, Anthony Edwards, AD, Giannis, Wembanyama could all take Lebrons place as the face of the NBA.  Problem is Lebron has to leave in order for that to happen.  The game to me has plenty of stars and talented players.

I do agree style of play is the biggest issue.  The constant run and gun, jacking up 3's, hardly any defense.

This is why so many guys have higher averages of rebounds and assists.  There are so many shots being taken that boards and assists go up.

If you ask me they should change defensive rules.  Allow players to be more physical.  Not saying like the 80s but let them be aggressive and play some physical defense.

100% this.   Why are they awarded an extra point for not even trying to score from closet to the basket?  Such a stupid rule.

Hey, I can't get the ball close to the goal, so if I just shoot from 30 feet away, will give me an extra point for sucking?

Why not award 4 points for field goals from 40 yards away... and 5 points for from 50 yards away?   Why bother trying to get the ball closer?  Reward ineptitude or laziness.

It was a factor in the Devon White release...

Quote

By being released before the Nov. 5 trade deadline, White is not subject to waivers. He can sign with any team and pursue the role that never materialized in Philadelphia. To be released, White agreed to terms that can provide the Eagles financial savings from the one-year, $4 million deal he signed.

Everyone goes through waivers after the trade deadline. Doesn’t matter who or how much experience.

You are right. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

He was playing with big balls today at practice.   Take it for what its worth.

Sarcasm?

Have you ever played basketball?

If so, is it easier to shoot and score from 2 feet from the rim or behind the NBA 3 point line?

And if you have played basketball you would know it’s exponentially easier to dribble past a defender a few more feet  - to get a better shot or to pass the ball to someone inside - than it is to hit an NBA 3 point shot - especially while being guarded.

Thanks for the belittling comment.   Yes, I have played basketball.  I likely started playing before you were born.   And yes, I started playing basketball before such a thing as the 3 point shot existed.  Back then, you had to work to get the ball INSIDE and try to get the ball into the position for an 'easier' shot, which was also highly contested.   That's why Kareem invented the Sky hook, the nearly indefensible shot from the post.

But, let's stop trying to get the ball inside... just settle for the long shot, because analytically, its more beneficial since you get 50% more points for succeeding.   The 3 point shot and the accompanying analytics have ruined the game I used to love.

To average over 40%+ from NBA 3 point distance takes a lifetime to master, especially while being guarded.

It gets tougher in high school, then even harder in college and if you make it to the NBA and still hit 40%+ from the 3 then you are one in a million.  That’s how difficult that skillset is and that’s why it’s worth 3 points every day and all day.

Disagreement.   The Sky Hook is far more difficult... which is why even to this day, no one has ever mastered it the way Kareem did.

That's why you have so many "3 and D" players across the NBA.  Which I find hilarious, because they aren't really "3 and D"... "D" in the NBA is much more of an idea than a reality.   And when I watch the NBA, most of the 3s are taken with no one really in the face of the shooter these days.  And its often thrown out to a guy who's just standing there waiting for the ball to be passed to him for a spot up 3.

But hey... if the current NBA product is so great, you'd have to ask why the ratings are so far down... and why they had to create a hokey in-season tournament in order to try to build up artificial interest in a game in the middle of November.  🤔  Something there doesn't seem to add up, does it?

My guess is they are gearing up to release EJ Jenkins to activate Huff. Then can elevate Foelsch as #3 TE for games till Goedert is back
