I'm not sure if it's a lock that the Vikings will own the tiebreaker over the Eagles, that just seems wrong, the Vikings of all teams. Or if that's still fluid based on how other teams around the NFL perform and their schedule so it could still influence SOV.

But if it's not fluid and the Vikings would own it no matter what(which just seems there's no way, it's Sam Fing Darnold and the Vikings, just.... no) then that would mean if the Vikings and Lions win the next two, that the final game between them in week 18 wouldn't matter to the Eagles. It would just be winner takes the 1 seed and the Eagles wouldn't have that "worst case scenario" where they'd have to play their starters and hope the Lions lose.

But the schedule crunchers have not declared that as a fait accompli yet, so it might still be fluid. There's just no Fing way Sam Darnold could have a higher seed than the Eagles I refuse to accept that.

Players have no problem spending hundred of thousands of dollars and untold man hours getting into the best physical shape to perform on Sundays… but let this happen

I’m not saying cut them, but you gotta tuck them. Free flowing Dreads are a competitive disadvantage

I mean he scored a TD so how much did it impact him? Also, why not just grease them down?

Personally, I think it should come down to common games before strength of victory because ties outside the division are supposed to use a win-loss-tie record in common games tiebreaker, and -- even though MIN/PHI don't play the same number of games vs each opponent -- they're still have 6 games against common opponents and the aggregate record should be tallied before SOV (IMO):

  1. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  4. Strength of victory in all games.

So far, unless I'm miscalculating, both teams are 4-1 vs common opponents:

PHI -- NYG (W), GB (W), LAR (W), JAX (W), ATL (L)

MIN -- NYG (W), GB (W), LAR (L), JAX (W), ATL (W)

Eagles still have one more to play vs NYG and MIN still has one more to play vs GB.  If both teams win out, both teams would be 5-1 and go to the next tiebreaker for SOV, but say if the Eagles lose to DAL while MIN loses to GB, they both finish 14-3, but the Eagles have a 5-1 record vs common opponents, where MIN would be 4-2.

This would require DET to finish 13-4, though.  Assuming one loss to MIN they would need another loss to either CHI or SF.

A HUGE deal if we dodged another injury bullet (Dickerson).

I will be disappointed if the Eagles don't claim Casey Toohill, who was waived by the Bills yesterday. Or at least put in a claim. Here's a chance to make up for the gaffe when they tried to sneak him through waivers after the first game of his career and had the Redskins claim him.

Do it, Howie!

He’s an umpteen-year vet. I don’t believe he has to clear waivers. He’s simply released and becomes a free agent.

I think it's basically 2 major impacts:

1. Style of Play -- people liked watching the Warriors bomb away from 3 because they had generational shooters in Curry and Klay (later KD). But no one wants to see the entire game played this way by all teams. The NBA used to get fans excited because it had the most ridiculous physical displays on the court -- Magic's passing, MJ dunking, even Hakeem with the Dream Shake. Now guys like Anthony Edwards are jacking up 10 3s a game instead of driving and dunking. It's a boring product.

2. Lack of Stars -- the NBA, more than any other league in US sports, is driven and carried by signature stars. Bird and Magic. Dr. J. Jordan. Shaq and Kobe. While the Spurs were dominant with Duncan, they were never great ratings draws. Now, the biggest name in the NBA is 40 years old and about to retire. Curry and KD are past their primes as well. Who is taking over? Jokic? He's boring. Tatum? Zero personality. Luka? Embiid? Giannis? We need an American. Add on, LeBron, Steph and KD are all out west, so their games are generally on after prime time on the east coast. Nobody is getting excited for Tatum vs. Brunson at 8pm on TNT.

I don't feel there is a lack of star players.  I personally like Jokic, Luka, Kyrie.  Shai, Anthony Edwards, AD, Giannis, Wembanyama could all take Lebrons place as the face of the NBA.  Problem is Lebron has to leave in order for that to happen.  The game to me has plenty of stars and talented players.

I do agree style of play is the biggest issue.  The constant run and gun, jacking up 3's, hardly any defense.

This is why so many guys have higher averages of rebounds and assists.  There are so many shots being taken that boards and assists go up.

If you ask me they should change defensive rules.  Allow players to be more physical.  Not saying like the 80s but let them be aggressive and play some physical defense.
