Nah you have to factor in time. Its has value. Thats why a third this yr is worth a second next yr and so on, regardless of talent pool

Now You could argue that time is slightly lower to the eagles relative to other teams based on cap structure and such

You and other GMs likely agree. I don’t think Howie values that nearly as much, if at all. He’s willing to wait two years for the pick because it’s the better value and a market inefficiency. He has said this himself.

The pats are gonna have a top 15 pick next year

Playing a 1st place schedule, the AFC west and NFL north (rather than the snake bit AFC-N and NFC-S) should be a real leveling up of competition while shaking off the SB hangover - of course, the Bills need to cooperate.

Any shot we trade for Budda Baker? Seems like AZ will want to get back into 1st round for Ty Simpson. He'd probably cost a 3rd round pick but could simply do 23 for Budda and 34 which in the draft point chart is 200 points. That's equivalent to pick 78 in 3rd round.

One of Howie's best traits.

How we got Jalen Carter. How we have a top 70 pick for Reddick. We'll routinely trade down on day 3 and pick up picks for the following draft.

I think it's an interesting idea for the trade deadline, if we haven't found a solution (i.e., Epps can't hold it down, and the rookie is far from ready) which is very possible -and- the Cardinals are already in tank mode. BB is making some good money, so I'm not sure if Howie would want to raid the piggy bank yet at safety.

That's a shame. Without injury he's an elite prospect. I wonder how far he drops

I asked this earlier

I thought about Hextall. He was great in the early years, but then not so good later on. His second tour of duty was unremarkable. I still remember how surprising it was when they started Garth Snow in the playoffs one year over him.

You should still think about him. He was great early on. Really great.

Every year multiple curveballs happen in the draft people didn't expect. One I could see happening is Sadiq falling to 23.

He's an athletic freak, but he wasn't some super productive player in college, teams typically like to focus on premium positions in the 1st round, and I could see him being there. Also no one team has been linked to him directly which could be a bit of a tell. Usually when players gaining steam isn't just smoke and is legit you get one team linked to them directly and it hasn't been that way with him. Everyone kinda just started mocking him in the teens since his combine workouts. I think Howie will try to move up, but if he doesn't and Sadiq is there at 23 with say Iheanachor and Concepcion, I wonder which direction he'd go.

He's also undersized

I like him to be clear. But between that and his lack of elite college production he's a risk in round 1.

The competitive profile and the blocking won me over. Wanna compare him to Vernon Davis? Fine, I don’t completely agree but I get it.. But he’s not Ebron, Howard, Fant, etc. Different guy, just happens to run fast too.

Yeah, there’s some throw-in value for Concepcion and Branch as PRs but Wetjen wouldn’t cost much and can do both. It seems more of an issue about what Howie wants at WR5 and if there’s room for a RS (outside of the practice squad).

Quez Watkins!

IMO he's the only TE in this draft who comes in being an above average receiver and blocker. I like him and think he could be a good fit for the Eagles. But I can definitely see him dropping a bit. Just is what it is.

Duh, I picked a bad week to start stiffing glue - we're all good there.

Is Thieneman joining the big head squad? This could change everything!

Howie isn’t going anywhere. Generally speaking, I would agree with you. But in his and this teams situation, Nope.

Reading between the lines of what’s been reported, Howie wants 2027 picks and not 2026. With the Patriots specifically, I find it hard to believe anyone would want #31 in the 2026 draft vs what their first might be in 2027. That alone tells you what is more valuable.

Yes, Howie isn’t going anywhere, which is exactly why he can dictate terms.

If another team wants an all-pro WR they do not get to dictate terms to Howie. If they want the utility of AJ Brown in 2026 AND the utility of their 2026 first round pick, Howie will absolutely extract a boat load for that low time preference.

Which is not a concern or consideration for Howie. He gets to think further ahead than any GM in the nfl.

See above. It’s a concern for the other party. If they are getting g the utility of both AJ Brown and a 2027 first round pick, it’s going to cost them on the back end.

Depends how they want to utilize him. He's pretty much identical in size to Brock Bowers.

You’re comparing the 2025 and 2026 drafts as part of this. The argument was about the 2026 draft vs 2027 drafts.

Considering the perceived strength of next year’s draft and the odds the Eagles won’t have a true first-round grade on the board at 23, I think Howie would seriously consider taking that swap straight up. The Falcons could easily have a top 10 pick next year.

2025 was considered just as weak while 2026 was supposed to be much stronger.

It doesn’t matter. The utility of a present day pick has a lot more value than a future pick, regardless of the perceived strength of future draft classes.

The kid from UGA is a great 2 way TE. But he’s coming off injury.

Meh maybe. He's caught about 20 passes for 3 years in a row even after Bowers left. So I'm not convinced he can be a receiving threat in the NFL. Maybe he can make the jump. He's relatively athletic.

The possible run on OTs makes me think the Eagles could go S or TE
