Kid can play

He's big and fast, and in college they let him run shallow crosses all day to spam him the ball. He's going to need to mix it up - he isn't always going to get free releases and he'll need to make catches with guys on his back. That's the risk from my point of view.

Yes, this is true. But he remains one of the most unique oddballs / anomalies compared to other QBs.

What comes out above is why we like the good Hurts - he has an ability to rise to the challenge in shootouts / respond to other team scoring. But it ignores one of the stranger flip-side that we get with him or what I'd say is the needs improvement part of Hurts. He struggles to put games away / has a way higher % of games where the rest of the team is doing more of the work vs other elite QBs. E.g. multiple wins last year was the D standing up after the O failed to put games away (more than once with multiple chances)

I got Gemini to run this screen and it proves what I intuitively expected. Went with total yards to not ignore games where he contributes with his legs. He has an abnormally high number of games where he is passing + rushing for less than 200 yards (hell according to AI in 13.5% of his starts has been under 150 yards). Eagles have still won most of them because we have mostly also had an elite defence (ex. 2023) and running game (ex 2025). And Hurts and the Eagles make such a big deal about avoiding turnovers.

He also has a good amount of games with 1 or zero combined TDs

Yeah he's an athletic specimen. He has a lot to learn about playing WR and will be behind due to his injury.

At 44 votes, I'd like to get over 50 if possible.

Of the 2nd round WRs I think Bell and Hurst are most likely Eagles targets if they go WR.

I wouldn't hate it at 23 given the upside. Would be a very "meh" pick to me.

I'm interest to see who sneaks through in the 2nd round between Jacas, Moore, Z.Young, TJ.Parker... Faulk to a certain degree at that point, but he might be too stiff to be more than a 5T.

Chris Johnson and Nuss, I like that.

This story was reported before. I think Lurie acknowledged it to some extent. No word on whether @HazletonEagle was also involved in the choice of JJAW over DK.

That’s pretty impressive. He sets really quickly.

I was actually slightly annoyed because I did not want him at that point in the draft. I wanted to target a different type of WR and had a bunch of others in mind. However I did get fooled by his contested catches and thought he would be a good player.

So we are drafting JJAW and a nickel CB with our first 2 picks? At least we are making up with it by drafting the TE that is the opposite of a Freakbeast late in the draft. 10 out of 10 Howies.

Trey Smack? I thought we were locked-in on Missy, and as an UFA he'd likely have some better opportunities elsewhere.

Boom-bust I think. In terms of Freeling, just look at this picture from the article... he's got to clean this up.

Didn't want to choose at TE do doubled up. Feels like Proctor/Freeling/Max is the type of guy they go far - play the upside.

He's a guy I think coaches like Fangio will value more than your average draftnik. Position versatility, sticks with his assignments, strong vs the run. The lack of pass rush ability is a hard sell for a first round edge. But at least he's only 20 with solid measurables.

I'll be surprised if Lawrence is still on the board @ 54.

If we stay at 23, I'd like to come away with Max, EMW or Boston. I dont think Proctor or Freeling will be there. Could see Howie trading down in a meh 1st round class

What a rebound after the bad Proctor pick!

I have to remember not to get too down after round 1 this year if the letdown comes. Day 2 and 3 is where its at in this draft.
