Thats not going to happen. And from what I understand, even if it does, there are offsets for pre-existing contracts to keep teams from going over the cap with existing contracts that would NOT have sent them over the cap in a normal season. Could you imagine the cap suddenly going down by 20..30..40.. million next year, how many teams would have to release franchise players? Not going to happen.   It will get figured out.

That’s my only hang up to paying Glenn as a backup. Say it’s $4M or so, that’s money we need next year.

It already is figured it out. It can decrease but only by a max of $10M

If the cap goes down by 50 million next year, how many teams with contracts already in place, would be forced to release big name players? There will be language in it to protect that from happening.  If not, how many teams will be over the cap by over 50 million next year? It would wreak havoc on the league.

60 million over with 41 players under contract.  So to get under the cap players will have to go.  From the articles I have read with the most likely candidates gone, and the cap increasing by 10 million, we would have 34 players under contract to get back to even.

Yup. Should sign Glenn anyway considering peters misses time and plays. Additionally Glenn can be the swing tackle role and he has experience at guard as well. So you get the versatility added on.

 I’m guessing won’t sign him til next Monday when the contract isn’t guaranteed. which is a bit of a risk if peters missed snaps you are shuffling RG with pryor likely to LT And herbig to guard.
