Just rewatched the 20 minute highlights on youtube of the Eagles-Redskins NFC Championship Game. What a very full game that was. Even though it ended in a blow out, the Redskins had moments in both the first and second half where they made it a game. I remember after the first half it felt like a full game had already been played.

Biggest head scratcher in that entire game was the Redskins going for it on 4th multiple times on their opening drive but then choosing a field goal on 4th and 3 down in the redszone. All of that on a nearly 8 minute opening drive just to get 3 points and then the Eagles immediately score a TD on their first offensive play of the game.

Then that 4th and 5 deep shot to AJ Brown with 2:14 left in the first half from the Redskins 44 yard line when it was only a 2 point game at 14-12 is easily the most ballsy play call in Eagles history.

If the Eagles don't get that they most likely end up going into half down to the Redskins and then who knows what happens in the second half. Instead they convert it and those final 2 minutes snowball and it ends up 27-15 Eagles heading into the half.

Such bull. So many remember how good he was. All of us thought we had our QB for the next decade. But we also acknowledge it lasted for about 30 games and he then became a traveling back up. He, without a doubt, is the most painful great to gone player in the past 30 years.

Even watching Wentz in the Minnesota game last year there were brief flashes of his athleticism and high energy ability - definitely brought back some fond memories of that first SB season. He just never mentally recovered from all that.

That's not the impression I've got over the years since he's been traded. He's been bashed a lot for wanting to be traded after everything that happened to him

If Sorsby is smart he’ll work with QB coaches through the season, not sure if Texas Tech will allow him to attend school or use their training facilities if he’s not on the football team, but avail those if possible.

The football evaluation on him is already done, and I don’t think not playing this season will hurt his stock that much if he keeps busy refining his game and studying NFL offenses. NFL teams will likely want to audit his finances and social media activity as part of their background checks to verify the gambling is one year further in his past.

I predict he’ll be a 3rd or 4th round pick next April. The risk of permanent ban for one recurrence will be too much deterrent for teams to spend a 1st or 2nd on him.

In some ways I think Wentz was treated worse in Indy than he was in Philly. Doug had decided he wanted to move forward with Hurts as starting QB (according to Favre and Aikman), so Wentz’s request to be moved was somewhat understandable. Irsay had the Colts beat writers rewrite and diminish Wentz’s performance with the Colts — which was objectively pretty good (not great). I think if Irsay had stuck with Reich and Wentz for another year they’d have been much further ahead.

Regardless, I think Wentz’s leg injury was catastrophic enough he’s never regained the type of mobility he once had, so he’s never been able to regain his pre-injury form.

I was watching a rerun the 2021 (I think) Dallas-Kansas City game. I'd always thought that Aikman & Buck were pretty unbiased re Dallas games. They certainly weren't during that game. Big Time Dallas Homers.

It's fitting to watch Boston lose one of it's top 29 year old championship athletes in a trade because that player's ego started to grow to much.

The 2022 World Cup started with 32 teams. Today’s game is the first one in this Cup’s round of 32. The whittling down to 32 four years ago was done off the field rather than on the field as has been done in this Cup. That is a huge improvement in process IMO.

Wentz made a couple decisions in Indy that didn't do him any favors. One was the Covid vaccination drama, he didn't exhibit good leadership there, second that comes to mind is delaying surgery prior to his first season in Indy and costing him his first preseason with a new team. In addition to the physical injuries, I also wonder if he had some lasting effects from his concussions, especially the one from Clowney.
