Lakers lost LeBron and JUST have Luka. Clippers have an opportunity to try to spend again and become THE team in LA in the near future. Theyll be buying talent before that draft pick is used. It’s not going to be some spectacular top 3 pick.

I brought this exact point up on Twitter with the Clippers pick. The Clippers have a ton of cap space next year. They also have the Raptors future picks and they have unprotected picks of their own they can use from 2031 to 2034. Plus they have Wagler and mathurin as young guys in trades to potentially get a star. I have a hard time believing in that market and with their owner, they’re just gonna sit around for the next three years not owning their draft picks in 2028 and 2029.

They’re gonna try to make moves next off-season. And if you look at free agency next off-season, there’s a bunch of players with star level player options like Jokić and Donovan Mitchell, who may be more disgruntled by end of 2027.

Attracting talent and becoming THE team aren't the same thing. In LA, it's the Dodgers, not the Angels; it's the Lakers, not the Clippers; and it's the Rams, not the Chargers... if its even the Rams. The Chargers are an after thought.

I believe they own their own 2027 pick. So they kind of knew they weren’t gonna be very good this year. They basically were setting themselves up to have another high pick in 2027. And then use cap Space, assets to acquire another two stars and build around them. That is really what the Clippers plan is for the 2027 off-season. Whether or not it blows up in their face is another story. But that is the reason why their team is set up the way it is and why they traded Kawhi Leonard away.

Even if it is that player probably won’t be as good as Brown and even if he is it probably won’t be until 2031 so yeah this was a great trade

And losing that pick is nothing to worry about- is the point I have been making.

many 6ers fans overvalued that pick.

Regardless, to get off of the PG contract was supposed to cost us picks. Getting off that contract and getting an MVP finalist last season is worth any picks we had. Often you see big names going for 4 1sts, and swaps. We only spent 2 1sts. Its a major steal for us. I can never remember the 6ers winning a trade so lopsidedly.

So what are the chances the USA can appeal that red card suspension and get Balogun available for the next game? The way that game was officiated was a disgrace. US overcame a lot but we cant have that attempt at a screw job carrying over in to the next round.

It should be a very easy appeal. I cannot believe that even with VAR they called that a straight red, absolute lunacy for a challenge that is made 100 times a game

Edit: just read this article which says they aren't even allowed to appeal which is even bigger BS. That ref is lucky this isnt a south American country or he'd be hanging on the highway if we lose next game without Balogun

This guy says they can appeal. But also risk FIFA giving an even longer suspension. However, that will be reviewed by FIFA disciplinary today regardless and they can expand that suspension even without the US appealing.

So in that case, I see no downside to trying to appeal.

He did say, very unlikely to win. Especially that this was a VAR. The bar is ridiculously high to overturn.

I don't know how much more obvious it can be that the red card was wrong though...
