There's a much larger group of people that support him because he is the starting QB we have. And there's one person that has become the self-appointed "player defense attorney" of Jalen Hurts on this board.

I'm not arguing he played great in those games, but pass yards is a stat most people use to rank him low compared to other QBs so just using that for easy sorting. Obviously passer rating, TDs, INTs, etc. are factors.Unless this new offense clicks and suits him really well and he excels, he's never going to be a top passer in the league. He's never going to have the kind of passing game that is good enough for the critics and fans who just hate him. If his running ability diminishes, that takes away the dynamic of his dual threat and hurts the offense overall. So we'll see what happens this year. If he runs the way he did last year (which was rare and when he did it was often not pretty) then he's a replacement level QB.I hate to point at QB rating because it's also a flawed stat (see his 2024 bucs playoff game rating), but he's had a QB rating above 90 in 37 of his 82 regular season starts. Less than half of his games have been above average (arbitrarily using 90 as the above average range based on a Google search). That number jumps to 54 if you look for games above 80 (average, again based on google).It's also a hot topic because this is his do or die year, he either plays well and earns a new contract or we're in here wondering if we trade for Burrow or try to maneuver for a top pick to get a new QB. I personally don't care one way or the other if he's the QB. He's extremely frustrating to watch because you never know who you're going to get. Are you getting super bowl hurts, who is decisive and accurate, making good decisions in the pocket? Or are you getting zero pocket presence hurts who won't use check downs and rarely throws over the middle? IMO, he's not worth a mega contract. If he has a decent year and would take a reasonable deal i would support it. If he wants to be the best paid QB, i'd rather they tell him to pound sand and use the saved money to maintain a championship calibre roster. I'd rather not hitch the wagon to a middling qb and risk losing the team around him.Tl;Dr IMO "hurts haters" are annoyed by people acting like hurts is the greatest and there's no argument for moving on. Hurts doesn't suck, he's also not elite. Top 12-15 QB, good enough to win but not good enough to warrant a mega contract.

He has landed at #3, #15, and #19 and it has not yet been revealed where he'll land this time. To me, it kind of says something when the players around the league think highly of another player.
