July 15Jul 15 Was thinking I haven't heard Kevin Cooney on the radio in awhile and looked it up. Sucks. He was probably the best guy on the radio left in Philly Sports Radio.

You don't even like LeBron, just willing to tolerate his "circus" for a trophy and now he is a cool cat? How many of your personalities post as HazeltonEagle?

I’m sure he can still be effective in a limited role, but I seriously doubt he’s going to be a transformative player.Yeah I think it's pretty incredible that they talk about Donald coming out of retirement elevating their defense, at age 35 and 2 full seasons retired, people should be pumping the brakes on that. He was a DT, it's not like a DB or running back coming back, like Kelce, Donald has visibly lost weight since he retired, I don't doubt he's stayed in great physical shape, but adding that playing bulk back at age 35? That's a big ask.
July 15Jul 15 Assuming he stays healthy, Donald would clearly elevate that defense. If he has been continuing workouts like Brandon Graham did during retirement, I'm sure he would have no problem getting right back on the field. I doubt you'd see much drop-off in play from him, even at 35. He would definitely change offensive gameplans. But if a significant injury happened to him or Garrett, all that worry instantly disappears.
July 15Jul 15 Frank Ragnow and others are a cautionary tale on running it back. Donald was very talented, but while BG was in the building still and his head was still in the game, has Donald's? The difference between sporting fitness and general fitness is vast, even for those elite athletes. If it means he takes a roster spot up on their 53 vs a younger player, all for it.

I also wouldn't say Donald was or is into general fitness. He reminds me a lot of Brandon Brooks who would get absolutely shredded while not playing and then bulk up for the season. I think the bigger question for Donald is if he could bulk back up to his playing weight while retaining strength at his age.

July 15Jul 15 I think in every sport, all star games have suffered due to the internet age. Before social media and the ability to watch games or highlights on a whim, the all star games meant more and was an opportunity for players to build their name and reputation. Now the players have already existing brands and the home run derby, dunk contest, NFL and NHL skills competitions mean less and less for the stars to actually do it. Same with the games. It’s just not worth the extra work.

The baseball all-star game, specifically, definitely meant more before interleague play. It’d be more enjoyable if they played the all stars from the Japanese league or did a week long nation’s challenge like hockey did a year or two ago.

Dude was shredded his whole career.I expect him to still be damn good if he comes back, especially as a pass rusher. And it’s a cool story - the best iDL and edge of a generation playing on the same DL.

Michael Jordan used the all star games and dunk contests early in his career to build his national appeal and become a mainstream celebrity/star. LeBron James entered the league and was already at a similar level where he doesn't need those platforms to establish himself and his value and worth in endorsements. The individual salaries also is a big factor and like you said, not worth risking injury.

July 15Jul 15 The more that comes out about Matt Miller raises a lot of questions. If true, he seems to have done worse than other journalists/analysts but you don't really hear much about it.
July 15Jul 15 Nolan Smith was due back in court yesterday. Wonder what updates we will get. Also wonder when a determination on a suspension will come out.https://www.nfl.com/news/eagles-nolan-smith-arrested-georgia-speeding-reckless-driving-charges
