This is more about the glazing of Herbert as opposed to defending Hurts.

I never really looked that closely at Herbert's numbers - just assumed his stats must be out of this world to get rated so highly despite peeing down his leg in every big game. He put up big yards in 2021 and 2022, but the last 3 years...not sure how one of these guys is elite and the other is garbage. Herbert is the most overrated player in the league at this point.

Not that it means anything, but here it is:

That's perfectly fine. I use the dictionary definition

Fair enough.

hope (noun)

hopes (plural noun)

  1. a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen:

"he looked through her belongings in the hope of coming across some information"

"I had high hopes of making the Olympic team"

  2. archaic

    a feeling of trust:

"our private friendship, upon hope and affiance whereof, I presume to be your petitioner"

The key word for me in the first definition is expectation. If you expect something to happen you have reason for it. It is not only a desire. In our little discussion, that expectation is that a draft choice will perform according to expectation. Perhaps expectation alone is slightly too strong but it tilts beyond mere desire. It implies a reason and that is how I perceive my definition of hope as being different from yours.

I think they were just trying to add weapons for the new offense and with AJ leaving. They added 4 new WRs and 3 new TEs. Draft picks they do their due diligence on the positions like every team and there's a "hope" they work out that is inherent with selecting them. More like a gamble or expectation. With trading or signing veteran players you have the film on them to know what they've done at the NFL level. I'd be more concerned if Lemon were the only move at WR they made. This offense might be DeVonta and then WR by committee spreading the ball around, including TE and RBs.

I get that for sure, I've mentioned before that I understand the pick because this is a make or break year for Hurts so they're trying to give as much talent as possible. I just believe Cooper could give as much as Lemon will give this year. He had extremely limited opportunities last season because of how limited the offense was on top of having to force feed Brown, but when he did play I thought he looked good.

Yards and Y/G are off by a little bit in the passing game for Herbert 2023. Doesn't make a different I think though

I was curious if Mailata played in his rookie year preseason. His regular game stats start in 2020 but was drafted in 2018, so I was curious if they didn't play him in preseason for the first 2 years but they did. I found an article that tracked preseason snap counts. In his first preseason game Aug 12, 2018 he played 32 offense and 3 special teams snaps.

10 passing yards not changing much...at least you know I'm putting it in Excel myself!

Playing Mailata theoretically puts a QB2 ort QB3 at risk if he's clueless - no such risk with Bernard.

This is great. I really like Ross. Glad to see a guy who was a no name player with a short career getting a nice announcing assignment. CBS gets what they deserve giving Romo that insane contract.

Agree. I initially was thinking they didn't play Mailata at all, our other international comparison. But they did play him. Doesn't automatically mean they'll play him but was just looking at a precedent. You're right, even more reason to try Uar. Valuable game reps.

PHLY guys recap on today:

Big Barkley day

Hurts good again

Lampkin continues to look good

Jurgens looking good

Deontae Lawson flashed

Weru continues to look good

Uar flashed on a few plays

Micah Morris starting to look pretty good and really has started to stand out in recent days

Darius Cooper continues to look good, Elijah Moore starting to stack good days

Byron Young has had a good camp

All agreed Landon Dickerson had a rough day and looks a bit sluggish out there. Said he's noticeably slower than in years past.

I drove by that house not that long ago, just for the hell of it. It’s only a couple miles from where I live and it’s on the way to my dentist’s office. There was a dude in the front of the driveway (maybe taking out his trash) who noticed my presence and gave me a kind of "WTF are you doing/He moved away decades ago” look.

Ross Tucker is kind of weird

On the one hand I genuinely like the guy, but one the other he always sounds like he’s drunk, even moreso than Romo. I think it’s just his speech inflection but it’s hit and miss as far as listenability

My 53-man before the first preseason game. A lot of the backend depends on who flashes or flames out in the games. And of course, injuries. Although listed, I agree with Franklin that they may carry their long-snapper on the PS at first. Yes, 10 OL - I believe Lampkin and Morris have more upside than Majors and Jordan. The choices among Ringo/Mondon/Latu would be special teams influenced.

Good take. Pretty darn close. Can add Latu I think. Does a few things well.

A Philly entrepreneur allegedly scammed NFL athletes, eve...

Mohamed Coulibaly used Jalen Carter, Nakobe Dean, and Terrell Edmunds to lure in others to his scheme. He was found dead in his home last month.
