Wouldn't hurt weru eitherI'd also add they could what they did with Williams, Lampkin and Hilton last year. IR them, have them attend meetings, then have them practice for 3 weeks in a row towards the end of the season before deciding to either leave them on IR or activate them. It's not as much as keeping them on the active roster but it provides protection while also giving them a few weeks of reps in practice.
August 19Aug 19 So, the Eagles are 0 - 2 to start their season? Grreeeeaat. 🤪🙃There goes my Super Bowl aspirations!!!
August 19Aug 19 The eagles spent a late 7 on Bernard. Those players are often cut. I read it said the eagles invested too much to give up now which is just untrue. If they cut Bernard or Weru and hope to get one to the international exemption I’d be fine even if they lost them

The fact that they even used a pick on a guy who's like 3 years away from remotely competing shows this is a long play they view with high upside. They aren't going to ditch the plan they knew going in would take years. That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. He'll make the team or be IR'd. Weru may be cut.

August 19Aug 19 I don’t care who "wins” a joint practice - maybe the offense started out running then wanted to work on passing later. We really don’t know. Here are my main takeaways from the coverage:The best news is the OL dominating in one on ones against a very good defensive line. Kendall, Lampkin and Bell are solidifying themselves as the top backups. I think big Fred makes the team, but it’s in greater doubt than I would have thought. The line getting back to being a dominant unit will cover up a lotSounds like the running game came out on fireWith no Smitty or Wicks, seems the passing game struggledMore concerning - seems Hurts was under pressure from blitzes. Have to hope that is learning a new scheme and blitz pickupsWhile some people said the secondary had a bad day, these drills are slanted against the defensive backs. On one throw to Brown, Maye would have been leveled in a real game. In practice he can stand there with confidence. Yes, this make the struggles of the Eagles passing game a little more pressingHunt seems to have dominated. Also saw Smith was giving guys the business. Ojomo too

If he goes from 6 last season to 10 this year, it’s not the end of the world. Because that means he’s being more aggressive and as a result more big plays will come for it.I’m good with that too with the caveat that his interception to touchdowns ratio needs to stay the same or be better

It gives a PS roster exemption spot but any team can poach them at any time while before they were locked in once they clear waivers. So you have to risk waivers then you have to risk at some point some bottom feeding team later in the season trying to poach talent because their season is over.

August 19Aug 19 With Greenard most likely starting the season on IR, Weru is on track to make squad. Eagles have to keep any developmental prospects they can on both lines. On OL, they are likely losing Steen. Dickerson has 1 year left...AT BEST! And Johnson is retiring. Lotta turnover there in one offseason. And Jurgens needs to rebound this season or he could be out. On the DL, you are losing Ojomo next year. And Nolan Smith the following year after that. Hunt is a keeper and have to sign, but will cost a boatload. It's imperative they keep any youth that show any inkling of a future over any jags or other roster positions that don't have anyone worthy to make a 53 (and can be easily stashed on PS like at safety and tight end). In other words, this roster should be fat on both lines, a little more than normal.

I think they can sneak the other guys to the PS.On defense, I don’t think Greenard is on IR to start the season, because that means he misses 4 games. So edge: Greenard, Smith, Hunt, AK, Epenesa. DT: Carter, Davis, Oromo, Young and Robinson (seems to have picked it up just in time). I see Bernard and Weru on the 53 initially as well.

I believe Greenard does indeed miss the first 4 games and Ebikitie makes the 53-man

I’d point out that just about every team passed on Bernard in the seventh and none drafted Weru. I think we tend to over value the Eagles late round picks. Because of Mailata, we also tend to over value developmental possibilities.
